Dog struggled out of the car, wondering what the fuck happened. One more goddamn swing. Still couldn't believe the bastard had gotten so lucky. Picking himself up off the ground, he recognized DC's car, but no one seemed around.
He could barely move.
Looking down at himself, he grimaced at the slashes and touched the ichor seeping out of the hole in his chest. His fingers trembled a bit as he felt the weakness of his wounds and realized he was a lot closer to dead than alive.
Stumbling out of the parking lot, he found sparse grass... and the earth. Falling to his knees, he reached out, and into the ground.

Kira had run out when she felt the explosion. She had stood stock still at the sight of the fire. She had to fight the urge not to run away screaming into the night. After she finally had her beast under control, she noticed Dog climbing out of her trunk.
Ahh, shit. This is gonna be fun.
"Dog? Let's get you something to eat," Kira carefully approached him and waited to see how he would react-if he could react. He was probably pretty pissed, and she wanted to be out of arm's reach if he got violent.

Bella followed the others inside, very grateful to Karsh for taking care of the situation. She also ignored Elle's sniffling. It was a CAR. An overpriced piece of machinery that was now nothing more then a pile of ruined worthless metal now.
She listened to Karsh, and then gave Asa a questioning look. She'd noticed he had gotten a text and wanted to know what was up. Raising her eyebrows at him she nodded towards his phone with her silent question.

Asa listened to Karsh, then looked at Tombs and nodded. He would have to come back later to confirm, but it looked like they had their man. One loose cannon, one left the city, one criminal, and one in hiding.
Noticing Bella's look, he replied succinctly, "Bloodhunt has been declared on Gabriel Marcus."
Turning his attention back to Mars, he switched gears. "Yes, I asked him to come. Thank you, Mr. Delven. So the Ordo's library spoke of three similar incidents... in Europe, Egypt and the South Americas, except the Egyptians ghouled crocodiles. The Heirophant also mentioned the Crone, who were wiped out by the Bron."
Asa looked at Mars after his recap. "Is there anything else you came across, or I've forgotten? It seems right now that the Ordo library has been the best source of information."

Marius looked at the young ones as they came back. They gave no explanation as of what had happened so he gathered that there was not much to be done. And who was Gabriel Marcus? His name suggested he was an old one...
He was pulled out from his thoughts when Asa addressed him.
"Your summary is accurate, that is what I could find. It seems however that Ezekiel, who has been studying the libraries for quite a bit longer than I have, found some more interesting occurrences possibly linked to the south American incidences." He gave a very short pause before continuing, raising the anticipation for what important information was to follow.
"According to what he read, it seems that every decade or so this gardening problem has been happening all along the South and has been headed this way. It is his believe that this has nothing to do with the Covenants, but rather feels like a group of Nomads on a vendetta." He enjoyed giving speeches, and he had to consciously stop himself from activating his blood's charm.

Bella considered Marius' words.
"That was kind of the feeling I was starting to get myself. If this were VII we are dealing with, someone would have been approached for recruitment by now. And to my knowledge no one has been. Also, there would be much more destruction going on in a shorter time period and the leaders of the city would be targeted."
She looks at Karsh as she says this, acknowledging him as a leader of the city.
"This seems like more random destruction then anything else. And while they may know what our Prince looks like, it does not appear they know any more about the ruling body of the city. So, if we can assume that this is just a gang of rogue Nomads, then we can assume their numbers are much smaller. This suggests that maybe there are only the five or six that Twist saw when Emma went down. Which makes our job a hell of a lot easier to track them down and destroy them."

Asa considers Mars' and Bella's words, adding, "Well, if we're dealing with a group of nomads with a vendetta --which is supported by the use of the word 'cleanse'-- then the question is also why. I'm not sure it's random, Bella. They've had opportunities for attacks that they haven't taken. O-Yama was allowed to live. Despite two attacks at the Ballo Della Notte, I visited it the other night alone and was unharmed."
"The other question," he looked at Tombs, "is whether or not he's related. Was that an attack, or did he piss someone off, like the cop's ex?"

