Jenni sat in the kitchen of Rayanna's home waiting for her to return from work. It was a rather nice place, in Jenni's opinion anyway. It had a femanine touch without being girly. The woman was definitly mature enough to handle herself.
She had already started a pot of coffee, she knew she might be here for a while. Sometimes hospital staff have to work double shifts with no prior notice. But Jenni had checked the fridge and the cupboards.It seemed Rayanna kept a crap load of food in the place, so Jenni would just make herself dinner if it got too late and the couch looked comfortable enough to crash on.

Rayanna Pearson
Rayanna returned home from her shift at the hospital. Her first week had been exciting. She had never actually had the hands on part of nursing, and she was loving it. Especially in the maternity ward. Thinking of the babies, Rayanna was smiling and not thinking. She didn't realize the door was already unlocked as she unlocked it. She also didn't smell the coffee brewing. hanging her keys up on the key rack, they third hook, and placing her mail in the bowl underneath it, she slipped off her coat as she made her way to the kitchen.
And stopped short when she saw the woman sitting at her kitche table.
Rayanna sized her up. She was pretty sure she could take her.
"Excuse me, is there a reason you are in my home?"
Rayanna positioned herself near the knife drawer.

Jenni smiled as she noticed the direction she had turned-toward the knives.
"Oh don't worry yourself dear, you won't be needing those. And I would be more then happy to tell you why I am in your home. I was waiting for you to get back from work."
She continued to sit at the table and calmly sipped her coffee.

Rayanna figured if this stranger wanted her dead, she wouldn't be sitting at her table drinking coffee. Rayanna walked into the kitchen and poured herself a cup, adding cream and sugar. She sat down across from the woman.
"So, do ya have a name? Mine is Rayanna, but you probably already knew that. So, why were ya waitin for me to come home?"

"Yes, I wanted to talk to you about some things. First my name is Jenni Trip and I am like you. Not a nurse or anything but," she taps her head, "like you. I wanted to make you an offer."

Rayanna raised an eyebrow. Like her? She didn't miss the meaning. She thought about playing dumb but doubted it would get her anywhere. She sighed and took a sip of her coffee.

Rayanna took another drink of her coffee, hiding her face. She kept her face calm, but her insides were churning. Why did Jenni even assume she knew anything about supernaturals? And what did she mean supernaturals? There was more than vampires out there?
And until tonight, Rayanna didn't even knew others like her existed.
Rayanna set her mug down.
"Listen, I'm real sorry about your family. My parents died when I was eight-car accident. Look, I'm gonna be straight up with you. Until I met you, I didn't even know that there were other people who had the same abilities I do. And as far as supernaturals-what do you mean?" Rayanna leaned forward, "I mean, I know about vampires, but that's it. What else is out there? And who is 'we'? I only see one of ya all. I ain't sayin no, I just would like to know a little bit more information before I say yes."

Jenni frowned. "Of course there are other supernaturals out there. Wow girl, you really don't know anything. Well let's see, " she begins to tick them off on her fingers as she says them, "there's vampires, werewolves, changelings, oh and mages too mustn't forget them."
She smiles, perking up again. "And then there are others like us. Although not all of us have the same abilities. Some can start fires, some can tell the future, some can fly, some can move objects with their mind. There is a whole world out there that you don't even know about girl."

Rayanna frowned when this other girl-this intruder-said she didn't know anything.
That was rude. Of course, she had in no uncertain terms threatened to kill her-Rayanna wondered if this chick was entirely stable.
"Can you do any of those other things? Or do you just read minds?" She wanted to know what the hell a changeling was. But didn't want to seem dumber than she already did. And mage? Like a magic user?

The mug came up off the table of it's own accord and 'flew' to Jenni's hand.
She took a sip. "Oh no, my dear, the mind reading is just the beginning of what I can do."

Rayanna watched in amazement as Jenni picked up her mug-with her mind.
"Wow-that is quite a trick," Rayanna glanced at the clock. It was late and she had a lot to get done tomorrow before she went in to work tomorrow. She decided to cut to the chase. "So, let me get this straight-either I join up with you guys, or you lump me in with the supernaturals you are killing? Those are my options? That about right?"

Jenni shrugged and put the mug down. She stood and stretched.
"Yeah, I think thats about right. But don't worry, you don't have to answer right now. We'll give you a week or so to figure out what you want to do. Anyway, I have to get going, so have a good night and remember my offer."
She walked to the door and let herself out, not waiting for Rayanna to say good-bye.

Rayanna picked up the mugs and washed them. She then cleaned the spotless kitchen, dusted, and followed her nightly cleaning routine. She made sure the door was locked and chained before going to bed. As she got ready for bed, she thought about what had just happened. A week wasn't much time-not that she really had a choice. Join up or they come after her.
Great. And I can't take all of them. And no Austin to help me out, Rayanna washed her face, brushed her teeth and then her hair. She walked into her bedroom and changed into a nightshirt.
She crawled into bed. Sacramento is turning out to be a lot more interesting than I expected, Rayanna thought as she reached over and shut off the lamp on her nightstand.
