West digested her words slowly. Definitely not what he had been expecting. He watched the little Vampire party break up and go their separate ways. Do they always walk into restaurants and not order anything? Isn't that a bit conspicuous?
"Well, uh, thanks. Really." He wasn't sure what to say. He was pretty sure this was the longest conversation they had ever had without incident, and it bothered him that the thought of the hospital made her sad. He wanted to ask her about it, but she obviously wanted to change the subject. Maybe we both have savior complexes.
He blurted out, into the awkward silence, "Hey, listen. I was thinking about taking dancing lessons, because I'm terrible at it, and, uh, it makes it hard to blend in. Would you want to? I mean, not that you're terrible at it. It might be fun," he finished lamely. Viva la Acanthus. So much for not making things awkward between them. He was so ready to leave now.

Marius followed all the emotional back and forth with very little interest. He had after all just come out here to read a book. It did intrigue him to hear of all these new developments: Homeless mummies? Plants feeding on Vampires? And who were the two looking at him the whole time?
This town had more in store for him than he could have imagined.
After introducing himself as Mars Delven to the rest of the immortals he had not met, or only briefly seen, he dropped a suggestion.
"Why don't the rest of us still here, also head out to a more... quiet place to share information?"
Then he remembered, it was that 'ventriloquist' mortal West, and for the love of it he couldn't remember the others name. Nevertheless he turned towards them smiling, when they were looking again, and gave a short wave of greeting, then turned back to the group.

Ankh gave West a genuine smile, something she had not done in a long time.
"Really? That wouls be great! What kind of dancing were you thinking of? Because, ballroom dancing is about utterly useless. You can't do that in any clubs, trust me. Not without looking like a moron. However, if you were looking for the more exotic type of dancing, then that can be very useful."
A thought suddenly struck her and she turned to him, giving her full attention to the conversation.
"Wait a second, why are you worried about blending in? You blend in just fine. I mean, you're not hideous, you not adonis, like him over there," she gestured in Mars direction with a look of disgust on her face, "you're not average or anything either, but I mean, you're a nice looking, normal looking guy. Why on earth would you need to blend in? I thought being one of us was about standing out in the crowd."

He was about to flip the waving Mars off, but Ankh's smile stopped him. As long as he doesn't follow us, or me, again.
West's smile faltered a bit when she said exotic. That wasn't exactly what he had been thinking, but that's what happened when you just opened your mouth and said something.
"I don't know..." he said in response, "...I guess we've always just tried to keep a low profile. For scouting, or being backup, or like this Banishers deal. Standing out, it just leads to attention..." He realized she had never been a target before. Why would anyone want to 'stand out'?

Ankh nods, lost in thought. When she speaks, it's as if she is talking to herself more then to anyone else. "I can see that, yes. But blending in is so boring. Besides, it's more like a futile attempt really. It's not like we can just go back to leading our normal lives. We're not normal, we will never be normal again. Never have families, or kids, or everyday jobs, or normal husbands. Always have to keep secrets from everyone you know. Can't possibly have a normal relationship. I mean, when you're so damn weird, no normal person wants to be with you anyway. And a date? Yeah right. Good luck with that. Meet a guy in the book store, strike up a conversation, he asks you out and what the hell are you supposed to say? Sorry, I can't, I have to go out tonight and hunt down some Banishers? Yeah, that'll go over well."
Her voice comes out sullen and angry, but then she sighs and turns her attention back to West.
"Anyway, dancing lessons sound great. Where were you thinking of going? Have you found a place around here that teaches dance?"

West looks at Ankh with complete surprise. "It's not like that at all. You can have a normal life. Plenty of us do, especially Mystagogues, Libertines, and Ladders. There are even some that," he wiggles his fingers, "lock their secrets up when they go home... so that they don't have to worry about keeping them from their families."
With a worried expression, he continued, "I mean... what Kai and I do... it probably seems that way... but it's a sacrifice of choice, not a mandate. There's no reason you can't meet a normal guy in a book store..."
West spoke again, after letting the last words trail off. "Anyway. Kai and I do what we do so that other can have those normal lives... without Banishers attacking them in their homes." He looked at her, unsure of what to say next, and half expecting her to say that she wanted to go back to the Ladder. Or be a healer for the Mysterium. Or anything besides running around with the Arrows.

He is a little full of himself…isn’t he? Oh…but he is so pretty!!!
Char was a sucker for pieces of art and basically wanted Coda and his tattoo’s for her collection, so she took his arm and followed him out. When they got to the parking lot she guided him out to an empty darker area.
Oh goodness….he probably thinks I’m going to make a move on him or something. I certainly hope he doesn’t think I’m that type of girl.
“Coda….sorry for pulling you away from the crowd, I just don’t know anyone that well yet and I’m not quite sure who to trust. I noticed that you mentioned the Goddess and that makes me believe you are from the Circle. Am I correct in this observation?”

I guess I’m not in any rush, but it would be nice to know where I am needed. So…if you aren’t with Emma, then are you with Paresh?”
Ahhh..Emma. That’s the one she had been hearing all those rumors about.
“And…what exactly can you tell me of this Emma kindred?”

Ankh shook her head at West's words. "No I really can't. I don't even know how to interact with normal people, West. I Awakened before I even got out of the hospital. I've never been in a normal setting with a completly mundane person. So, I don't even know what one would talk about with someone like that."
Then a smile crept across her face. "Besides, you two really need a woman to keep you in line anyway. And, I would rather know that I am helping to keep other people like us safe so they can have those normal lives. It makes me feel useful."
She wiped her hands off on a napkin and rolled up the remainder of her sandwitch in it's wrapping.
"So, do you have a dance studio in mind? When would you like to do the lessons? My schedule is free, the only things I have on it are our lesson dates."

West nodded, feeling relief, and some sadness at her words. Things seemed to click into place about why she seemed so direct... ostentatious... but it also probably gave her that determination she flashed every now and then. "I saw a place," he started smiling, "called Fair Folk Dance and Dojo, if you can believe that." He stood up after she had wrapped her sandwich. "You want to check it out?"

Ankh's eyes widened with delight. "Really? It's a Dojo too? Oh sweet! Can I take martial arts lessons as well? It would go a long way toward learning to dance. That would be awesome! Yes, yes I would really like to check it out."
Her enthusiasm was obvious as she stood and threw her trash away. She turned to West expectantly, eyes shinning with barely contained excitement.

West was a bit surprised, but shouldn't have been. It was sort of like the saying 'expect the unexpected' with her. Smiling ruefully, he nodded. "Sure, of course. I mean, you're going to be an Arrow." Except for him and Uriel, most Arrows seemed to like the martial arts. Go figure.
Her excitement was infectious, though, and he found himself smiling. "Let's go see if they're still open?"

She jumped on behind him and put her arms around Coda. As she did, she just happened to rub her hands down to check out his abs. She grinned to herself, this would not be dissapointing.
