Musing the Museum Reply with quote
Erika had heard of several museums in the area, and thought she might give them a look-over if they were available given her required hours. She took one look at the Museum of Aquatic Nuances, and smiled, checking for signs of life.

Erika smiles, and nods her head "Thank you. I was just curious about the museum, I can't say I've ever heard of one like this."

Jackson gives her a pleasant smile and a chuckle "That is not the first time I have herd that one the proprietor of this museum is definitely one unto herself in her choice of business ventures never anything that has already been done." he looks around the museum with a wistful look as if remembering something "Oh where are my manners would you like a tour of the museum?"

Erika smiles again, and smooths out her blouse, "That would be wonderful. I have an interest in the odd and unusual myself, this would be quite the treat."

Jackson extended his arm as if to escort her around but didn't dare be so bold as to touch the woman.

The first room on the list would be Treachery on the Seven Seas as they walked through the doors Jackson allows the woman to enter first and he follows behind giving her a few sentences about each of the exhibits in the room.

Noting the exhibits around the room Pearl Harbor the pictures and the video that played in a loop on the flat screen TV hung on the wall there was also a scale model of what the aftermath of this event looked like encased along the wall under the picture. There is also models of an original submarine that was built from the first reported design of a submarine along with all of the information hung on the walls as to the evolution of the vessel and the last major exhibit in the room which was life size versions of the most famous pirates in history were standing straight and there clothes were in just the right spot you could tell someone took great care in hand picking the clothes for the pirates.

Erika appears to be interested, although she's not being horribly obvious about it as she scrutinizes the exhibits. She seems to take particular interest in that of the pirates.

Jackson waits for the woman to look around the room before escorting her to the next

Goddesses of the Sea Myth or Reality. Looking at all the information and depictions the three goddesses that seemed to stand out were the Syrian goddess Atargatis.
The legends are numerous and of an astrological character. A rationale for the Syrian dove-worship and abstinence from fish is seen in the story in Athenaeus 8.37, where Atargatis is naively explained to mean "without Gatis", the name of a queen who is said to have forbidden the eating of fish. Thus Diodorus Siculus (2.4.2), quoting Ctesias, tells how Derceto fell in love with a youth and became by him the mother of a child and how in shame Derceto flung herself into a lake near Ascalon and her body was changed into the form of a fish though her head remained human. Derceto's child grew up to become Semiramis, the Assyrian queen. In another story, told by Hyginus, an egg fell from the sky into the Euphrates, was rolled onto land by fish, doves settled on it and hatched it, and Venus, known as the Syrian goddess, came forth.
The author of Catasterismi explained the constellation of Piscis Austrinus as the parent of the two fish making up the constellation of Pisces; according to that account, it was placed in the heavens in memory of Derceto's fall into the lake at Hierapolis Bambyce near the Euphrates in Syria, from which she was saved by a large fish — which again explains the Syrian abstinence from fish.
Ovid in his Metamorphoses (5.331) relates that Venus took the form of a fish to hide from Typhon. In his Fasti (2.459-.474) Ovid instead relates how Dione, by whom Ovid intends Venus/Aphrodite, fleeing from Typhon with her child Cupid/Eros came to the river Euphrates in Syria. Hearing the wind suddenly rise and fearing that it was Typhon, the goddess begged aid from the river nymphs and leapt into the river with her son. Two fish bore them up and were rewarded by being transformed into the constellation Pisces — and for that reason the Syrians will eat no fish.
A recent analysis of the cult of Atargatis is the essay by Per Bilde, in Religion and Religious Practice in the Seleucid Kingdom (in series "Studies in Hellenistic Civilization") Aarhus University Press (1990), in which Atargatis appears in the context of other Hellenized Great Goddesses of the East.

Next was Mazu the Chinese sea goddess
Meizhou Island 湄洲岛 Birthplace of Mazu the Sea Goddess Just off Fujian’s coast, between Quanzhou and Putian, lies Meizhou Island, the Mecca for Mazu worshippers.

Legend has it that Mazu was called Mo (silence) because she never cried until one month old (at which time she let loose, “Enough already! Feed me!”). Little Miss Mo could understand and interpret Buddhist scriptures by the tender age of eight when, according to a guidebook, “she began to worship gods and recite texts, with an intention to salvate [sic] poor people.”

