The Hedgespun Merit is considered separate from the [[Token]] Merit and may be purchased multiple times. We use modified Hedgespun rules from [[Rites of Spring]] (p. 138), so in addition to ''gaining ST approval'', a hedgespinner must possess the appropriate skills: [[Crafts Skill]] AND [[Occult Skill]] equal to the Merit Dots of the Hedgespun item being crafted, as well as the Merits [[Hollow]] OR [[Resources]] to successfully create the particular custom hedgespun they desire. Please note that the Merit Dots of the Hedgespun item cannot exceed the [[Wyrd]] Rating of the item's creator. Thus, Hedgespun items at the 4th and 5th dot level are exceedingly difficult to craft.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Furthermore, a scene (a glimpse if the creator is purchasing the Hedgespun merit for themselves) must be had before the Merit is purchased between the Hedgespun Item's commissioner and the Creator. This is to help inspire fun scenes that delve into the fantastical nature of the items themselves, and explore the Changelings' ability to craft with the stuff of dreams. &lt;br /&gt;

==Creating Hedgespun==&lt;br /&gt;
The act and art of Hedgespinning is an intuitive thing for many, the pushing and pulling of elements together, weaving and warping items so that they come together in a new and unusual way.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Note that a character must be in the [[Hedge]] while creating a Hedgespun item. The items will stubbornly refuse to yield if manipulated outside the Thorns. However, once crafted successfully, the Hedgespun item can be taken and used outside the [[Hedge]](though all Hedgespun’s genuine mien is concealed beneath the [[Mask]]). &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Intangible reagents are made a part of a Hedgespun item by existing in the proximity to the crafting process. If the recipe demands a cry of pain, then that anguished cry must be within earshot of the changeling Hedgespinning the item while she crafts it. If she herself must give something to the item, such as a whispered promise or a lusty gust of breath, she can do so while her hands work to ease the materials together.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If desired, a character can Roll to craft the item during the Item's scene, however it is not required. Such rolls would use regular Cafting rules, as explained under the [[Crafts Skill]] wiki entry. So, even if a character is using moonlight to forge a blade, the intended durability of the blade would still effect the rolls and successes needed, just as they would for a blade forged from regular steel.&lt;br /&gt;

==Sublime Designs==&lt;br /&gt;
Every piece of hedgespun possesses mechanics that are identical to their mundane equivalent despite being crafted from ephemeral ingredients and fantastical materials. It is also possible to craft 0-Dot Hedgespun, which only require a single success to create and may be acquired with ST approval both at CharGen and during play at no xp cost. These exotic ''trinkets'' function exactly like their mundane counterparts and do not require activation, but may be upgraded with further hedgespinning(and xp).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In addition to the standard mundane statistics(and equipment bonuses) possessed by all hedgespun equipment, each dot spent on the Hedgespun Merit adds one of the following benefits when it is activated with a [[Reflexive]] [[Action]] by ''either'' rolling [[Wyrd]] ''or'' spending one point of [[Glamour]]:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
* +1 equipment bonus to a particular type of roll(similar to a skill specialty).&lt;br /&gt;
* +1 to a [[weapons|weapon's]] damage.&lt;br /&gt;
* +1 to [[Defense]].&lt;br /&gt;
* +1 to general ''or'' ballistic [[Armor]]. This change is reflected by the [[Mask]].&lt;br /&gt;
* +2 to [[Initiative]].&lt;br /&gt;
* +2 to [[Speed]].&lt;br /&gt;
* +1 to [[Durability]].&lt;br /&gt;
* Reduce [[Durability]] of target by -1.&lt;br /&gt;
* Change [[weapons|weapon's]] base damage from [[Bashing]] to [[Lethal]]. This change is reflected by the [[Mask]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When hedgespun is activated, it is &amp;quot;all or nothing&amp;quot;. Changelings may not &amp;quot;pick and choose&amp;quot; which bonuses to activate. Although hedgespun must be activated like a [[Token]] by either calling upon one's [[Wyrd]] or spending a point of [[Glamour]], unlike a [[Token]], hedgespun possess neither a Drawback nor a Catch. Owners of hedgespun have also noticed the curious property that they activate automatically every single time they are taken into the hedge and refuses to deactivate until being returned to the mundane world. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If two hedgespun worn by a changeling should have the same particular type of roll benefit, the stronger item's benefit subsumes the weaker. There is no stacking of benefits.&lt;br /&gt;

