(2110) Consilium

[Eulogy]

Eulogy shook his head at the lack of decorum. "So no old business." He wrote something on the clip board as the other mages spoke. He generally followed the conversation but didn't add anything. When Crystal spoke Eulogy gave him a warm smile. "Congratulations."

[Corn]

Corn nods when Winter mentions interrogations. "I think that the guardian of our consilium interrogating the troublemakers is sensible. I doubt it would be much different if one of us was caught messing things up in San Francisco."

He wasn't surprised when Crystal mentioned his aspirations to become councilor. But he was still glad for him. "Congratulations councilor!" he said with a nod of the head. The Mysterium held two councilors by his count. That gave them an edge.

[Winter]

He nods, there's a couple of things he wants to ask, and depending from the answers, it may advance his investigations.
Or perhaps the events are unrelated.
"Congratulations, Councillor", he offers the newly appointed Mastigos. Other than that, it was mostly going to be a flat meeting.

[Guru]

Crystal had set the trend with his announcement but he still couldn't help but feel that fire burn in his stomach. For once he'd wished he'd brought tums, should have eaten one of the croissants to calm his stomach. Too late for that now. There was more discussion about the possible questioning of their quests, happy for Phoenyx to point out that not everything had to be nefarious. He took a deep, steadying breath before standing up himself. Band-aid, right?


"I'd also like to announce that the Thyrsus have chosen me to be their representative on the Council." It was short, to the point, lacking the panache and style Crystal's offered. He was too busy bracing for the impact, reminding himself why he was doing this. Remember Aurora did this for awhile. Your turn to bear the burden man. He tried to exhale the worry but it didn't do much good, if any. You have the Mysterium party later, there is relief in sight.

[Belle]

Belle returns Crystal's nod with a smile of her own, sincerely proud to be a part of his recognition. She would support her fellow Mystagogue/Mastigos any way she could. She beams even further as she sees more and more, Councilors or not, offering their own support towards Crystal.

The San Francisco Magi seemed to be a hot topic for the evening: though she was genuinely surprised to see such a split in the Mysterium ranks over opinions on the outsiders. "I understand I'm new here, but I think we should be careful with how we treat these new Magi. They'll leave eventually, and their perceptions of us could color how other Magi abroad think of us." She nods to Phoenyx. "As long as these newcomers haven't endangered the Lex, they're still entitled to hospitality." She looks to Crystal to gauge his reaction. She'd hate to be at odds with her Councilor, but right now it seemed like Phoenyx had the matter well in hand. They didn't need to overly complicate things by coloring these new Magi as invaders.

Guru's announcement is a much more pleasant surprise, and Belle offers Guru an encouraging smile. She was a bit surprised to see him taking the position over Aurura, who seemed to have more experience. But maybe that just wasn't what she wanted. Good for her; not like she needs a position of power to define herself. There's a brief look of support to Aurora, who Belle was beginning to genuinely respect if only for her fiery spirit.

[Crystal]

So at least nobody jumped up and screamed murder. In fact, the response to his new position seemed pretty positive all in all. Crystal thanked every congratulating Mage with a bright smile as he went back to his place. There were some more boxes to check before the day was over, but he was confident that they'd get through this.

Belle's look was met with a small nod and a slight smile. Having found himself the target of a witch-hunt himself he wasn't the type to interrogate or threaten just like that - but without having a more complete picture he didn't want to decide either way. Although she was probably putting more stock into how San Francisco thought of them than necessary..

And then Guru followed through. Yes! He arched an eyebrow and smirked at the Shaman as he just flat-out stated his new position. No fanfares, no big speeches - but he did it. He refrained from shouting out his agreement (especially since Guru has made it abundantly clear that he wasn't exactly aching for this position), he just kept that approving look and nodded once if he got Guru's attention. And he added some relaxing party-favours on his shopping list for the Mysterium party.

So, all that was left on their small agenda was Eulogy announcing their Cabal. Go finish 'em, tiger!

[Phoenyx]

The Arrow nods at Kaze's request. "I am sure that can be arranged."

She offers Guru a small smile. Against all her expectation, that made a full council. She supposed she would have to gather them together, if not of them decided to. She would wait. Make a test of it.

There was a small amount of surprise at how many wanted to submit them to enforced questioning. She had hoped this would be a smooth relay of information, but it seemed not. "There appears to be matters of great contention between the Orders in the Golden Bay Concillium that caused our guests to leave out of fear for their safety." She did not want to point the finger squarely at the Guardians, not without more proof. "They have broken no laws and, I believe, meant no disrespect. Their ritual simply did not work as they expected, and we saved them. I would ask that anyone who is able to find information out from their Orders about the situation in San Fransisco could do so and relay it to our own concillium, should any dangers there spill out towards us. We have encountered magi from that Concilium in our city before. Their troubles could become ours."

She looks to Belle, thankful someone else was at least on her side. They really should get that drink.

[Puck]

Belle took the words out of Puck's mouth.

Aurora's skepticism was almost befuddling to the Enchanter. Three refugees from the pentacle constituted enough to form a cabal and offering hospitality that could have been demanded seemed fairly minimal to the Enchanter. It was good to know though. After so many people heralded her judgment and wisdom, only a few people spoke when she showed a total lack of empathy towards mages in need. This is why Libertines ground themselves in sleeper communities instead of awakened ones.

"So full council?" Thumbs up from this guy, still all smiles. "Neat. We should meet later when we actually have business to attend to."

Fingers crossed that never happens. Credit where it's due though? Guru didn't seem to think he needed the council's permission to assume the role, and it sounded like he talked to Aurora ahead of time.

"So it sounds like the San Fran thing is done being discussed? We can move on? It's ongoing anyway."

I hate ooc banners ic but... I really think we need to drop the active plot thread from the conversation. It's ongoing so we have no idea what we're talking about yet and we don't add anything by bringing it up now with limits and caveats to not ask about it because it's ongoing. We can address it both more organically and with full information by waiting patiently for the plot's conclusion.

[Aurora]

Congrats were offered all around. Which was odd, but, eh, whatever.

There was then an encouraging smile to Guru, he had this. And would do better than he thought he would. She had faith in him with taking over as Councilor.

Nothing more was said about the visiting mages. Seems she was out voiced here on them, and she’d let it be at that. It wasn’t worth the effort to argue about, let the cards fall where they would.

To Phoenyx, “Well, the Golden Bay isn’t exactly known for being warm and fuzzy. Not many are willing to call them allies.” She’d heard enough from others over the years about that place. “I don’t have a whole lot of pull in San Fran, but I can reach out and see what I can gather.” She offers.

Sounded like Puck was eager for a full council. But the others were aware of the bullshit coming their way, but still, she wished them luck. She trust four of the five to handle things like adults, and was content to lean back in her seat and observe the rest of the meeting.

[Kaze]

Kaze grins in anticipation.


Then a ring tone sounds, The Sorcerer's Apprentice.


"Oh...wow. Really Dad?" Kaze says, looking at a text message, sounding kind or excited and bummed at the same time.

"Sorry, really sorry. I have to jet. Like literally. I'll call you later and fill you in." Kaze says quietly to Crystal as he make his way out as respectfully as possible.
