Okay, it appears that DeepSeas will not continue this scene. Do you want me to try and get this scene to a conclusion?
Okay, I've come up with something so this doesn't have to be simply dropped.
Eulogy is taken off his feet by the rush of wind and debris, barely missing the hard edge of some construction equipment. It wasn't exactly clear what he had gotten himself into, but if things continued like this he'd better prepare for trouble.
The other Awakened managed to stay on their feet due to physical prowess and training.. or some amount of luck. Phoenyx and Winter notice that the tree remained untouched by the calamity, like an eye of the storm. They also noticed that - not overtly hostile for now or not - the Spirit was a huge veil breach just waiting to happen.
Puck , shaping up to be the city's unofficial Spirit-whisperer, reached across the Abyss and borrowed the ability to converse with Spirits. The Ape regarded him with his smooth face, displaying recognition despite lacking features. Then the noise began again: screams of machinery, the rush of traffic but with that rush also came the rush of Magic like whistle-tones above the rest. <<It is Overabundance.>> Cars honking, breaks screeching, something that almost sounded like High Speech. <<It is Consumption. It is Natural Flow.>>
Whatever it is, it seemed to be almost of two minds - and it seemed distressed, cornered.
Powerful enough to become an issue. The Guardian decides to study the creature, weighing whether it's necessary to act.

A lot wasn't adding up here. Still, it seemed they were dealing with a nature spirit. The way it seemed to be bothered by the noises left him with the impression it was being imposed on. All that scaffolding? Someone's trying to develop or gentrify the area, and the spirit doesn't like it. Why does Puck think he's hearing High Speech though?
"Can someone silence the city noises? It's upsetting him."
Nobody is named, but he's looking at Winter.
<<I'm Puck.>> Attempt number two. <<What is consumption? How can we help?>>
His hands still up in surrender, he takes a few slow steps closer to the spirit.
Eulogy took Pheonyx's offered hand and bounded to his feet. He wasn't spry so there was an obvious lack of grace as he stood. The moros glanced around taking a que from the others. He reached into his inner jacket pocket and withdrew his bone wand. Mentally preparing himself for the possibility of combat, he waited.

Upsetting him? Only years of keeping her thoughts to herself stopped the thought blurting out.
Puck's weird language, now almost familiar to the Obrimos, rankled just a little. Spirits. It always seemed to be damned spirits lately, and that was becoming increasingly frustrating. It looked like learning that Arcana was becoming more and more a necessity. Still, it was a valid suggestion.
Drawing the knife that was her magical tool from her belt, she began to chant, very slowly. the Trick would be creating a sphere large enough. And having the knife in her had felt firm and reassuring.

The sigil formed a bubble centered on the tree, the sound outside it dropping as if closed off. The Arrow looked to Puck. "It's done. What is it saying?"
Phoenix beats him, even though he's still unsure of whether it's a wise choice. If the creature could detect their spells, it could be alarmed.
He remains idle.

Phoenyx' Imago became reality and soon they found themselves in an almost silent bubble. If she had to find a silver lining it probably would be the fact that this Spirit at least appeared in the material world, which meant it probably could be dealt with in ways she understood.
Which was pretty crummy, as far as silver linings went.
When the Spirit answered Puck again, the Acanthus realized that all those traffic noises came from the Ape. Which meant he misread the situation, but at least the chance of drawing in curious Sleepers was reduced. <<They take the Flow and change it. They create their sites and don't think about the balance.>> Was it talking about this construction site? And what about those overtones that contrasted with the other noise?
As Puck stepped closer the Spirit seemed to tense up, it's voice now the thundering of a jackhammer. <<They want and take and grow and change. It answers: It wants.>> A high whirring. <<It takes.>> The rumbling of a motor.
For the onlookers the situation seemed tense - between the alien sounds exchanged between Spirit and Enchanter and the Ape's body language it was hard to tell whether the situation was about to escalate or not. But how had the Spirit materialized here and what had Mobius call them here for?
