They weren't reaching Guru, but that wasn't the point. Phoenyx knew how dangerous she could be. She didn't want to start laying into these people without reason, especially if they were undewr somone else's control.

She moved again, trying to get between Guru and the gaggle of actors and the tech, dropping into a fighting stance.

"Last chance." Dark eyes tried to bore into Rosa's.

"Stop!" Becky called out, confusion and fear written in her face. She looked from Malcolm to Phoenyx, back to the leader at the tree. Arms wrapped around closely around her she took a few steps backwards towards the dressing rooms only to stumble and fall. Phoenyx knew that look, Guru possibly as well: this was the expression of someone who is about to break and still can't look away from the thing threatening their sanity.

Malcolm bent down deeper towards the tree, the fingers now finding their way into his mouth pulling at him like dozens of dull fishing hooks. Being the only one of the Mages able to see the thing, Puck had the questionable honor of witnessing how those digits weren't simply touching the inside of Malcolms mouth, but were rather moving inside, dragging and worming themselves out of the ground beneath the tree and into the actor.
For Phoenyx and Guru it looked like he was leaning onto the fallen set-piece and convulsing slightly, all while wearing a manically wide smile.

Guru knew Phoenyx didn't have enough intel but he couldn't help but feel his frustration rise and work a knot in his chest. There was a very clear outlet for his frustration in the vicinity, if words wouldn't do the trick maybe action would. He grit his teeth, set his jaw and as he slipped past a punch he kept moving forward, opening himself up to an attack but grabbing a chair as he moved toward the chair, a flick to close it as his hands moved to the bottom of the legs to make it as aerodynamic as he could. "Not them. Tree."

He didn't know what was happening with Malcom but he knew the answer when the abyss was concerned was always nothing good and nothing good would come from it. If it was let to root it would spread it's rot and fester. Then the whispers crept in, would it even do any good, how could he even hope to do to stop it. Each push forward was harder and heavier than the last but he persisted for now.

Guru's action this turn is to grab a chair and move closer to the tree.

Frustration mounted as Puck cast his evil eye upon the sleepers once more. To be fair, Phoenyx was probably the only person who couldn't see what was going on without assistance. Guru at least noticed the tree, though the nest was swiftly proving less the concern then the obvious ick factor that his hentai thought wasn't going away anytime soon. Oh right, he should say something.

"Under the tree!" He's shouting at Phoenyx and Guru. He can't exactly say spirit here, but he can direct until he has another chance to cast.

With only a few strides Guru crossed the distance to the rows of folding chairs and grabbed one. It was light, it didn't seem very sturdy and the aerodynamics were questionable - but the Shaman was used to thinking outside the box and with a little help of Magic the tree could be an easy target now. The Thyrsus just had to focus, even though there was little juice left in the think-tank.

Apparently for Acanthus the third time was the charm: this time Puck 's spell didn't just barely hinder the actors, it took the winds of Fate and turned them into a full-blown headwind right into their faces. That ought to hold them up for some time, even though Puck's patience and willpower was wearing thin by now.

Tasha watched Guru move away from the tree and her expressionless face turned towards the next-closest target: Phoenyx .

Even in a dress and heels the Talon was in no danger of being hit by the uncoordinated attacks of the tomboy. She didn't even have to focus all that much while she tried to get through to Rosa - training and instincts did the trick (plus, you know, Magic).

The words of the Obrimos apparently get through to the actress: as if she had been woken up by a slap to the face Rosa jerked once, then looked around slowly. "What-?" There was no fight left in her anymore, neither her own nor any that had been forced upon her.

Dark eyes watch the recognition return to Rosa's face. She had gotten through, that much was clear. These people needed their protection from what was going on more than the mages did.

A quick glance to the tree still showed nothing. Not being able to see what they were getting at was a pain, and just blowing it up wasn;t really an option any more.

The Arrow steps through to block one of Tasha's wild swings and goes eye to eye with the angry tech.

"Stop this. Now."

Becky seemed to have somewhat recovered from her fall and was now clumsily crawling backwards until her back hit a wall. Somehow she managed to draw a splinter and somehow rip her cardigan on her way, but those small misfortunes were barely noticed by the actress. Once at some perceived semblance of security she wrapped her arms around her knees and stared at the scene going on. Unless something was to force her again all fighting spirit has left her.

At the tree Malcolm stopped jerking his body around and straightened up in one choppy motion. Fate wasn't kind to him either: apparently Guru's spell left the portion of the ground the actor was standing on brittle enough that the movement made the floor give in. Malcolm fell, his side hitting the fragile remains of the tree. There was a snapping sound as either the scenery or his ribs broke, but that just made his eyes and grin go wider. If feeling was what the thing was going for, this host provided it in spades now. There was another wave of something going through the auditorium. The other actors winced, but constant exposure might have numbed them to the influence.

Or maybe they simply had little more to give.

Guru had had a plan, smash the antenna and stop the spread of its influence. It's the best he could do in the heartbeats of time he had to think about it. OF course it was Malcom, the Nihilist, dedicated to oblivion and sacrificing himself on the altar of nothing. He didn't think he could ever bring himself to understand it. Was there anything even left in these people or were they merely hollow husks pulled on the ends of strings.

He didn't have time to figure out which of his principals would win, the fight against the abyss or the push to protect life. Guru remembered that earlier resentment, that haughty arrogance, the message Malcom had sent. It nudged out which directive won out in the end so as he got to the stage he shouted out to puck but tapped as his temple. "Blind." He hopped that got the point across. He'd look and he'd have answer one way or another because if it could effect them across the Gauntlet they were in it deep and he ran out of solutions.

Well shit...

Puck got the Fate lock down he wanted, but it seemed way to late. Malcolm's twisted smile said the act of possession was complete, and Puck didn't have the tools to exercise a spirit. That being said? There is something left to buy time.

The Enchanter leans in towards Phoenyx and points towards Malcolm.

"Knock him out."

His voice is barely above a whisper. Yet another golden glyph sparks, fizzles, and fades in an instant.

This is going to be a long night....

Phoenyx ' words made Tasha hesitate for a moment, but where the actress had become brittle and meek the techie apparently felt the intruder's influence differently. She didn't call it quits, she just stopped long enough for Rosa to rush towards her and grab her arm. "Bonita, no!" She wasn't strong, nor was she able to get through to Tasha either but the intensity in which she clung to the other woman was almost staggering after the bleakness that had taken hold of the theatre. It made you think of a flame flickering brightest before going out.
