"This isn't a multiple decoys plan, as much as it is a plan for a decoy. I volunteered, but I will not volunteer West, or Ankh as decoys. We need to figure out how to detract attention from the students entirely, and get them focused on me.
What have all the attacks had in common?"

"That sounds perfect Kai. It was what I was trying to get at, you see they always try to attack people when they're by themselves. Most attacks are preempted by a period of time that the target is stalked, then they are approached, and if the Banisher decides that the target isn't suitable for recruitment he attacks."
"That's why I want to pair up the Apostates with some of our people, it makes them less likely to be chosen. The only reason we'll hang back a little is that we can't disrupt the parties without bringing undue attention to ourselves."
"So, the most tempting target will be a Mage walking alone from one party to another. And it would be perfect if Mage was one of you."

Kai realized the severity of the role he was playing. It was exciting. The chance to play the hero, and get to fight...he could barely contain the smile.

Realizing that they're waiting for his answer, Dex tries as best he can to continue. Damn, coffee always set his insides just a little queasy and getting older meant that his body didn't obey quite like it used to. He'll have to find a restroom soon after they were done here.
"Uh, sounds like it will start the weekend after this one I think. We just got wind of it from Calligan Wellmer, he got concerned after hearing about it from some of the kids. He and the Libertines probably have the best working relationship with the Apostates of any of the other Orders, so they're working on getting a headcount now. But I can't imagine that all these Apostates will appreciate being followed around."
"Listen, I'm going to need to head out. We've still got some planning to do, and most everyone we've got who fights will be on hand for the buddy system. I think you guys will know best how to pull off your part of the operation. If you have any questions, just call base."

West spoke up, "So Kai is going to be bait. The Kruegans will be guarding the Apostates as well as making them less attractive targets, yes? Let's put Ankh in the sky for recon, and I'll be support. How's that sound?"
West really hoped Ankh wouldn't take that as him putting her out of the action.

Ankh opened her mouth to object to West's suggestion, then shut it again. She'd done enough arguing for a few days. She should probably give the poor guy a break. He was trying after all.
Instead, she looked at him and nodded to show her assent. She would follow his lead in this. She really didn't know a whole hell of a lot about fighting anyway, so best to pay attention to those who did.
