Ankh sat in her room, trying to muddle through the book Kai had given her. She had been sitting in the same position for two hours, looking at the same page.
Heaving an exasperated sigh, she put the book aside and laid down on her bed. The last 24 hours had been hell. She'd tried to go out and have a good time and ended up being kidnapped and tested for her Arrow initiation.
She wished West had told her they were going to do something like this. But that was the point, wasn't it? Not to know, so they would get her true reaction. She had passed, yes, but at the cost of revealing something she hadn't even really known until that moment.
She'd told "Drew" she would not betray someone she loved. That was the truth. But, she had not even known she loved him until the words had come out of her mouth. Now, everything seemed different. She couldn't concentrate on a damn thing. She had no appetite, and no gumption. She also felt the urge to hide in her room for a small eternity. She had told Kai she loved someone. It would not be difficult for him to figure out who. How embarrassing.
What does she do now? She can't just act like everything is all peaches and cream, can she?
She mulled that over in her mind for a few minutes. Why not? Kai certainly wouldn't say anything to him. At least, she didn't think he would. It was a moment of weakness, dammit! She thought she was going to die.
She rolled over, facing the wall. Blank, uncaring, impassive. Maybe that is how she should be? Try to start with a clean slate? Try to just get things normal before she went and made them all complicated.
Yeah, that seemed like a great idea. She fell asleep with this thought in mind, but still tossed and turned all night as the nightmares took their toll.
The nightmares of her childhood friends leaving her. The childhood friend's who now all had West's face.
