“One nice thing” Kordecki thought ”is I get to pick out whatever I want to work on” This was true as, the department’s basement was a dank maze of unsorted cold cases. Every so often Kordecki would come and spend a day picking a few cases to work on. On this day he was not only look for a “fresh” case, but reinserting a large box who’s case was too cold and far too much work.
With the dirth of oversight the Cold Case division (he and his partner) received it was easy only to show success while burying the impossibly cold cases sufficiently deeper in the basement.
He found three case boxes with the same Case Number 0027-84 (the last two digits: 84 being the year the case was opened). It was odd to find a case with more than one box and that’s what must have caught Kordecki’s eye. Two of the box where very light and it turned out they were both empty. Kordecki paused and examined the three boxes. All the boxes had been sealed, opened and resealed multiple times. The two empty boxes seemed to have been resealed 2-3 times more than the box that still had files in it. “Odd” thought Kordecki. Easy or not it struck Kordecki as interesting; without giving the case a once over he grabbed all three box and head triumphantly back to his desk.

With only a half an hour left in the work day Lt. Kordecki Milled about the station, got a cup of what passes for coffee, and cleaned up his desk. He eyed the boxes. There was the reason for coming in tomorrow, so he would wait till the morning to dive into that case.
He walked with a sense of purpose out by the other departments, to see what was going on. On his mind was whether or not the new intake manifold for his RX-7 came in. If it was, could he get it on and have the car ready for tomorrow. "Safer just to do it this weekend" he thought.

Passing Narcotics, Kordecki overheard some of the other officers complaing about Detective Blas. Apparently, she had put in for a transfer to homicide and this did not sit well with the narcotics division.
Passing Homicide, the room seemed to be abuzz with whispered speculation on the Autopsy Killer and if it was connected to the strange find at the Jones house. Maybe the serial killer was a very sick individual and had moved to entire families rather then just women.
Passing the lounge area, he hears other officers complaining about the arsenist. He had not struck in a little while, but this did not keep the officers from being on edge. They were speculating on the arsenists MO and where he might strike next, but the general concensus was he had no rhyme or reason to his choices in buildings.

"So Venessa is moving to homicide. Maybe if I was 6" taller she would of requested Cold Cases" Kordecki mused to himself. He pulls out his phone and text Joe "Lucky".

With no response from Joe and hunger beginning to poke at Kordecki, he decides to head out. He decides to hit a local bar for some wings, a beer and the lame bar trivia machine.
