(PrP DitD) Pretty Pretty Princess

[Daniel Leto]

Daniel got off the bus stop near the Arden Fair Mall. He'd let Milo know ahead of time to meet him here. The Gravewight headed inside to get out of the ever hotter Sacramento sun. Not that inside was much dimmer. Daniel sighed feeling a little uncomfortable. Not that most malls didn't have bright lights but Arden Fair had a glass vaulted sealing that just let the sunshine straight in.



However, it was one of Sacramento's few locations that had a Disney Store. While there were probably other places to get 'princess stuff', it couldn't be denied that of all the merchandise location, this was probably the best for a large selection. It might be overpriced but Daniel had had a recent windfall of people buying his IDs. He'd barely been able to keep up but it almost seemed like they didn't how good the IDs were so long as they could pay money for them. It suited Daniel just fine, so long as he didn't think about what they were using his merchandise for.

He checked the mall map and made his way to the store.



Rather than head inside immediately waited outside on one of the overpasses nearby. The mist of his mantle swirled gently as he scanned the crowd for the handsome face of the Shadowsoul.

Where there's light there's bound to be shadow, and apparently there was plenty of light. Milo didn't share a Darkling's weakness to natural light, but the Lurker's talents were more limited in that sort of environment. Less places to hide from the people brought a degree of anxiety, though the fact he could probably disappear into the crowd if he only needed to escape an individual did help.

As Milo made his way along the deepened shadows of his mantle cast a barely visible shadow over part of the crowd as he approached. Spotting Daniel up on the overpass, the Fairest made his way to the elevators and then to him. The same barely visible shadows pushed meakly against the Winter's aura of mist when he finally got there.

"Hey." He said, leaning down onto the railing of the overpass to look down at the crowd. "So do you have any idea what we should be looking for beyond the nebulous 'princess stuff'?"

"Hey Milo," Daniel said with sedated cheerfulness, looking over from his spot on the railing to the monochrome Fairest. The mists gently embraced the shadows. "Sorry not too much of an idea. I did see Jard reading a book that said he didn't exist." Where Daniel saw this and how was hopefully pretty obvious. "Maybe it had princesses in it. Or maybe he's hoping a princess's kiss could make him real. I'm not sure."The Gravewight shrugged. Without knowing more it was just guess work. It was possible the trauma of the book had nothing to do with the hob's desire for princess stuff.

"But I got a thousand in spare change, so I say we just a lot of different stuff," he suggested with a half smile. When in doubt, buy everything. It wasn't a strategy he could employ most of the time, but his recent luck had left him cash to burn.

The store waited on them: bright, crisp and bursting with saccharide cheer, glowing in the natural light. A press of humanity flows about them and for the moment they are ignored and unnoticed. In these temples to commerce, there is only the individual and their needs. External awareness withers.

"Interesting life goal."

If a little unsettling. The Fairest would definitely have more visible issues then a princess obsession if he had those sorts of existential dilemmas.

"A bit of everything it is then." Milo said as he stood from his position over the rails. "I only have a couple hundred, but I can spend it here if it's needed."

And on that cue Milo was on his way to the Disney store, not at all thinking about the Grimm's and how a true story and princess would be in Arcadia.

Daniel followed Milo into the land of pink and pastel blues. The Gravewight felt very out of place. The Darkling was about as monochromatic as the Fairest. It was little comfort that any sales person would see the Mask. Daniel wore his normal ensemble of gray and black clothes.

He looked around at the memorabilia and paraphernalia.

"Sooo... should we go for the classic princesses first or try to more progressive and find an Elsa or Rapunzel outfit?" he asked with a grin toward the Autumn.

"Classic." Milo said looking around at their options. ""I'm not sure how many movies our target audience has seen recently."

His eyes continued to wander, and after a moment it became clear that he had no idea what to look for. Even with one of the princesses there was a variety of actual products from clothes to dolls and stuffed animals. For Milo, the bright colors were the least alien thing in the room.

"Any idea what form the merchandise should take, or should we just split the funds between everything?"

Daniel gave a slight chuckle at Milo not getting the joke before moving on to the serious business of buying Disney products.

"Well, we're kind of limited by what we can carry. Unless we have shopping cart," Though pushing a (probably stolen) grocery store cart past the Flesh Market and through a boggy swamp wouldn't be Daniel's first choice "I'd say we start with dresses and costume." The chance that Jard wanted the 'stuff' for himself couldn't be discounted. Plus it was easier to stuff a bunch of fabric into a backpack.

"Oh, and a backpack," he added. The Gravewight looked around and was about to flag down a sales associate before he spotted something.

"How about this? It's only... 18 bucks?!" No, wait. He had to remind himself that he wasn't as restricted but money as usual. Still. Eighteen dollars for a pink bag seemed like a rip off.

Milo nodded as Daniel reminded him of that minor limitation. Eyes scanned the clothing, wondering exactly what size the the Princess obsessed fae truly was. He sifted through the clothing, mostly looking lost before the Dakling noted the price. His lips pursed together and slowly crept into a grin at the outrage.

"The backpack looks perfect." Milo said, a soft chuckle escaping at the end of the sentence. "What do you think of these? Think they'll fit him?"

The smile turned just a bit wry as he looked back down to the shirts.
