(2306) Court

Time enough had passed and so the sole Ventrue of reputable quality made his own entrance through the Asylum doors. His shirt had the sheen of silk, yet it was overlaid with leather straps and silver buckles down his forearms and across the trunk of his body. The Lord scanned the room before nodding for the door to be barred behind him. A necessary precaution given the nature of Kindred and the events to take place this evening.

Approaching the event gathering he first bowed deeply to the Prince, followed by a slightly shallower bow to the scarred Seneschal and last but not least- even shallower bow to the Reeve. A nod was given to Albert in his station as Priscus.

As he looked around the room he couldn't help but notice the absence of one of the competitors- Mister Heinrich. Being certain of his absence among the faceless Kindred gathered he then looked to both the Reeve and the Seneschal as they stood on the mat, appearing as they were about to spar. A corner of his lips twisted into a grin. Was there an eagerness for those two to fight each other? Perhaps the Reeve had a bone to pick with her Priscus? Or was it the other way around and the Priscus looking forward for the opportunity. He extended his hands outward to each side to call attention to his imminent announcement.

"Good evening Sacramento.

Tonight is a night many of us have been looking forward to for quite some time. For others and recent arrivals it is a glimpse into witnessing the finest of Sacramento. Or..." He glanced to Joshua and Raul, "It is an opportunity to step out from the shadows and into the spotlight."

He turns to Helen and Jennifer, "It appears the Reeve and Seneschal have graciously volunteered to kick us off with our first event- unarmed combat." The Lord reaches into a small canvas bag and produces two wooden cylinders about eight inches in length, handing one to each of them. "These are your keys to victory. You will notuse them as weapons to strike each other. Instead, your goal is to render your opponent prone while you are holding a key and your opponent is not. To be clear, you can render your opponent prone at any time however you will only score a point if you overpower your opponent to the mat while the conditions are met. Best two out of three rounds wins the match. Whomever wins the first round will be reactionary in the second*." After a short pause, "No biting." He adds with a charming smile.

Please see World of Darkness pg 157 with specific attention paid to Grapple, Render Your Opponent Prone, Draw Weapon and Disarm weapon. First round will be based on initiative, but the second and third will have whoever lost the previous round as primary in the initiative. Special rule for this event: While holding a cylinder you have a -1 penalty to your unarmed combat rolls.

Just so this isn't posted just on discord, these are considered COMBAT rounds and so when you are actively competing you are expected to post every 24 hrs instead of the normal 48. If you do not post within 24 hrs of the last post then you will be considered to have held your action.

[Raul]

Raúl nods to Joshua as the man addresses him, the Dragon watching as the two Haunts start to square off. "I'm not sure I'd want to bet in this case." Both seem very competent fighters. He watches for a few moments longer before giving a nod to his fellow Savage, "I shall return," before walking off across the room.

He makes his way towards the Trapped Hall, pausing for a moment to look at the placard, checking the rules of the game. He nods to himself once. Simple enough rules. Just don't make any noise. He takes a peek down the hallway, letting his alert and observant gaze take in as much as he can. He sheds his jacket, draping it over the back of a nearby chair, leaving him in just his form-fitting shirt and jeans. He lifts his right leg once, bending it at the knee, as if he were flexing before a run and then he starts his way into the trapped hallway.

[Albert Baker]

Al returned without having found Mr. Krait and noticed the doors had been barred so the... people frequenting this... establishment couldn't get in, which was good. While looking around and paying his respects he noticed almost all of the contestors were present except for Mr. Heinrich. Mr. Krait was busy as the referee of the first match of unarmed combat. He had planned to try his luck at the Trapped Hall, though it seemed that Mr. Dominguez had that idea first. Thus he had a seat with a view of the match.

The Savage seemed quite content sitting and watching the combat. Though she was surprised at the back and forth, fully expecting Helen to have the upper hand.

But one thing she knew, and that was to never underestimate your opponent. And she would not have expected the fight Jenn was putting forth! There was a sense of pride at seeing her confidant holding her own.

Though the question remained…who would win?

The Lord watched the back and forth in the match. He knew the Seneschal had joined for the simple act of participating in the events but she certainly was giving the Reeve a run for her money. In the end there could only be one victor and the crowd seemed fixated on the match.

Still, there was only so much time in the evening and a few more events to be had. He gazed to Raul who seemed to be assessing the trapped hall. He then looked to Albert, "Priscus Baker, you are free to make your attempt at the Trapped Hall."

"Mister Dominguez and Mister Gonzalez, I believe you now have an understanding of the rules in action. Please step in the other ring to begin your match." He gestured to the other mat next to the one currently in use.

Liam speaks with Raul at the end of the Trapped Hall challenge. When the evening nears its conclusion and it appears there are no other competitors, Raul returns to Raul and bids him to come claim his prize. Liam speaks respectfully, yet loudly enough for those gathered to hear him.
"Mr. Domínguez has excelled at the Trapped Hall challenge. Although Priscus Baker did quite well." A nod to the Priscus. The ghoul surveyed the Regnant still engaged in the unarmed compeition. Liam stepped to a side room where ghouls and proxies awaited their regnants and brought out a blonde woman of about thirty. She wore a gold bracelet with an ornate symbol, obfuscated in stylistic choices to avoid showing Masquerade symbols in public. Yet the symbol clearly signaled Kindred property.

"The Seneschal bestows to you a member to add to your herd." Liam states to Raul.

The Lord offered a brief applause at Raul's victory. "We will be postponing the chess match until July's court, but I do hope you are enjoying the challenges you've seen so far."

Court, and the Tournament, concludes! I hope that you enjoyed the unusual compeititions. I am implementing Timey - wimey semantics in that the remaining contests are running simutaneously, and in chronological time would conclude when Court 2306 concludes. The contests will take time to complete.
I have been guilty of this myself in the last contest, yet do your best to post on time.