Carmela Vincenzzo was a boney little spitfire and a serious troublemaker in New Jersey. Not that she cared, she was well connected through Family. The mafia princess did have a few normalish hobbies, which led to her getting a unique tattoo. A beautiful dark elf woman sticking out her tongue and giving the finger on her right shoulder. So that she could slide a shirt down her bony shoulder and imitate the pose, even if she lacked the curves. The biggest hobby she had however was picking pockets. Which got her caught by Maitre Comte, after picking the Keeper's pocket. &lt;br /&gt;

The Maitre Comte &amp;quot;interpreted&amp;quot; Carmela's tattoo of a dark elf flipping the finger to be an offer of slavery. And warped the girl to fit the image before taking her to train as a &amp;quot;bonus commodity&amp;quot; and a &amp;quot;lowly thief and nothing more.&amp;quot; The Fae taskmaster intended to have the thief refined and sold. Carmela was left to Loyalists to train, rarely did she even see her Keeper. Her Loyalist trainer were harsh as expected but didn't like the elf either. Sneaking, stealing, and bribing helped lighten the load of training but her life became a pattern: train, sneak, steal, bribe, hide, repeat.&lt;br /&gt;

===Escape &amp;amp; Motley:===&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
A waspish swordswoman was responsible for her and her future motley's escape. The Maitre Comte lost to the wasp, losing his composure when he snapped at the enslaved thief. The Wyrd bound Circe as long as she was called a &amp;quot;thief&amp;quot; of some sort, but the girl managed to get the Maitre Comte to call her a cannaiola. One slip of the tongue from the often competent Fae and this freed the cannaiola. Two failures so close, and both before other Fae led the Maitre Comte to throw a hissy fit. A Fae hissy fit, at a Fae party. It got powerful and destructive very fast. Dozens of Lost probably escaped in the commotion. Circe gained her first name from Artemis and Eris calling her &amp;quot;Cannaiola&amp;quot; and they helped each other esacpe.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The Lamppost is what the trio named the place where they came out in San Francisco. It was a private landmark and location known only to the 3, their beacon in the night that led them out of the thorns. She has great loyalty to her motley, the so called Rogue's Gallery.&lt;br /&gt;

Circe took a trip back to New Jersey, to see her family. And found she hadn't left. An older her, a Fetch, was there. She was tempted to strike it down but observation made her very wary of even trying. Cana could've tried to take its place and change her form to match her old self, but she didn't have enough of the Mirrors to do so for long. Worse, while the Fetch seeemed ignorant of its inhuman status, but that didn't make it less lethal. The mafia was proud of the Fetch: a professional killer that did them proud. Circe didn't think she'd win the fight or the war with the Family that'd come.&lt;br /&gt;

===Trobules with Queen Anne:===&lt;br /&gt;
The Rogue's Gallery may have been forced into a motley, as had many others, but they actually got along. And had enough of Queen Anne's shit after being hung out to dry. They aired dirty laundry and may have set the San Francisco freehold into a civil war, but it covered their escape. In the process, Artemis and Eris learned what Circe's &amp;quot;name&amp;quot; at that time actually meant. They renamed her Circe.&lt;br /&gt;

Sacramento was safer, kinder, and better overall to San Francisco. It however wasn't far enough for safety, but Circe was already rebuilding criminal bridges burnt in their evacuation from the southwest. So Circe remained as Artemis and Eris moved to two other cities, planning to set up a trio of power bases that cooperated. They were not together but kept in contact. Circe also prefers to be between Queen Anne's turf and her Familia. Any vengeance must pass her before going after her Familia.&lt;br /&gt;

After a ''grueling'' duel of rock paper scissors with Donovan Ackerman, going into a second round, Circe earned the claim to the crown of Summer.&lt;br /&gt;

Circe foolishly attempted to flirt with Quick, who likes other men. She now takes amusement over watching other women make the same mistake as her.&lt;br /&gt;

Carmela Vincenzzo was a boney little spitfire and a serious troublemaker in New Jersey. Not that she cared, she was well connected through Family. The mafia princess did have a few normalish hobbies, which led to her getting a unique tattoo. A beautiful dark elf woman sticking out her tongue and giving the finger on her right shoulder. So that she could slide a shirt down her bony shoulder and imitate the pose, even if she lacked the curves. The biggest hobby she had however was picking pockets. Which got her caught by Maitre Comte, after picking the Keeper's pocket. &lt;br /&gt;

