Asa drove home, dressed in the change of clothes he kept in his car trunk. He wasn't thrilled about having to toss his clothes and shoes, but doubted they'd ever be the same. It was almost worth trying, though, considering Yves St. Laurent had closed shop and he would never be able to replace them.
Pulling into the Clare, he made a phone call, giving very detailed instructions, and then called the main desk, booking a room for the night. Taking the elevator down, he took a very, very long shower and dressed, then texted Nic.
Turning on SportsCenter as he waited, he saw the Steelers were 6 1/2 point favorites.
The concrete-encrusted rebar, stained black with something on one end looked distinctly out of place on the mohogany dining room table.

Nic pressed his finger on the biometric reader in the wood paneled elevator. He had another bottle of vintage port in his left hand.
"Welcome Mr.Panagopoulos" scrolled up the touch screen.
He entered the suites reception chambers and made himself comfortable pouring two glasses of port. He knew Asa would be out in a moment, as he is alerted to the elevator accessing this floor.
Nic was no computer genius but he knew things were not right. He hoped Asa had the lock for the keys he had discovered. Something had to make sense of these events.

The indicator light came on, letting Asa know Nic had arrived. Turning off the television, he went out to greet him.
"Nic, thanks for coming. I'm sorry I had to cancel last time," Asa said, sitting down. "So, tell me, find anything interesting?" His Beast was making itself known, drained as he was from the night before. He soothed it down, though, knowing he had plans for later.

Asa was not his normal impeccable self. What does he busy himself with? Nic was torn, what was the best way to breech the subject and show the need for concern without raising alarm? He offered Asa the glass of port.
"I have indeed a discovery sir. We have two players that have shown their hand. The New World Order and the S. Corporation. Asylim, Avalon, Howling Moon, Low Places, Crabhouse, Empty Orchestra and a few others all in downtown are all owned by the S. Corporation. The New World Order moved into a large building on I and Pyramid. "
Nic pauses and takes a healthy swallow of his port.
"They are big and yet they leave almost no digital trail. Something stinks here. They don't want to be known."
Nic lets that hang in the air for Asa take in and readies himself for the unpleasantries that are about to unfold.

"Well we are dealing with powerful idiots here Asa. The contacts I used are secure, old, proven, and trusted. There is no issue there. But here is what I was getting at with the digital thing. Go to a library and look thees "large" companies up on the Internet... They don't exist."
"So why would I use a library computer. Well when I used my laptop, it got formated when I went to the wiki on the S corp. So they are policing the digital realm hard. I don't what this means. Its been two days since my laptop was formatted. I have laid low and not looked into them any more. So maybe it was just erased, or maybe they know I was looking."
Nic looks Asa in the eyes.
"I mean who the fuck tries to hides a elephant of a company digitally, and leaves a giant stinking paper trail lying about? Nothing makes senses here. I have found a spider's web, question is did I get caught in it? Honestly with the speed they clean my computer, I feel they would of taken action against me by now if they knew who I was, or deemed me as a threat. But I have taken no action since then."
Nic knew business, he had dealt with all types before. He was willing to bet his life he was in the clear, hell he may be doing just that right now.

Asa digested the words. He knew any other Kindred would simply kill Nic and deny involvement. His Beast, already gnawing at the cage of his mind with mild hunger, howled in rage. The man had always been loyal, though, and that was... difficult to find.
He couldn't just ignore it. He had warned him. Asa looked at Nic, "I was going to Embrace you this year, Nic. Apparently you lack the discretion at this point to do that. The Masquerade requires discretion."
He stood up, and walked over to a bookshelf and pulled out an atlas with a map of the city, lost in thought. Pulling out a pen, he outlined the Rack, and then noted where Asylum and Avalon were. Pulling out a phone book, he looked up the rest and noted them. He idly wondered if Nic were going to try to kill him in a fit of anger, with his back turned as it was.
He walked back to Nic and handed him the atlas. "Buy or lease anything you can in this area," pointing to the circled Rack, "which can be converted to a night club. Let me know if you need my money, and use a shell or LLC. Then turn it into a club."

Things had gone better than expected. Nic was right Asa was tired. Nic remained composed and sipped his port.
It's been decades since I was involved with a night club. He said nostalgically I will find a spot and lay the ground work tomorrow. Did you have a name in mind or a theme?
As for the companies it went without saying, Nic would pry there no longer.

Nic got up finishing off his glass of port. He picked up the one Asa had not accepted and head to the elevator. He turned to say something to Asa, but prudence stopped him.

He drank the other glass of port with in seconds as he rode up in the elevator.

Asa checked his watch. It was almost time. He changed clothes, and headed up to the lobby, and picked up his room key.
He only had to wait a few minutes before there was a knock at the door.
He let them in, and took a look as he led them to the bedroom. His instructions had been followed to the letter. One tall, one shorter, both brunette. He reached for the light dimmer as he let his imagination change their faces in the dimming light.
