I just wanted to remind people that the Beast is alive and well, even though we don't do a lot of rolling for it.

When you roll, bad things can happen. You can Frenzy, and then the people you wanted to meet end up ashing you. Or they just stake you, and you have to be revived with a brand new Vinc. Or maybe nothing happens and you Rotschreck cleanly away... but then you're 'that guy' that can't keep his shit together and everyone knows it.

So we moved away from rolling so that you can jump in the game without playing Predator Roulette... but it's still there. You still feel it.

    Describe it.

It's been almost a year, and I still remember a post by West from the Red and White Court. I'm showing this as an example (not to be copied of course ) This is an excerpt from one of that post.

Watching as more than a few unfamiliar faces arrive at Court, Asa is slightly surprised to see an old face returned, and a reclusive one appeared. There is an ever so slight frown at Arnold's tie, but it passes. The Beast hisses in his ear; at that, at the painted Bishop, at the bathrobe. Hisses and whispers of disrespect, punishment, of his Court, and his Domain. The Beast within is always green, and scaled, with clawed hands that can snap necks -- and Asa despises it. He silences it with a flurry of rose petals and attar.

    Hello Vampires!

The ST's have noticed that Predator's Taint is not being Played out by many people. Going forward, you will receive one warning if you are caught not RPing it out. After this warning, you will be Docked XP; 1 for the first offense, 2 for the second and so on. This is not only for large court scenes, but any requiem scenes from this point forward. It should be a reaction each time you meet a new vampire. Even if you know them, your beast will still react but perhaps less If you have a familiarity with that kindred. (Familiarity Definition: the state of being familiar; friendly relationship; close acquaintance; intimacy. Basically more than one or two casual conversations.)

If we continue to notice that Predator’s Taint is being ignored we will go back to making people roll every time they meet a new vampire.

Keep in mind those who have Mask of Tranquility. This power should be listed either on your signature or the public view of your minisheet. Your BP should be the same way if you do not have Mask of Tranq. For those of you with the Mask of Tranquility, your beast will still react to those around you, and you should make mention of it.

I know many of you are new to the site. Please make sure you are reading the OOC Living Room threads for important information regarding play, and announcements.

    Thank you,
    Your friendly neighborhood Bloodsucking ST's

This is just to clarify, and change things. We've been playing The Wrong Way, for various reasons, but we've discussed it amongst the VtR STs and have decided to go with RAW rather than continue as we have been.

    The two big things:

AwarenessCharacters risk frenzy and Rötschreck only when they are aware of the presence of the other Kindred. It is entirely possible, say, for a vampire to see another, unknown vampire feeding in an alley and thereby cause her own frenzy check as her Beast senses the rival Beast. While the other vampire is preoccupied with feeding he remains oblivious; only when he becomes aware of the other Kindred does his Beast respond to the presence of the first. -- VtR p.168

Characters must be aware of the other. The Taint is not an aura that is projected around a Vampire; it's an instinctual recognition that the other person one has encountered is also a predator (unless Masked).
    - This means you don't feel someone enter a room.
    - This means you don't feel someone sneaking up behind you.
    - This DOES mean that any awareness (sound of a voice, touch of a hand in darkness) triggers the Taint

    Potency
There are no "degrees" of Taint. A BP10 Vampire feels identical to a BP3 Vampire to a BP1 Vampire. There is either Anger or Fear.
    - Anger is triggered if the other is the SAME OR LOWER
    - Fear is triggered if the other is HIGHER

    Aspect of the Predator
This power only affects the user. A BP1 Vampire does not appear as a higher BP to a BP3 Kindred. It simply allows the user to experience anger instead of fear.

Well I do have one question, the Raw book does state that it alters the way normal interactions of BP are changed. like so:

    QuoteQuote:
If the character’s Blood Potency is lower than that of the unknown Kindred, treat it as equal. If the character’s Blood Potency is equal to or higher than the unknown Kindred, this power has no effect.
So is it a houserule that the other kindred that the power user is a weaker one?

I'm having trouble understanding your question... could you rephrase it?

Hey Jokor, by raw that sentence applies only to the kindred which has protean active. It allows him when he fails a roll for predator's taint to go and fight instead of running away like a chicken.

What I believe was the rule in EoD was that other kindred felt the kindred with protean one active as a kindred with the same BP as them. I guess this had been put in place due to the fact that we normally don't roll predator's taint and therefore protean one would see scarce or no use.

If the character’s Blood Potency is lower than that of the unknown Kindred, treat it as equal.
    (You react with anger.)

If the character’s Blood Potency is equal to or higher than the unknown Kindred, this power has no effect.
(Has no effect because you will already react with anger.)

    Hope that helps.

So when does the fear reaction kick in?