Nicolo considered these revelations. It made sense. They probably weren't dealing with VII, which was a relief, but any group who would attack Kindred in such a way were enemies of God and the Dark Prophet in his eyes. They all needed to be dealt with in the same manner.
And for now, it really seemed they needed to finish what they had started. "Perhaps we could convince Signore Tombs it is time to come clean with the entire truth, for his safety and the safety of the whole city. And it might a bit crowded in here for them to work properly – maybe the Inquisitora and the Deputy would like to handle this privately in another room? Unless you would like me to attend you Signora Bella?"

Looking at Mars, he said, "You asked me on the phone if I had any suggestions to narrow down your research. Perhaps seeing if there is any reference to wandering bands of vigilantes? Focus on that, rather than the plants. The plants may have just been a new means to an old end."
Asa continued, with a raised eyebrow, "Speaking of phones, keep in mind the first Law of the city. 'The Masquerade is the Law, and the Law will be kept'. Try to avoid speaking on the phone about Covenants, coteries, bloodhunts, and diablerie. I'm sure the Ordo Dracul would also like you to avoid mentioning them by name again, as well as their library contents."
He wasn't sure if Mars didn't realize that phone signals could be intercepted, or if was dangerously foolish -- as his previous attempt to see the Prince had indicated.
Turning back to the others, he asked "Does anyone else have suggestions for Mr. Delven's research?"

Marius had a puzzled look on his face, as Asa lectured him about being more discrete over the phone. He had heard of the rumor that there was technology which could intercept these signals traveling through the atmosphere and beyond, but it had never been an issue in Paris. The phone companies were all directly, or indirectly controlled by kindred and any masquerade breaching material was simply 'removed', quickly and efficiently. This was rarely necessary, as all major kindred landlines - especially covenant phones - were encrypted.
He was starting to doubt the grip this prince had over his city. Plants eating kindred? Masquerade breaches in the news? Bodies removed from the morgue, as Tombs was? Rogue coteries killing kindred in the streets? There was nothing 'new' about this continent, on the contrary: it felt more like the dark ages...
Unfortunately there was no one present here, whom Marius trusted, and so he simply kept his doubts to himself. For now.
"I will look into the vigilantes as you suggested." There was also the question about Tombs... What had happened that brought him into this predicament?
"Also, I might be of assistance with Tombs here if you require it." The ability to force confessions was probably known throughout the Kindred population, it seemed however that no one here knew this trick of the blood.

"That's an excellent suggestion," Asa smiled at Karsh. "We'll figure out the details outside and leave you be." Giving a short bow, he said with sincerity, "Thank you for hosting us, and I deeply apologize for the trouble we seem to have brought with us."
Looking back at Mars, Asa shook his head. "If Tombs hasn't volunteered what he knows by the time these other concerns are handled, I'll return and sort things out."
Who's best suited for the Bloodhunt, and who for the Outsiders?
"Ah, pardon," Asa looked back at Karsh. "Do you have any idea of what kind of resistance can be expected from Gabriel Marcus?" If anyone knew how he fought, or what Gifts he had at his disposal, it would be the Harpy.

Marius nodded in agreement at Asa's decision.
Then he pondered when he had been on a bloodhunt last. It must have been over half a century ago. He was quite the capable hunter, his appearance deceiving the fact. Should he volunteer for the hunt? Perhaps he could become noticed this way... but did he want that?
On the other hand the books he was researching were quite enticing as well.
He remained quite for now, deciding to go back to the library after the others had left. He would rather hunt the rogue gardeners when the time came...

Bella follows the conversation as it happens around her and shakes her head. Sometimes these people just like to over analyze everything.
"Tombs is not involved, he just made a stupid mistake. It happens. As for me, I am going to be looking into the plant people. If anyone wants to come with me they can."
She turns and bows to Karsh. "Thank you for your hospitality Harpy and for holding Tombs until we can have more time to deal with him."
She then began her assent back up the stairs.
