Ghost-written for Max Heinz & approved by Mykel

Max noted the time out of the corner of his eye as the soles rasped on the industrial carpeting. It had taken Nicole Jordan fourteen minutes of sitting quietly to realize that he wasn't going to acknowledge her.

The pen strokes counted off more seconds as she stood at his desk. He continued to write, with the calm certainty that whatever he was doing was of greater import than whatever she had stayed after class to discuss.

Most certainly it would be about her slow descent into mediocrity, a condition that fourteen minutes had just testified to.

Max finally put the pen down and looked up, knowing that the minutes would continue to drag out until she spoke. At her seat in the auditorium, it was one thing; here, this close, he couldn't risk her noticing that he wasn't breathing, and Blushing for a three minute conversation with a student would be a criminal waste of Vitae.

He sat and let her deliver her little spiel, even taking a moment to look at the smooth perfection of cleavage as she artfully leaned forward.

What she proposed was out of the question, of course. The risk factor was simply unacceptable for a few minutes of carnal banality.

Besides, hadn't he just had sex? A few months ago with Elanah?

He had, of course, and enjoyed it, if he recalled. He looked more intently at the young woman, mentally undressing her, and taking her on the desk.

Perhaps even being the aggressor.

A detail was added here and there; how her panting breath felt on his neck, what color socks she wore. He savored the interstitial for a few moments, and mentally noted that if he had done such a thing, there would be a dreadful mess to clean up; the contents of the desk's surface, the smelly, sticky young woman, and both in a state of dishabille and compromise.

No, what she proposed would never do, at all. It was bad enough he might have to take time to feed this week, and all the bother that entailed.

Four silent minutes later, Nicole finally left, face crimson from embarrassment and anger.

Max returned to his Work, with a release of a happy sigh and small smile.
