They stood outside the casino, looking at it, wondering how to handle the flooded and electrified floor in the magical Dead Zone.

"Why waste grenades, when we can just turn the power off. I can always turn it back on again. Give me a minute to try, if it doesn't work you can still blow the shit out of this place," said Apophis.

West shook his head in disgust. "Hey, Maglight, let's think about this. They're sure to have backup power. First, this is a financial establishment. They're not going let customers grab money and run every time there's a power bump. Secondly, anyone who spends this kind of money on security isn't going to let a three dollar set of wire cutters take them down."

West gives him a direct look, continuing, "So, what's going to happen is that they'll see the power is cut. Then they'll turn out the lights. Then we go downstairs, with flashlights to let them know exactly where we are, and they'll either let us electrocute ourselves, or just gun us down. So, Maglight, if you take out the power, you're on point from here on out. Understand?"

Kai interjects, "So, here's how I see it. We either use those grenades, see what we can do, and move down, or I try and hop over this floor and set out a path using the debris from the previous explosion. One is quick and dirty, the other is going to take time. I like the grenade thing. Even if we don't blow the floor up, we can at least hopefully cut the circuits and knock out the electrical floor. Either way, we should at least create small holes for the water to drain. As for cutting all power? No, no, a thousand times no."

Looking annoyed, Apophis replies, "What keeps her from turning off the lights once we are further in? At least this way she wont be able to broadcast out. This building will be cut off. On top of that, I don't think any local generator will be able to sustain functionality of the entire building, so her resources will be limited. To charge a room with electricity this large will be near impossible on a local generator. I really don't see what the down side is, except that we'll be carrying flashlights, which we'll have to do anyways if she decides to turn off the light."

He returns West's look and continues, "I'm fine with taking the point in the dark."

West shrugs, "Fuck it. I'm not going to argue if you want to take point, and I'll admit you have a valid argument about her turning lights off any time she wants."

The man is reasonable
, Apophis thought to himself as he started to walk back outside. The dead zone immediately fell away, magic once again at his finger tips. Even though it had only been a few minutes he had missed the sensation. He started focusing on the Imago. He saw the building looming in front of him, connected with colorful cables to the surrounding city, like a web playing in and around it. He focused on surrounding the building in a bubble, closing it in. The colorful lines severed, leaving the building dark and empty, completely isolated from the outside world. His Imago took hold an instant later. With the magic back surrounding him, he severed the power to the building. From those inside they could see the lights go out.

Kai looked at Apophis expectantly, "Your show Apophis."

West waves his pistol at Apophis, "Come on pretty boy, let's go."

Apophis walked back, examining his handy work as he went. The entire building loomed black in front of him. He took out his gun, resting his left wrist on his right, holding the flashlight over the right side of the pistol. This way his left arm was shielding a large part of his heart.

He slowly moved down the stairs, keeping an eye out for any surprises. He carefully dipped his boot into the water, ready to retract it - or rather have it knocked back - if it was still electrocuted.

West carefully followed Apophis, keeping a distance of about 4 feet. His jacket was buttoned over his shirt, and the grease from the tire jack he had smeared on his face helped him fade into the shadows. He carried his flashlight, but didn't turn it on. The stairs leading down into the pit were completely different now, a descent into a dark void.

The electrical current arcs as it finds a ground as Apophis foot hits the water. The buzzing crackling of the force filling the air for a moment. The electricity rushed through his foot into his body, making him convulse. There was a brief moment before the pain hit him How... His body was out of his control, stuck in the deadly trap. In a strange sense he enjoyed the sensation, as he had been electrocuted more times than he could imagine, sometimes from his own Magic having gone hay-wire.

West watched Apophis' body convulse, the sharp pop in the air testament to the remaining current in the water. West watched as the man spasmed twice more before falling in the water. The MagLight popped and flared before going dark, and West was left staring down into pitch blackness.

Somehow, "I told you so..." doesn't seem appropriate...

West went back outside to the others.

Shaking his head, he told them, "They've got backup power. Apophis found out the hard way."
