I've been playing PbP for God knows how long, long enough to know that most PbPs don't last very long. Here's hoping that this one does.
So, I'm supposed to submit characters to Chaos Angel? Via PM or e-mail, or does it not particularly matter? Are there any restrictions on which type of character creation new members can use, or can I just send you a Mainstream character right off the bat?

Well if you are planning on playing a Changeling, then Chaos Angel is the person you would want to PM. Sending a character through PM is perfectly acceptable.
Our instant play rules is no more then 60 xp and there are a few restirctions for instant play.
Harvest: Instaplay characters may purchase up to two dots in this merit and one type.
Court Goodwill-this merit is not available for instaplay characters. For those submitting their characters, this merit will be restricted to two dots and you may choose one court at character creation.
Mantle:Instaplay characters can take one dot maximum in this merit. All other characters may take up to three as experience allows.
Token: Instaplay characters can take one (1) one-dot token. All other characters may take up to three dots on this merit. I will allow four dot tokens IF you have a damn good reason why the character has it and a great story on how they came to have such an item. Five dot tokens will not be allowed. They will be given out by ST's only for acts in gameplay.
Restrictions on clarity:
Alll instaplay must start out with a clarity of seven. Clarity can drop no lower than six and be no higher than eight.

Oh, I understand the rules for character creation, I was asking if (as a new player that just signed up) I am restricted on producing an Instant Play character only, or if I can put together a Mainstream character right off the bat
testing to see if my tools work on the boards

Yes, you may bring in a mainstream character as a first character. We have no issue with that. Hell, if you have a good background, your first character could be an elder.

Thanks! I already dug through all the pages I could find like a good little OCD-freak, I figure I'll just put together a background, send it in and then wait for a reply telling me wether to use either the Mainstream or Elder character creation.
Now I just need to decide on a character to use.

Wow, Dred, you're in the Changeling boards. I never thought I'd see that. First showing interest in the Hounds Tribunal, now venturing onto the boards....I may just get you to come around yet!!
And Caliban, welcome. I saw that you are in Cali. How close to Sacto are you? I grew up in that area, the valley. Now I live in Florida. Yeah, quite a change. Anyways, glad to have you here!

You know where Fresno is? You probably do. Hanford is about fourty-five minutes south of there. I've lived in three places my entire life; Los Angeles, then Porterville, then Los Angeles again, and now Hanford.
My Hunterheart is about 50% done, incase anyone is wondering.

Yes, I do know where Fresno is. You live kinda far from Sacramento. Although I could have sworn that Lake Fresno was where my friends and I went all the time in the summer. But looking at the map, that doesn't seem close enough. Maybe. >shrug< I've only been to LA a few times, but San Francisco and that area was home away from home.
We moved all over when I was a kid. Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove, Roseville, Granite Bay, Roseville again, Granite Bay again, then we moved to Florida. My dad builds houses and, I don't know, he would like get tired of the one we were living in, and we would move every two years or so. I hate moving.
And yes, I was wondering how your character was coming along. Do you know which court he's gonna be?

He's in the Spring Court, but he's pretty chummy with Autumn- the long and the short of it is that he believes that all the stuff he had to do while in Arcadia (one of his keeper's hunting hounds) was the universe's way of preemptively charging him for a fantastic life. So now he has a tiny apartment that he keeps his stuff at that he visits during the small breaks between having fun. He doesn't need to sleep (One of the 1st level Spring contracts eliminates that timesink, so now he only sleeps when he wants to), and he only does the things that he wants to do now. It just so happens that the whole magic thing is so very facinating, don't 'cha know?

LOL, yeah that is a bad oWoD reference! I take it pun not intended? And you don't like Changeling...

A Spring Court, huh? Would have guessed Summer. But hey, you're not the steroetype-i like it. Interesting concept. Umm, at the risk of sounding stupid, where did you find a contract that allows you skip sleeping? I don't remember a contract like that.

Quote: | Eternal Spring
The contract of eternal spring provide powers of growth and rejuvination to the changeling, just as spring brings growth and rejuvination to the earth.
Gift of Warm Breath (o)
The character's power rejuvenates a single living target, filling the target with energy and vigorous life
Prerequisites: none
Cost: 1 Glamour
Dice Pool: Resolve + Survival + Mantle (Spring)
Action: Instant
Catch: The subject of the Contract has freely offered the changeling some form of sustenance since the last sunrise.
Roll Results
Dramatic Failure: The subject suffers starvation and fatigue as if he had been without food and sleep for a number of days equal to the changeling's Wyrd, and without water for half as long (nWoD, pg 175-176 and 179-180). For things that can endure longer peroids of deprivation without penalty, increase the time until they are adversly affected (cacti, for example)
Failure: The changeling does not aid the subject.
Success: The contract's subject gains energy. He becomes as healthy and alert as though he had just risen from a full night's rest and had a full breakfast. All fatigue penalties disappear, and any bashing damage or damage suffered from food or water deprivation is fully healed.
Exceptional Success: The subject gains +1 Stamina for the rest of the scene.
Suggested Modifiers
Each point of fatigue penalty the subject suffers (-1)
Each point of damage from deprivation the subject suffers (-1) |
All a changeling needs to do is spend a Glamour once a day and target himself, and tada! It's like he just woke up from a good night's sleep.

Also, what bast of that backstory blurb made you think he should be in the Summer Court? Or was it just the Kith blessing of the Hunterheart?

Ok, I never looked at it that way. That works, physically. But I do wonder what toll that would take on his mind though. Dreaming keeps you sane. If you never sleep, you never dream. And that can cause issues. That may be enough for clarity to drop. Just thought I'd point that out.
So, how long exactly have you been playing WoD??

Oh, he sleeps. Just not every night. He sleeps whenever he wants to, not when some rouge biological cycle tells him to. When he hooks up with a one night stand, he routinely slips into their dreams for some more fun. Also, you know what? Sometimes he just wants to take a break from endless clubbing and whatever he does during the day and sleep.
I've been playing WoD on and off for about four years now. Mostly Mage, but you don't have a Mage Storyteller here. So I decided to make use of my second favorite splat.

Oh, I see. He's a Spring Courtier to a Tee. LOL. FYI, Spring Court does own Club Ember. It may be of interest to him. ;)You can find a description of it in Locations.
And no, no Mage st yet. We are looking for one, so if you know somebody, grab them.

He's fairly meh when it comes to strip clubs, prostitution, etc. He prefers the whole act of procuring a partner more than the actual reward. He's the kinda guy who will walk up to the prettiest person at the bar and try to get them to take him home with them, as opposed to paying someone for a lap dance or a back alley BJ.
If I manage to fit some Striking Looks into the build, he wouldn't mind dancing during Ladies night for some extra scratch and Glamour, though.

Now that would be amusing! You don't really need striking looks as much as expression and a specialty in expression. Striking looks will of course help, but don't forget your skills!! And I should add an amateur night as well. Didn't even think about.

An amateur night would be awesome. And Lis would definitly volunteer to work that night. It would amuse the hell out of her to see some of the guys get up there and wiggle their asses!
