Why is Taylor alone?
No pack, no tribe, no lasting mate, hell no family, or even loved ones. The complete lack of things that normal werewolves cling to seem to be absent in this one’s life. It is not for lack of trying or from not being willing.
Taylor used to be a part of a group. It was this group that gave him the grounding he needed to be as successful as he has become. Stone Following was a pack of oddly calm wolves. They were led by a rather imposing and charismatic old wolf named Xavier. Xavier was not the biggest or even the most fierce but it was his inner strength that gave him the courage to be honorable in all his dealings and to also be able to try a different route at times.
Then there was Lily, she was two years younger then Taylor and a good girl by all accounts. Taylor developed a friendship of sorts with her that quickly grew into something more.
Marcus and Brockton rounded out the pack that ran around a small portion of L.A. but they were happy and kept busy enough. Occasional spirit problem handled, even the odd security case taken. The pack focused on lending aid to each individual member’s focus. Taylor dealt with missing and abused kids, while Lily was always on the look out for a chance to deal with gang members dealing in places they should not. Marcus had a soft spot for animals and Brockton could never pass up a chance to test and improve his strength.
It had been a good life for several years but all good things come to an end and in this world of darkness that end is so often filled with blood. Hunters had found out what they were. As single mindedly as they do, the hunters came for them. Silver burned the air as the trap was set. Xavier was just worried about getting everyone out. Lily was scared like she hadn’t been for years, Marcus, near the end, was concerned about who was going to feed his birds. Brockton realized that all the strength in the world cannot protect you from the harsh sting of silver.
Taylor learned there is no true safety. You can’t be safe, well protected maybe but never safe. He has found too many werewolves want to be safe. They have lost the fundimental part about being able to help, the want to make things better. He just wants to fix some of the problems in the world. All good things must pass but it is also darkest just before the dawn.
These are the things that Taylor lives his life by and to answer the question above.
The lone wolf is either a brute or a survivor.
And Taylor sends flowers to the graves of his three closest friends every year.
