Retainer
Meet Angus. In his own mind he is an Artist; and a Barista; and a man-about-town. Others might call him a Hipster. He would no doubt say he was Bohemian.
None of that matters right now. Right now he is... Flustered. Confused. Terrified.
And he has no clue what to do.
One minute he is sitting opposite hismistress sorcerer girlfriend modelqueen, over meal that is half microwave dinner and half cunning improvisation, talking about jobs, work, and mysteries. The next, he is having to dive to the floor as plates, cutlery, table and chair go flying.
Ingrid, that muse of light and shadow and strangeness beyond strange, has turned from controlled placidity into a storm of fury and tears. Fury now, rather than fate she tears around the room. A table is tipped. An easel is flung as if a tornado has swept through the room; the canvas shorn in two with a fury he as not seen before.
The keening howl cuts into the depths of his soul and he covers his ears while he cowers behind the safety of the settee.
He does not know what to do.
He can only sit in fearful stillness till the storm has passed and with light steps, track down the heart of the maelstrom. Ingrid is weeping piteously in a corner, her rent top somehow clinging to her form. He'd read about "rending of clothes and gnashing of teeth" before but he had never witnessed it until now.
He can only gather up the Darkling creature until the trembling of her limbs abates and the sobbing ends.
And as she calms, he at last remembers what triggered the rage - he had been talking about how some friends had upped and gone to L.A.
Ingrid has been through a lot over the past few months with her Motley melting away. The shifts in the Freehold have not helped either. So this had to be done :P Enjoy.
