(DG) Graveyard shift, the second.

    Bodies have gone missing over the last few months. It started out pretty unremarkable, but the cases increased lately. It apparently wasn't enough to involve Sleeper authorities (or the ones responsible made sure to grease the right palms), but for those looking out for potentially dangerous things it started to become noticeable. Two locations have appeared repeatedly when one started to look into those cases: a local hospital downtown and a smaller morgue by a graveyard in the outer parts of Sacramento.

    A small group of Mages got together to look into things - one of them went and looked for answers among the living, while other Awakened have decided to watch the dead.

    Zeromancer had already staked out the graveyard which has reported a few disappearing bodies. Unfortunately, the last time he tried it wasn't as successful as he'd liked. Sucks not to be an Acanthus. But that didn't mean he couldn't try again, this time with some fresh faces for backup.
    The graveyard was located in an area just bordering on an industrial zone and had accordingly few (i.e. none) people around at this time. The graveyard lot was relatively small and was surrounded by an unceremonious red brick wall. At the entrance (which was locked) was also the building containing the morgue for bodies waiting for their burial.

    So far things were pretty uneventful - maybe this time things would turn out to be more fruitful.

    Zeromancer walked up prepared for the night. His new companion by his side, he was ready for a long night. He was not sure what he would see or who he would find, all he knew was that bodies were disappearing and he needed to do something to stop them.

    Zeromancer looked around, the new guys were not quite here yet so he decided just to chill near the gates until they arrived.

    The warmth of a campfire, shadows softening at their edges, the smell of woodsmoke in the air.

    When vulgar, it's the heat of a pyre, the air darkening with ash, the smell of burning flesh.

    As far as bodies and the components they broke down into, the human variety wasn't her niche. But there was no denying that overlap existed. And so after hearing the whispers of rumors amongst her circles, she found herself walking down the sidewalk toward a morgue-graveyard combo. She wanted to say that she was focused on the serious task of investigating that they were about to entail upon.


    But in reality she was trying to decide which iteration of Scooby Doo had the most appropriate theme song for the event.


    The elimination of the one from A Pup Named Scooby Doo was easy. And of course the original was a classic...


    "Good evening," she greeted neutrally as she approached the gates and the man standing at them. As much at ease as any solo female walking up to an intimidating man late at night.

    The smell of gasoline and rubber fills the air. Metal and machinery rattle and feel strained and engines roar to life. Unoccupied vehicles might appear to have shadowy figures within them.

    Nos is last to arrive, and does so in the same green Viper that she did to the Circle of Creation, parking outside the red brick wall and hopping out. She seems to have dressed for a night of sneaking around, with black jeans and a matte black leather jacket that zipped up... but not that practically, as Nos has still bothered to apply dark blue lipstick and eye shadow, both with glittery elements to them. As she approaches Witch and Zeromancer, both can see that she still hasn't managed to clean all the grease off of herself, with a thin smudge across her forehead and on her neck.

    "What's good, people?" She says in an excited tone of voice. Graveyards creeped her out a little, and she was trying to cover it up with a little extra pizzazz where she could.

    The three Moros met at the gates of the cemetery, united by the hunch that this might be the night they'd catch whomever was responsible for the rumors red-handed. There was very little information to work with so far, except that some locations were apparently prone to disappearances.

    If they checked the gates the Awakened would find them locked, much like the morgue which was located a few feet down the wall. There were a few options for the Mages present: they could try to get access to either the graveyard or the building to look for any leads or wait for intruders. They could also search the area for a good place to lay low and observe.
    And of course, with them being Awakened there were dozens of other opportunities to prepare.

    And whatever the theme song Witch might decide to go with - Nos' tuned up Mystery Machine promised at least a quick getaway in cast things went south.


    Keep in mind that Sanctuary has already entered continuity, so at least you know each others' faces.

    "Roberta, do you think you can scout around and see if you see anything?" Zeromancer says to his ghostly ally just as he sees the two new mages step up. He recognizes them from Sanctuary so he is at least familiar with the new faces. "Oi, over here, the name is Zero. So what do you guys think of this situation? I was thinking we can do some investigation around the morgue before we set up a stake out. Male sure we have not missed them, and maybe find some evidence of them if we have." After the last failed attempt, Zeromancer was ready to get on with the investigation.

    A flicker of a smile at the excitement in Nos's voice. She knew she wasn't the only chick out there with an interest in graveyards, but it was still pleasant when another showed up. "Hey," she greeted with a chin lift.


    "Go straight for the big target eh?" she said, her eyes looking to the entrance of the morgue. Locked doors were likely not an issue but security systems ... they were another story.


    "I'm Witch" she said as she scanned the building looking for cameras or other such obvious measures of security. She had said it at the churchCircle, but there were a few folks there and just in case it had been missed, it was worth repeating.

    "Heya, Zero. Corn gave us yer name but I guess ya never got mine, huh? Sorry 'bout that... name's Nos." She throws up a peace-sign as a wave of greeting, then smiles at Witch. "Good ta see ya again, sister!"

    As for thoughts... "Uhhh... stealing bodies is creepy? OH, you mean strategy? Yeah, sounds good, brother. Just full disclosure... I'm not like great with dead bodies, ya know? I know, I know, 'haha yer Moros, idiot' and yeah, yer right... but I don't really vibe with like... human bodies. Or once that have decomposed, uh... this little." Nos scratches nervously near the oil stain on her neck and offers a wry, self-deprecating grin as a sort of unspoken apology. "So if this shit turns all 'Night of the Living Dead' or whatever, I'mma beat feet. Y'all just get to the car before the engine turns, or I'll get ornery."

    Nos weakly poked at the locked gate. Could she break it with magic? Probably. Was that overkill? No doubt. "I don't suppose either of you can jimmy this baby, eh?" Looking up at the brick wall, Nos cranes her head and stands on her tip-toes, achieving almost no added insight. In any case, she was fairly certain she could climb it, especially if she used her car (or asked a teammate) for a boost. "If not, I don't mind goin' climbin'."

    Roberta regarded Zeromancer with a patient, melancholic look. To this day he hasn't really been able to reliably gauge what that look was supposed to mean, but after a few moments she nodded once and started walking off. Chances were the wall around the cemetery was also standing tall in Twilight, so time would tell if she would get back with any useful information. Or what kind of information the ghost of a deceased child protective servicewoman would deem useful.

    Maybe it were the months, if not years, working at museums and picking up common signs for security measures while at the job. Maybe it was what she had been taught since joining the Guadians.
    Either way, Witch scanned the area in question for any obvious signs of security and came up with a few things to note: she noticed two cameras where one would suspect cameras to be, but those were just plastic cassis without any real function. Somebody has been skimping on those expenses.
    The windows were reinforced with wire, but as far as she could tell they didn't look new or particularly damaged. Weird, considering this place had allegedly been the target of a few break-ins so far.

    Nos meanwhile focused on the cemetery gate. It didn't look sturdy and the walls looked definitely climbable. If she had to guess she'd say they're around 8 feet high and the rough surface could give her enough options to place her feet. That would definitely give them a leg up if the thieves were to go for less fresh bodies.


    Nos just a heads-up: carelessly talking lingo in the open will have consequences. Consider this a warning.

    Zeromancer walked down towards the morgue. Keeping his head on a swivel he looked around for any clues that he may find. He wasn't sure where to start but he was sure that the people who were taking the bodies were probably looking for something more fresh.
