Matthew entered his appartment deep in inner turmoil. He had lost himself in his rage and gravely violated the Oath of the Moon. The knowledge that the thing was not truly human did little to blunt his guilt and horror.
Even the coming of sleep could not provide relief. His dreams were haunted by flashbacks from the chase the taste of human flesh.

Matthew had hoped that his job could take his mind off of what had happened, but throughout the day, his memories haunted him.
Running with the mindless fury of a beast, his only desire for the death of his prey . . . catching and killing it with the same mindless fury . . . devouring the thing's flesh with no thought to anything but his hunger . . . the feel of the essence as it flooded his body . . . looking on the old man, and seeing only another meal.
As he passed the park visitor's center at the end of his shift, he saw that the incident had made the newspaper. It only served to increase his guilt and inner turmoil.
