My Idea for a Vampire Character
|
|
|
Hello, Twilight Valley.
I actually live not so far from Sacramento, in the Napa valley.
Anyway, my idea for a vampire character is a Nosferatu who was a novelist when he was alive. He was not a huge critical success, but his books were very popular. He wrote horror fiction which tended to have western themes. His books were the sort that you often come across near supermarket check-out lanes, and in airport bookshops. In short, he sold a ton of copies of just about everything he ever wrote, but his work wasn't the sort of thing admired by fans of "literature".
He was turned into a vampire by a Nosferatu who was less than impressed by his work. The character's sire thought he could show the famous big-shot writer what real fear felt like, since obviously he was not acquainted with the concept.
It worked too well.
Since dying, he hasn't been able to turn out a single decent page of writing. At night, he stalks the grounds of his property. He has a ranch on the distant outskirts of the capital city. When he's not wandering around the property, he sleeps, feeds, or sits despondently in front of an old typewriter that used to love him.
In terms of vampire politics, he's been something of a recluse. He's nominally a member of the Ordo Dracul, but he has not been active in politics in any way. Recently, that has changed. Suburban sprawl has caught up with his hermit-like existence, and now suddenly he has neighbors.
As of the last few years, the realities of Sacramento politics actually impacted his night to night existence. The reclusive writer suddenly feels like he needs to get involved, to have his say, to ... dammit, meet other vampires.
Suggestions for how a character like this could be best integrated to the ongoing game? I'd like for him to have at least a few people he's formed relationships with before. He's been a vampire in the area since the early 70's or so. So, even though he wasn't socially very active, there should be a few vampires around who say something like "Oh yeah, I remember that guy."

Well first off welcome to the site...
As to your concept sounds like fun, were just getting started so not many PC's you could know but we have a few Dragons and other NPC's who have been around long enough that the could help you out in your idea.
Chaos Angel lived near Sacramento at one time so that is why it was chosen, so if things are not 100% correct this would be why were kinda using the name and some of the buildings and the rest is made up fly by our pants. Ich lived thier for a bit as well so he helps keep us a little more level with ideas as well.
Anything else you want to discuss feel free to PM me and we can work on your character and map exactly who you know wand where you might best fit.
Once again welcome, bring friends tell them Lady Frost Has Cookies and the Dark Side _________________

Welcome, RichardT!
Actually 30 years in Sacramento is more than a bit to me, but I suppose it's not much in vampire years.
One of my Vampire's haven is out near Coloma and Lotus, where people go when they go whitewater rafting on the South Fork of the American River. If your character's haven is up in those hills, maybe El Dorado Hills, they could at least have some good chances to get to know each other.
He's a Dragon too, but he just awoke from a long torpor, so they haven't met yet.
My other vampire was embraced in 1985 and left soon after but recently returned.

Mmmmmm...Napa. Beautiful there. I love that we are doing the game in Sacramento, but it makes me miss it sometimes. I've been wanting to go visit for sometime but that money issue keeps coming up. As in not having any.Sucks. Anyways, welcome to the boards. And yeah, go ahead and bring friends.