The Maitre Comte &amp;quot;interpreted&amp;quot; Carmela's tattoo of a dark elf flipping the finger to be an offer of slavery. And warped the girl to fit the image before taking her to train as a &amp;quot;bonus commodity&amp;quot; and a &amp;quot;lowly thief and nothing more.&amp;quot; The Fae taskmaster intended to have the thief refined and sold. Carmela was left to loyal Lost to train, rarely did she even see her Keeper seen, Loyalists were her trainers, and it didn't take too well. Sneaking, stealing, and bribing helped lighten the loud of training but her life became a pattern: train, sneak, steal, bribe, hide, repeat.&lt;br /&gt;

===Escape &amp;amp; Motley:===&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
A waspish swordswoman was responsible for her and her future motley's escape. The Maitre Comte lost to the wasp, losing her composure when she snapped at the enslaved thief. The Wyrd bound Circe as long as she was called a &amp;quot;thief&amp;quot; of some sort, but the girl managed to get the Maitre Comte to call her a cannaiola. One slip of the tongue from the often competent Fae and this freed the cannaiola. Two failures so close, and both before other Fae led the Maitre Comte to throw a hissy fit. A Fae hissy fit, at a Fae party. It got powerful and destructive very fast. Dozens of Lost probably escaped in the commotion. Circe gained her first name from Artemis and Eris calling her &amp;quot;Cannaiola&amp;quot; and they helped each other esacpe.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The Lamppost is what the trio named the place where they came out in San Francisco. It was a private landmark and location known only to the 3, their beacon in the night that led them out of the thorns. She has great loyalty to her motley, the so called Rogue's Gallery.&lt;br /&gt;

===Can't go home again:===&lt;br /&gt;
Circe took a trip back to New Jersey, to see her family. And found she hadn't left. An older her, a Fetch, was there. She was tempted to strike it down but observation made her very wary of even trying. Cana could've tried to take its place and change her form to match her old self, but she didn't have enough of the Mirrors to do so for long. Worse, while the Fetch seeemed ignorant of its inhuman status, but that didn't make it less lethal. The mafia was proud of the Fetch: a professional killer that did them proud. Circe didn't think she'd win the fight or the war with the Family that'd come.&lt;br /&gt;

===Trobules with Queen Anne:===&lt;br /&gt;
The Rogue's Gallery may have been forced into a motley, as had many others, but they actually got along. And had enough of Queen Anne's shit after being hung out to dry. They aired dirty laundry and may have set the San Francisco freehold into a civil war, but it covered their escape. In the process, Artemis and Eris learned what Circe's &amp;quot;name&amp;quot; at that time actually meant. They renamed her Circe.&lt;br /&gt;

===New name, new town, old pen pals:===&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Sacramento was safer, kinder, and better overall to San Francisco. It however wasn't far enough for safety, but Circe was already rebuilding criminal bridges burnt in their evacuation from the southwest. So Circe remained as Artemis and Eris moved to two other cities, planning to set up a trio of power bases that cooperated. They were not together but kept in contact. Circe also prefers to be between Queen Anne's turf and her Familia. Any vengeance must pass her before going after her Familia.&lt;br /&gt;

After a ''grueling'' duel of rock paper scissors with Donovan Ackerman, going into a second round, Circe earned the claim to the crown of Summer. &lt;br /&gt;

So that she could slide a shirt down her bony shoulder and imitate the pose, even if she lacked the curves. The biggest hobby she had however was picking pockets. Which got her caught by Maitre Comte, after picking the Keeper's pocket. &lt;br /&gt;

Carmela was left to loyal Lost to train, rarely did she even see her Keeper seen, Loyalists were her trainers, and it didn't take too well. Sneaking, stealing, and bribing helped lighten the loud of training but her life became a pattern: train, sneak, steal, bribe, hide, repeat.&lt;br /&gt;

A waspish swordswoman was responsible for her and her future motley's escape. The Maitre Comte lost to the wasp, losing her composure when she snapped at the enslaved thief. The Wyrd bound Circe as long as she was called a &amp;quot;thief&amp;quot; of some sort, but the girl managed to get the Maitre Comte to call her a cannaiola. One slip of the tongue from the often competent Fae and this freed the cannaiola. Two failures so close, and both before other Fae led the Maitre Comte to throw a hissy fit. A Fae hissy fit, at a Fae party. It got powerful and destructive very fast. Dozens of Lost probably escaped in the commotion. Circe gained her first name from Artemis and Eris calling her &amp;quot;Cannaiola&amp;quot; and they helped each other esacpe.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The Lamppost is what the trio named the place where they came out in San Francisco. It was a private landmark and location known only to the 3, their beacon in the night that led them out of the thorns. She has great loyalty to her motley, the so called Rogue's Gallery.&lt;br /&gt;

