Bird!,"

The mass of hobs fall silent as one then, the spokes bird speaks, suddenly and shockingly clear. Mockery alight in the shrill creaking voice "Reneging corpse, will be exchanged for dead animals equal to its weight!"

And all the hobs laugh again, as one.

sorry if this post is a little lack luster, I wanted to get something out!

Sonnie looked between the Blindbirds and the Elemental corpse, then shrugged. "If that was the deal he made, we should honor his wishes, right? I mean, I know leaving him to be eaten sounds gross, but that's life in the wilderness." The Beast, like many of her Seeming, had a sense of practicality about the darker side of nature. Now that she understood what was going on, she seemed fine with it.

However, it seemed a new deal was struck by Circe with the vultures. She blinked in surprise, then turned to the blue elf. "Wait, would Uber Eats even deliver a grown man's weight in lunch meats? Even I don't eat that much."

[Circe]

Circe does some math in her head. "30 pizzas? Bacon, chicken, hamburger, pepperoni, sausage. It'd be about, hmm. 30, 35 pounds in meat alone? Probably. Oh! Mad Butcher. Good for Summer BBQ. 70 lbs of various meats in a variety pack. 'bout $500. Seven fifty and they'd rush it."


Circe is proudly smiling at this before she scowls. Then shoots a glare at Liam, "It'd be so much cheaper ta just use lead, and I'm sure I'm the only one of us whose got four digits cash on me. You Springs owe me. Literally monetarily."

The Summer Mantle is back and isn't going away any time soon.


Circe retrieves and tosses her wallet at Sonja Wu. "$750 ta rush it, otherwise they'll take a few days. I don't fancy pulling an all-nighter in the Hedge with a bunch of hungry birds taunting us all night."

[Sonnie Wu]

She deftly caught the wallet with one hand, then sniffed it for some reason. Beasts.

Sonnie looked around, at Circe and Liam, at the vultures, at the corpse. Her eyes went back to the wallet, then she shrugged and started towards the way they came in. The public restroom awaited.

"I gave you free parkour lessons. We're even steven!" she said with a smirk as she passed Circe. "But if you want compensation, the Tavern could give you free drinks for a year or something. Just don't look at me for money. I got a dog of godly beauty to support." The Steepscrambler was content to let the Blindbirds have the dead body, anyway.

[Liam Gelt]

Against all odds...against all hope...they'd avoided a fight. Liam, still cradling the lifeless body of the Metalflesh, breaths a sigh of relief that ruffles the hair of Circe and Sonnie and briefly stirs the hairs of his once-living cargo. Thank goodness, we did it. Or rather, Circe had done it. And apparently at great cost to herself. Though her cost wasn't quite as grotesque as the one Liam had been prepared to make. ​"Soooounds goood. Flesh for fleeeeeesh. Thaaaaaank yooooooou for your genoroooooosity." ​He nods to the birds, offering respect in exchange for their gesture of non-aggression.

The Summer Queen's glare is met with a wry smile from the treant. Perhaps even an eager one. "Iiiiiiiii'd be happy to giiiiiive you a target sometime. Juuuuuust noooooot with guuuuuuns. Wooooorm's been teaching meee to fighhhht." If the Summer wanted a chance to throw down with something or someone, then Liam wouldn't lose the opportunity to learn from her rage. "Ooooor freee drinks. Thaaaaaat wooooorks toooo." ​The Ogre looks more relieved than disappointed. The important thing was that nobody else got hurt and one of their own would get a proper burial. He keeps his eyes on the birds while Sonnie goes to fetch the meat. And he stands like he's stood before; steady and unmoving as he waits for the debt to be paid and for the group's departure. "Ooooooonce theeeeey're appeeeeeased we'll neeeeed to buuuuury this ooooone. Do weeee have a plaaaace for thaaaat?" Liam hasn't considered the possibility of burying one of his friends. But maybe the Lost of Sacramento have a special place to bury their dead. If not...perhaps the Autumn Court would know.

Exchanged! Exchanged!" comes the cawing cacophony.

pledge, flesh for flesh the Blindbirds spend 1WP to seal the pledge.

Task -1 Endeavor. Bring the Blindbirds animal meat equal to Carlos' weight.
Boon +1 Favour. The Lost will be able to take Carlos' corpse and put him to rest.
Sanction -1 Curse. Negates the 10-again rule for the oathbreaker for the duration of the sanction.
Duration +1 Day. The Lost will have 24 hours to complete this Pledge.

The Lost have a choice, you can choose mortal butchers or lunch meat and it'll count against your Resources for this month. OR you can choose to go to Ambrosial Delights and to the Changeling butcher there.

The first option will wrap this scene and plot up neatly with some narration. The second will have me open a new scene where the Lost will have to race against time to get to the bitchers and make that bargen and if they cannot the Blindbirds will feast.

[Circe]

OOC Circe has a plan to order and acquire 63 lbs of meat for a purchase within her resources range. Additional canned meats are also in her Resources merit budget so I'm fine with trying that instead of going off to get stuff to go barter stuff for bartered meat. Circe has made her suggestion that removes at least half the guy's weight, so her ego would say it's the best idea. I am in favor of the mortal made meats IC and OOC.

Sonnie made her way out to the mortal realm, and barring any unexpected hiccups, she would go to place Circe's order for 63 lbs. of lunch meat. It was a weird experience, especially since she was trying to have said meat delivered to... a public restroom in a park?

At least she wasn't paying for it.

[Liam Gelt]

The birds caw out their agreement, and Liam holds the Metalflesh's body close to him. Funny how the Hedge surprised; somehow these Hobs, in their own roundabout way, showed mercy. And a Lost would be properly buried without being ripped to shreds by predators. Of all the fantastical terrors of this technicolor hellscape, there would be a somewhat happy ending.

He could live with that.

As Sonnie takes off in a furry blur, Liam looks over to Circe. "Should weeeeee be worrieeeeeeed aboooout allergieeeeeees?"
A bit of gallows humor, and he's sure Circe knows just as well as he does that these birds were opportunists and scavengers. And he hopes a little deprecation will cool the Summer Queen's temper until they can get in front of a firing range or into some boxing gloves.

"Oh, cazzo diavolo no. They explode from eating the meat, awesome!" She replies curtly to Liam. "Still have preferred to give 'em lead. Would'a been cheaper. More Summer."

Sonja was fast, at least there was that. If they had to get more meat, "How much shiny weigh do ya think?"
