 What a difference House Arrest Makes! (Lioni)

Antoinette had been sitting in this room for nights now, thinking about her incorrect answers. Thinking about how she could improve them. Thinking about how she had disappointed her Sire.
She was all thinked out.
And then Mr. Hostwick brought her word. God bless this man, she could just kiss him! He told her that Baron Quinton was going to allow her to leave the house once nightly to see the au pair, and continue her lessons.
Antoinette was ecstatic. But she couldn’t believe she was ready to do back-flips of joy in order to go see that awful, wicked woman. It’s funny how your perspective changes when you get your jaw broken, go hungry and aren’t allowed out of your room for several days.
Funny indeed.
She rushed to pick out an outfit, out of the three she had to pick from. She winced when she thought of how her flat had been left in shambles, and the driver’s wife had been asked to go make sense out of all that mess and find her some decent outfits. But at least she had something. Perhaps if she was very, very, very, very, very, very, VERY good at Lady Dupree’s tonight, she could talk her into talking Quinton into letting her at least go home for some more clothes! Essentials!!
She carefully checked her watch. She had an hour and 20 minutes to get there. She wasn’t even going to mess around this time. She jumped into the dress, fixed herself up, and ran out the door in her stilettos boots, laughing at the grin on Mr. Hostwick’s face. Baron Quinton was nowhere to be seen, and that was probably for the best. She didn’t want him to suddenly change his mind and keep her home.
She made her way to the limo (not such a bad limo, as far as limos go. Really!) and told the driver the destination. They arrived 35 minutes early. She went in the back door, and sat quietly, waiting, so Lady Dupree would know she was on time and ready to go.

Lioni steps out of the lesson chamber and looks at Antoinette with surprise.
"Miss Antoinette, I was not expecting you so early." She indicates the room she just came out of, holding the door open for the girl. "Please, come in."
As Antoinette enters the lesson chamber, she takes note that it has changed dramaticly.
The walls are no longer grey and drab, instead drapes of red and black velevet have been raised to cover the horrible grey hue. The table that used to be there is gone, replaced by a very nice cherrywood desk, with a red velvet cushioned chair to match. There is now a pad of stationary on the desk with roses printed on the sides, feintly scented with rose perfume. There is a pen next to the pad, elegent, with a fine point.
The bare lightbulb has been replaces by a silver candle chandelier, lending a soft glow to the surroundings.
"Please, have a seat and we can begin our lesson."

Antoinette rose when she saw Lady Dupree approach and sunk down in a deep curtsey, offering her respect and deference. This time, she wanted to get off on the right foot, if only so she could keep coming back out here each night. She could hear the club's music thumping in the background, and it made her heart sing in delight.
"Good evening Lady Dupree. Yes ma'am, I am a little early. I did not want to risk being late and causing you any inconvenience."
Once inside the lesson room, Antoinette is simply stunned. She almost thinks she's been lead into the wrong room. But this "has" to be the same room – it's in the same place... She takes a seat at the table where Lady Dupree indicates.
"I'm so sorry to interrupt, Lady Dupree, but before we begin, may I give you this?" Antoinette hands her a manilla folder she'd been holding. "I have an acquaintance at the SPD. He usually just fixes my speeding tickets. But lately he has been asking me if I want copies of 'unusual' reports. I asked Baron Quinton, who told me I should accept them, and then told me you might like to receive them and pass them on to someone who could make use of the information. Would that be the case?" she passes the envelope over the Lady Dupree.
"So, what will we be learning today? I am very excited to get started." Antoinette smiles sweetly.

Lioni took the envelope and opened it. Silently, she went through the packet of paper with a frown. Then, she got to the picture at the end and her eyes went wide, then her face changed to one of fury. She got control of herself after a few minutes and looked up at Antoinette.
"Miss Antoinette, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this information. And this will set the tone for our next lesson this evening. Please, gather your things, we are going for a ride."
She opened the door to the lesson chamber, and held it for Anoinette to exit. Then, she went into another room and Antoinette could hear some muffled talking from her.
"I need the car brought around immediately, we are going to be visiting the Seneschal. Now."
She closed the door to the office and pulled out her phone. As she dialed the number, she motioned for Antoinette to have a seat where she was waiting earlier.
"Please, Miss Antoinette, have a seat. I need but a few moments to call the Seneschal and make sure she is available to see us."
She finished dialing the other kindred's number and waited for the phone to pick up.

"Ummm... Lady Dupree? I don't want to be a problem here or anything, but I am kind of in a lot of trouble with Baron Quinton. I have permission to come here and that's about it. I don't know that it's a good idea I'm jamming all over town. Not on the first night he's let me out in days. I mean, what if he came by here to check on me?" Antoinette looks very worried. "Is it OK if I txt him and ask permission?"

Lioni waved her hand dismissively at Antoinette's concerns.
"Yes, I am perfectly aware of your position, dear. But you see, this is part of your lesson and I have full permission to do whatever I feel is necessary to make sure you learm what you need to. How to properly talk to your superiors is imperative in the Invictus and I am sure the Baron will understand exactly why I am taking you with me. However, if it will ease your own fears, then by all means, ask his permission. I will not take any offense, I know the man can be insufferably controling."

Antoinette contemplated her decision momentarily. She didn't want Lady Dupree to think she was some ridiculous little girl that had to ask permission wherever she went. She wasn't was she?
Well, she was this month.
"Just a really quick txt. Just so he doesn't worry where I am. Just in case he decides to come by the Asylum tonight for some reason. I mean, it could happen." It could happen. She rubbed her jaw absently and pulled out her phone, tapping out a quick message.

"Good Evening Lady Twist, this is Lady Dupree. I believe I have some very important information that you need to see and possibly Mr. Freddrick as well. However, I will leave that decision to you. Do you think it would be possible to see you this evening? Within the hour perhaps?"
A pause:
"Excellent." Lioni says, very pleased to hear she could fit into the Seneschal's schedule quickly. "I will also be bringing a guest. I do not know if you remember her, but it is high time she met you anyway. I hope that is all right? If so, I will be there shortly."

"Lady Dupree? Baron Quinton said, 'No sweat'. Just as long as I'm back by sunrise. He'll leave the porch light on for me." Antoinette smiled. "Oh, and by the way, I was presented to the Seneschal already at Asa's party. She's that Daeva woman, right?"
The crushing damage to her jaw all too memorable over being accused of acting like a Daeva, she couldn't possibly imagine being EMBRACED a Daeva. How... base.
Then she got a txt back from Baron Quinton and almost came out of her skin. "Lady Dupree!! Oh my gosh! I asked Baron Quinton if I could throw a Venery party, and I think he was going to say no, and then he changed his mind and said if you were cool with it, he was cool with it!!! Do you think it would be OK if I did that? I can tell you all about my plans on the way over to see the Seneschal! And also, I saw a flyer for a concert that is happening this weekend while I was sitting here – Baron Quinton said I can go if you think it would be OK? Oh... PLEASE say yes. PLEASE!!! I'm not going to make it a month locked up in that house by myself. He's never there. He never talks to me. I'm going to go insane. PLEASE!!!!"

Lioni puts her hand over the phone and glares at Antoinette.
"Miss Antoinette! I am on the phone talking to the second in command of this city. Do not tell me that Baron Quinton was so lax in his tutelage that he forgot to teach his childe basic manners a three year old could follow. Now, please be quiet or you will be returned to the lesson chamber and you will go no where."