===Can't go home again:===&lt;br /&gt;
Circe took a trip back to New Jersey, to see her family. And found she hadn't left. An older her, a Fetch, was there. She was tempted to strike it down but observation made her very wary of even trying. Cana could've tried to take its place and change her form to match her old self, but she didn't have enough of the Mirrors to do so for long. Worse, while the Fetch seeemed ignorant of its inhuman status, but that didn't make it less lethal. The mafia was proud of the Fetch: a professional killer that did them proud. Circe didn't think she'd win the fight or the war with the Family that'd come.&lt;br /&gt;

===Trobules with Queen Anne:===&lt;br /&gt;
The Rogue's Gallery may have been forced into a motley, as had many others, but they actually got along. And had enough of Queen Anne's shit after being hung out to dry. They aired dirty laundry and may have set the San Francisco freehold into a civil war, but it covered their escape. In the process, Artemis and Eris learned what Circe's &amp;quot;name&amp;quot; at that time actually meant. They renamed her Circe.&lt;br /&gt;

===New name, new town, old pen pals:===&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Sacramento was safer, kinder, and better overall to San Francisco. It however wasn't far enough for safety, but Circe was already rebuilding criminal bridges burnt in their evacuation from the southwest. So Circe remained as Artemis and Eris moved to two other cities, planning to set up a trio of power bases that cooperated. They were not together but kept in contact. Circe also prefers to be between Queen Anne's turf and her Familia. Any vengeance must pass her before going after her Familia.&lt;br /&gt;

Carmela was left to loyal Lost to train, rarely did she even see her Keeper seen, Loyalists were her trainers, and it didn't take too well. Sneaking, stealing, and bribing helped lighten the loud of training but her life became a pattern: train, sneak, steal, bribe, hide, repeat.&lt;br /&gt;

A waspish swordswoman was responsible for her and her future motley's escape. The Maitre Comte lost to the wasp, losing her composure when she snapped at the enslaved thief. The Wyrd bound Circe as long as she was called a &amp;quot;thief&amp;quot; of some sort, but the girl managed to get the Maitre Comte to call her a cannaiola. One slip of the tongue from the often competent Fae and this freed the cannaiola. Two failures so close, and both before other Fae led the Maitre Comte to throw a hissy fit. A Fae hissy fit, at a Fae party. It got powerful and destructive very fast. Dozens of Lost probably escaped in the commotion. Circe gained her first name from Artemis and Eris calling her &amp;quot;Cannaiola&amp;quot; and they helped each other esacpe.&lt;br /&gt;

The Lamppost is what the trio named the place where they came out in San Francisco. It was a private landmark and location known only to the 3, their beacon in the night that led them out of the thorns. She has great loyalty to her motley, the so called Rogue's Gallery.&lt;br /&gt;

Circe took a trip back to New Jersey, to see her family. And found she hadn't left. An older her, a Fetch, was there. She was tempted to strike it down but observation made her very wary of even trying. Cana could've tried to take its place and change her form to match her old self, but she didn't have enough of the Mirrors to do so for long. Worse, while the Fetch seeemed ignorant of its inhuman status, but that didn't make it less lethal. The mafia was proud of the Fetch: a professional killer that did them proud. Circe didn't think she'd win the fight or the war with the Family that'd come.&lt;br /&gt;

The Rogue's Gallery may have been forced into a motley, as had many others, but they actually got along. And had enough of Queen Anne's shit after being hung out to dry. They aired dirty laundry and may have set the San Francisco freehold into a civil war, but it covered their escape. In the process, Artemis and Eris learned what Circe's &amp;quot;name&amp;quot; at that time actually meant. They renamed her Circe.&lt;br /&gt;

Sacramento was safer, kinder, and better overall to San Francisco. It however wasn't far enough for safety, but Circe was already rebuilding criminal bridges burnt in their evacuation from the southwest. So Circe remained as Artemis and Eris moved to two other cities, planning to set up a trio of power bases that cooperated. They were not together but kept in contact. Circe also prefers to be between Queen Anne's turf and her Familia. Any vengeance must pass her before going after her Familia.&lt;br /&gt;
