The Vanishing Plot Chapter 1: House Call

Twist had danced with three attackers in Citrus Heights. They were good with the knives that they wielded. Yet she was Twist. Twist had thrown the last attacker into a light post and watched him slump to the ground, not rising. Twist realized two things simultaneously- cars were approaching and an attractive Blonde and another woman, dark skinned with caramel brown hair in a braid, were watching the scene, wide eyed. The blonde has an athletic build, wearing a jogging outfit in steel grey. Her straight, shoulder length blonde hair is layered around her face. She is passably attractive, yet not overtly beautiful. The second woman is around 5’5’’, with a curvy build and strong shoulders. She wore an athletic short skort and a tank top. She was holding a cane tightly, as though expecting to have to defend herself.

There were two cars approaching – muscle cars that looked expensive. The cars drew to a stop and idled, taking in the scene of Twist , the scene of the fight and the slumped bodies. Then they turned and drove in the exact same direction that Twist herself was traveling in. Glancing back, the women appeared to be running to a nondescript black van, not looking at Twist.

Twist continued with her plans to travel into Folsom to the Millarr stronghold. Upon arriving, she realizes that she is not the first to arrive. One of the muscle cars that she had noticed outside of Rocky’s was parked here, doors standing open. No one was in the car.
There is an unknown woman slumped on the ground about ten feet from the muscle car. The woman appears groggy and out of it as she sits on the ground, one hand on her neck. Twist can sense the smell of blood in the air. After a moment of taking her in, Twist recognized her from the scene outside of Rocky’s. There is no sign of the black van or the dark-haired woman with the braid about.

It seemed Kalos would get more than forgiveness for his pushing.

Moving quickly to the woman's side, Twist knelt, doing a little pushing of her own.

"Who are you? And what happened here?"

It was hard, so hard, to not just skip past the woman. To rush inside. One muscle car, one van. Even with both full the numbers didn't daunt her. But he was inside, and she had just as much faith in him.

So first she would try to be smart. Or at least, smarter than the blind rush she itched to do.

"Nicole. Nicole Ward. My cell mate and I saw some dangerous guys and thought we should follow them in case we needed to call the police..." A hand pulls away to look at the blood on her hand. She looks upset, but is not crying or hyperventilating.
"I saw these big guys breaking into this place... they have a battering ram? And someone grabbed one of them, and there was a fight. The fight went inside." A gesture to the door battered and standing open.
"I got hurt. I don't know... where is Jendayi?" She looks around. "The van is gone."

There is the sound of breaking glass from the Millar stronghold.

Cell mate? The term wasn't immediately familiar to Twist. Thankfully it also wasn't immediately relevant.

'Battering ram' was though. It meant that this was more than a couple of idiots trying to take advantage of the chaos of the night. It was a planned attack against the Millars. Fingers curled into a fist, but Twist managed to keep the snarl off her face as she turned her gaze back from where she had followed Nicole's gesture.

Inside was good though. Outside the risk of masquerade breach was increased. Inside was another story altogether.

"Stay here. Don't come inside. Don't get involved."

It was a hasty set of commands, clumsy like the discipline in comparison to Majesty. But her focus was elsewhere. On what or who Asa had dragged inside.

The woman slumped back where she was, apparently malleageable to Twist's command. The blood on her neck continues to trickle as she carefully places her hand to her neck.
Within the entranceway, there is destruction. Pieces of wood crunch underfoot as Twist progresses past the breached door. Immediately on the floor by the door, she sees a slumped, dissected figure wearing a black leather jacket, shaved head and his face smeared with ichor. He appears to have been dispatched to Final Death.

A smear of blood on the wall leads Twist further into the stronghold, where someone is bodily thrown into a nearby wall. The impact causes the wall to shake. Yet the stronghold is well maintained. It can handle this. Couldn't it? The figure on the ground gets up. He is around 6'5'' and muscular. He's White. The stranger spots Twist. A kukri is wielded by this unknown leather clad man as he approaches Twist. As he moves, she spots a sigil on a patch of the jacket he is wearing. It tickles something from her memory. Some occult symbol, likely used by Kindred.

Somewhere yet unseen, Twist can hear the sound of blows.

She couldn't help herself.

She smiled at the man as he approached.

It wasn't that she wasn't worried. She was. If her heart still beat, it would have been pounding like every cliche combined. Her House was here and while the dessicated figure was reassuring that they wouldn't get past Asa, that they wouldn't find Ish ... there was still the sounds of a fight coming from deeper in.

Knives suddenly glinted in her hands as she dropped into a ~~dancer's~~fighter's ready position. Dark eyes watched the man, waiting for the right moment to strike even as she poked at the feeling that she knew that sigil...

The unknown vampire moves foward with momentum, using it as he moves the knife in his hand. He flows with it, slicing a shallow wound to Twist's body. Twist knows that he is truly one of her kind now. The strength and fortitude suggest kindred. Yet there is something off. Those eyes show little calculation of self preservation. Yet there is no sign of having lost himself.

As Twist reacts to the strange one, something stirs in her mind. She has seen this symbol before. She knows that this symbol should not be boldly worn on a jacket while commuting where mortals might see. It has been associated with Belial's Brood.

And just like that everything shifted.

She had been warned. Had passed along the message of course. So she wasn't surprised. No one who had been told should be. But still ... everything shifted.

She felt his blade strike. It wasn't critical but it was enough that her own attack lacked the usual impact. She couldn't let that stand. Not with one of the Brood in a Millarr stronghold.

Spetsnaz Knife Fighting

Twist’s fighting partner hisses as he is wounded. There is moment as he seems to check his latest cut with his free hand. Instinctively, Vitae is burned. The antagonist moves around her. For a few beats, the Kindred evaluate and weave. The strange Kindred looks to still be waiting for his moment. This gives Twist the opportunity to strike.

This faction despise the established social order and do whatever they want, regardless of the Prince’s will. Their methods vary, yet their recklessness never wavers. Twist is getting a hint of this as she sees someone on a phone behind her current dance partner. This member is lithe, with ropey muscles shown as he is shirtless underneath the black leather jacket. He wears black leather pants. When Twist sees him, he is gesturing towards where the fallen Kindred is in the House entrance.

“What do you mean, cattle? Don’t care bout no cattle now, Cash. It wasn’t undefended like you said. Theres one-“ There is a pause as the man takes in Twist and his supposed ally. “- there’s two fighters. Three are gone.” The man is watching Twist as he falls quiet, listening.

There were times to play games with combat.

This was not one of them. If the idiota wanted to wait, that was his foolish call.

Especially as it sounded like these Brood intruders were being played like the pawns they were. Undefended? A House Millarr stronghold. She wanted to laugh. Instead she moved.
