Joe heads up to Carson's office. Shuts the door, clicks the blinds closed.
"I've got bad news, worse news, and some good news." He sighs.
He lets that sink in for a moment, before continuing.
"Bad news: I can't actually tell you the bad news, its from dirty channel. Ditto for the worse news. On the bright side, our perp is said to hang out at an abandoned church nearby. Do you think you can get me clearance to do a camp out? I'm not trusting cameras, I want real eyes on the ground. And since the church is abandoned, you think you can start the paperwork for getting a search warrent when we bring this guy in?" Joe is for the first time since the investigation started sounding confident, and is very enthusiastic.

Venessa shrugs. "Yeah all right. I'll met you back here then."
She goes home, showers, packs a small overnight bag (mostly munchies, red bulls, and a change of shirt, jeans, socks, and underwear). She grabs her gun and badge and heads out.
When she meets Joe back at the presinct, she smiles and holds up her bag.
"Ok ready to go. You mind telling me where we are going and why now?"

Joe smiles. "Whoops. Yeah, there's an old abandoned church near the south of town that the perp has been seen lurking around in. Our task is to verify that he does hang around there. Once that is secure we will then establish his movements. After that, we will have backup arrest him on suspicion of multiple murder."
He starts up the shadow car. Beat up toyota from the mid 90s. perfect for fitting in in crappy neighborhoods. Joe checks his gun, badge, and handcuffs. He double checks his radio, and makes sure his cell phone battery is fully charged.
Munchie wise he's got a few candy bars and a couple of 5 hour energy drinks; along with a canvas bag with a couple bottles of water in it.
"This your first stake-out Vanessa?" Joe asks as they drive towards the church.

She waches out the window, keeping stock of where they are going.
"Do we have authorization to go into the church? I mean, since it's abandoned and all. Did you check to see who owns it?"

Venessa looked at Joe, and frowned. "Why is it too late? Why not just give Carson a call while we are waiting for this guy to show up and ask if he can look it up for us? It should be in public records on the web and it will take a whole five minutes. Or, even better, I can call city hall and find out. Civilians are allowed access to that information, I am sure we won't have a problem getting hold of it."