When she was 16, a celestial being gave her a bronze talisman, and from then on she grew in supernatural powers and wisdom. She went about doing good deeds, healing the sick with herbs, teaching how to prevent disease, and reading the sea and stars and weather to help farmers know when they should fish and when they should stay home and tell fish stories. So far so good—but then she was credited with riding the clouds, and using her power to turn the tide and to save ships, and people began calling her “The Goddess” or the “Daughter of the Dragon.” And her fate was sealed

Lastly is Thetis the Greek goddess
THETIS was a goddess of the sea and the leader of the fifty Nereides. Like many other sea gods she possessed the gift of prophesy and power to change her shape at will.
Because of a prophesy that she was destined to bear a son greater than his father, Zeus had her marry a mortal man. Peleus, the chosen groom, was instructed to ambush her on the beach, and not release his grasp of the struggling goddess as she metamorphosed into a host of shapes. The couple were afterwards married in a ceremony attended by all the gods of heaven, and she bore a son, the celebrated hero Akhilleus.
In her desperate attempts to protect her son during the Trojan War, Thetis called in many favours from the gods. These included Hephaistos and Dionysos, both of whom she had given refuge in the sea as they faced crises of youth, and Zeus, whose throne she had protected by summoning the giant Briareus when the gods had sought to bind him.

Erika just nods as they walk through the exhibits, looking quite a bit more interested in this section than the last. In particular, the exhibits on the various goddesses seem to pique her interest as she scans them over rather thoroughly.

Jackson is just about to lead the woman to the next room when he hears the front door open and then Rahyna's voice can be herd near the front of the building.

"Jackson, Jackson I need you where are you."

Jackson pops his head out from the room that he is currently in "I'm in here with a guest."

Rahyna stops half way to the room "Oh well once you are finished come see me." Rahyna turns to walk towards her office.

Jackson led the woman throught the next few rooms at a leisurely pace even though he knew that Rahyna needed him for something but she also prided her museum as an extension of herself and would be upset if someone did not see every asspect of it.

The next room entered was History of Travel on the Water note the map of Pangaea that was painted on one of the walls and then the picture on another wall that showed the route the mayflower took on it’s way to the new land and lastly the evolution of the trading routes and means of travel on the oceans.

The next room some of the rare and valuable objects which lie with in there are many coral encrusted jewels found from various ship wreaks or by them selves as if someone leaned over the rail of a ship and lost a necklace or ring. There were also a lot of crucifixes challises and other symbols of religion that had been found along the bottom of the ocean and then against the back wall encased in glass was a bible still submerged in sea water with the tank was pressurized so that no air could get into and ruin the condition of the item the pages were open to spot somewhere in the book of John but you could not read what the pages said anymore the black leather bound book was the most extravigant of the exhibits in this room.

The next room Nobel Endeavors Capt. Cook, and the Lusitanian were well and fine as was the scale model of Cleopatra’s Barge

Erika just follows along, before stopping him at the last exhibit shown. "Perhaps I can make an appointment to see the proprietor? I'm sure she doesn't want to be kept waiting any longer, and I can easily come back for the rest of the tour another time."

Jackson smiles at the woman "That would be fine if you would like to call in and speak with Rahyna to set up and appointment to see her would be best and you can come back anytime and I will finish the tour with you if you like."

After giving her all the information she needs to get ahold of Rahyna Jackson walks her to the door and bids her a good evening.

As she walks out, another man walks in.

Despite the moderate success at Sac U, West was unusually relieved it was over. Conflict never had bothered him, but he had never really worried about one of his teammates, either. This had been the first major confrontation since Baltimore, as well.

She did well, even considering she didn't listen when I told her to take cover. Then again, we're not the Guardians, either, mindless automatons. Hard to juggle keeping her safe, but involved.

He was proud of her.

West looked down at his phone again, at the text message. He needed a distraction.

The Museum of Aquatic Nuances. He had always used water as a mental analogy for the river of Time and ripples of Fate. The dichotomy of weather and ocean patterns also held a similarity to the calculating and quixotic nature of the Path of Thistle.

Waiting for the woman to go through the door, he stepped in.

Erika stepped through the door, stopping for a moment to glance over West. She shook her head, and then continued down the street.

Jackson extended his had to the gentleman entering the Museum "Welcome please enjoy yourself and if you need anything let me know."

Jackson shut the doors behind the man and turned towards the hallway to the offices.

West wandered around, occupying his mind, and smiled at the history of Mazu. Sounded like either a Mage, or someone with an Artifact. He thoroughly enjoyed the Pearl Harbor exhibit, as military history had always been an interest, as well as successful --or in this case-- failed gambits.

Looking at his phone, and realizing he hadn't killed enough time yet, he headed for the door.

As West was leaving he could hear a clearly feminine voice from around the corner of a wall "Thank you for coming and please come again our doors are always open."
