What she saw was... yikes, but it made the Enchantresses mind whirl with a million questions. No answers anywhere in sight. No way to get them, unless they could somehow study this creature. Perhaps trace it back to its source somehow? She wondered if it intended to attack them. It had had its chance, and so far the effects, while unpleasant, weren't directly hurting them per se. Just making it harder to hurt..uh...it.

"What they hell do you guys wanna do here?" She said in a whisper. "Kill it? Take it with us? Try to study its pattern to see if any traces of its creator can be found?" She wanted to consult here, and really that's all she could do, with Phoenyx taking point.

It was shocking, and that feeling of weakness and lathargy weighted on her, and her choices.

The thing continues glaring at the mages. Eyes flick around as the rapid, uneven facsimile of breathe resumes. The throatstalk remains pointed at the mages. The quivering stops, and flesh from the tip of the thing seems to peel backwards. It's yellowed and jagged teeth come to the fore, pointed outwards like knives. The vein remains trained on the mages, before lunging forward at Phoenyx. While the attack looked as repulsive as it was effective, the Arrow has little difficulty evading it. However effective the creature might have been it's attacks just weren't as effective as an Arrow with their rituals properly sorted.

Witch didn’t hear the end of the question that Moira started to pose. What she did hear was Phoenix’s statement.

And then what she saw was presumably the dumpster noise maker lunge toward Phoenyx. With very clear intent of damage.

As if the lethargy weighing her down wasn’t already a clear signal. Which was going to be a problem. She wondered …

Moira got over her shock and gripped her knife tighter in her hand and attacked as the thing after it lunged at Phoenyx. Her heart was pounding so hard she could hear it in her ears, the blood rushing through her body made her skin clammy, and yet she felt cold all over at the same time. The lethargy from the creature was hard to overcome, it took every bit of her will and unbeknowst to her, a little push from something higher.

Given that Belle hasn't gone within the time limit I'm going to take my turn.

Phoenyx whips out her ritual knife with one trained, fluid motion, and lashes out at the creature!

Stabbing a the tendril, it weaves easily out of the way of her strike.

Phoenyx uses Quick Draw for the knife to draw & attack.

Belle wracks her mind and can think of nothing pertaining to this creature. It is entire;y unlike anything she has ever heard before.*

Phoenix and Moira both lash out with their daggers, and Moira manages to cut into the leathery hide. It wheezes in agony as terrified eyes flick up at her. The veinstinger lashes out once more, but against a far more vulnerable target.

Moira.

The teeth find their mark, and pierce deep into her chest.

Belle...doesn't recognize this thing. What? Seriously? I could've sworn something like this would've come up somewhere in my studies. She's so flabbergasted by this gap in her knowledge that the swirling chaos of action around her doesn't catch her notice until the thing has lashed out at...

Belle pulls Space around her as she draws her weapon, allowing her next strikes to ignore both distance and armor. Even as she does this, she feels her limbs balk against the crushing influence of the Anomaly they're trapped in as well as the angry bite of reality as Paradox forces course through her limbs like molten fire. She snarls, but she holds ready for a chance to strike out at this thing.

Next Paradox roll should be at +1 pool, I believe. Forgot about drawing weapon rules for combat and rolled for attack, but won't include it in this post for combat timing. Once next round comes up, I'll reroll.

[Witch]

As the glint of metal flashed toward the entity, Witch had the brief thought that maybe she should indeed take Phoenyx up on her teaching offer.

She was useless in this fight against ... whatever it was.

Well, she would just have to trust her companions. And perhaps when they had finished the immediate threat aspect, she would be able to provide information.

Though with all the bobbing and weaving it was awfully hard to see.

However, the Arrow seems to be really off her game as the blows still swing wide.

Moira bit her lip to keep from screaming in agony as the things teeth sunk into her chest. It was a painfully deep bite, and she knew she would be hurting for a while after this. It wouldn’t be too long until she could not physically continue the fight.


Lessons learned about Armoring up before ‘winging it,’ loud and clear but also too little too late. They had to stop this thing and so far it hadn’t been going well…
She made the decision to strike out at it again… while she still could and she would then back off and armor up, cause she was pretty sure another bite like that, and she would be all but useless physically.


She just couldn’t let Phoenyx stand alone up there, while the other mages rallied. Her clammy hand gripped the dull blade tightly. Her knuckles whitening from both pain and determination, as she brought the blade down again, as hard as she could.
