Eternal Court

The Nox Populi is an upscale experience that will take Sacramento nightlife to a whole new level.

In the heart of downtown Sacramento there is a place of intrigue, excitement and entertainment. The modern flare of this venue is host to exclusive parties. The seduction of this establishment may take you away as you drink, dance and socialize. There are private services available upon request. The best DJ’s in town are in line to play a wide variety of music. Some of you may dine…as long as you have your VIP pass.

However the Kindred arrive they are discreetly met and led to the back of the club. The space downstairs is decorated in dark, rich woods and expensive furniture. There's a coat room that will also hold one's 'unmentionables'; namely, weapons, at the foot of the stairs. There are also private areas, dark, and furnished with soft couches, as well as meeting rooms with conference tables and chairs, and an area with several televisions. The Court area is decorated with long black and brown silken drapes cascading from floor to ceiling. Draped in elegant bunches and gathered into valances across door frames and between supporting pillars; the lighting is intentionally low, but without the pulse of the music from above, the place has the feel of a sepulchre.

The common area circles the Court proper, and it becomes apparent that this is not decorated for a single evening. Small symbols note areas for Kindred only that branch off of the Commons, which will be necessary once those Kine privileged enough to see behind the Masquerade filter in: ghouls, herd members, or even devotees. The furniture setting is familiar now: a set of elegant chairs, all dark wood and red leather, arranged in a circle. The baroque lighting leaves the corners of the Elysium commons in deep shadow.

With the permanent fixture that the chess table had become, there was yet another new item. A Steinway concert piano, its cover in an upright position, revealing stunning inner strings strings. The lid was closed on the keyboard, the bench not with it.

Another evening; another Danse. For some it will their first, for some it shall be their last. After all, this is the Prince's Elysium, and subject to the Laws of the Domain.

Eternal Court is open once more...

Eternal Court is not a singular event. Always open and in constant motion, a compression of the comings and goings of Kindred within Elysium throughout the nights. As such, Eternal Court is also never truly empty; this can include 'faceless masses' of Kindred beneath notice, ghouls, herd members, devotees, or even officials in their offices.

Edward descended into Court and wondered idly what he might get up to. Hopefully no drama, but he really did attract it, didn't he? If Edward still drew breath, he would have sighed.

Maybe he'd belatedly answer JC's question of two months past. Not that there was much answer to give. Not being tied down also meant being unmoored. While considering, he brushed imaginary dust off his freshly dry clean suit, eyeing the red paisley pocket square, folded into the rose, a coil of barbed wire surrounding it.

He took a seat by the chess table that gave a view of the stairs, and slowly played out a memorized game played between two elders long ago.

As Conner stops at the coat check he pauses just a moment before heading crossing into Elysium proper. He'd debated on whether or not to attend informal Court; why not just spend the night browsing Sacramento's nightlife? Or stay in and focus on his Mass preparations? Hell, he could've reached out to...well, he didn't have that many friends in Sacramento just yet.

And that was part of why he was there; but there was also that rumbling Bestial desire for dominion, for control. This was the first Court where he was there because he chose to be there, not because he was required. This is a part of my world now. Might as well own it.

The sparseness of the room doesn't sooth Conner as much as it maybe should have. It reminded him too much of the wilderness of the Barrens; of the hunger and the longing for someone to talk to...

And then he sees Edward at the chess table, and there's the all-to-familiar vomit-like surge of Bestial instinct. Ignore him, he's just looking for an easy target to sooth his ego after the Nosferatu verbally thrashed him! But Conner suppresses the predatory caution by soothing another aspect of his inner demons: their desire for power. He was alone, and had no Covenant to support him through his current crisis. And the Lancea were especially interested in the lost and alone.

He walks up to the chess table and gives Edward a respectful nod "Good evening, Mr. Heinrich. Are you waiting for another player?" He briefly glances at the empty seat across from the Daeva, giving him some options for their interaction.

Edward rose at Connor's approach. "Good evening, Mr. ?" Edward extended a hand to shake as he prompted for a name. "I am indeed, so please, if you have interest, do take a seat."

Edward began dismantling the game, returning each piece to its starting place, before finally taking the last white and black pawn in his hands. He switched them several times behind his back and then offered two closed fists.
"Left or right, Mr. Wells?"

"Wells, Clan Mekhet, of the Lancea Sanctum." He lists the titles not because he thinks the Daeva doesn't know them, but to help clarify their conversation going forward. He certainly didn't want to offend Mr. Heinrich by flaunting Covenant ties. Though, ultimately, it was his own fault if he took offense at it.

His eyebrow goes up slightly as Edward performs his trick of concealing the pawns. He could've just blown the Shadow off and continued with his solo game, but he wanted a conversation partner. Very well then, let the games begin...

Connor left Edward's hand to hang, and so he dropped it. Edward wasn't offended, he was not hiding his Beast, and physical contact could be unpleasant. Instead, he simply returned to his seat.

"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Wells."

[Dirt Nap]

Dirt Nap enters and looks around. He moves over to a corner, where he can be approached if someone chooses too, and where he can watch and memorize the game of chess in progress as well as anything said. It's always interesting if someone shows you any little bit of how they think, especially about attack and defense.

He is wearing a clean, ironed calico work shirt with an ironed collar and clean, denim dungarees and cleaned and shined leather work boots that look to be the type with steel toe protectors set in them.

[Wei Lin]

Following the directions provided by their Priscus, Wei Lin found the way to the fashionable Nox and the local Elysium. They smiled, the anticipation and a little nervousness coursing through them at the prospect of meeting their new peers.

Before entering the Court proper, they stopped by the mirror adjusting their dress to sit just right, and to make sure the hairpin in the simple bun hadn't moved. First impressions are important, after all. And all the more, the secrets surely brewing just under the surface, as it was the way of any community, making Wei Lin's fingers tingle with the desire to collect them all.

Finally, confident in their look, they enter, curious eyes surveying the room and settling on the exact person they wanted to meet. At least, they thought it was him... Descriptions could be quite subjective, but there was only one way to know for certain. Adopting a charming smile, Wei Lin strided towards Dirt Nap, the heels clicking over the floor and adding a solid 5 inches to their height, stopping at a respectful distance of an arm's reach.

"Pardon my intrusion, sir. Are you, perhaps, Mister Dirt Nap?" they asked, pleased to discover a man Masked, their Beast as calm as they can be in a presence of a stranger.

Dirt Nap is still for a long, awkward moment after being addressed by the exotic beauty, whether stunned by her magnetic presence or for some other reason is unclear.

He looks away from the game of chess and stares at the woman for another moment with an expression perhaps of hunger and admiration and then he nods in a gesture or respect and says, "Yes, Ma'am. That would be me."

After another moment he says, "If you don't mind my asking, what gave me away?"

Wei Lin smile turned to a happy shining one on being proved right. She bowed lightly, showing respect, her eyes never leaving the man, though, studying him carefully.

"Please, just call me Wei Lin. Priscus Twist described you quite aptly. I meant to call, but it seems the fate has gotten ahead of me and my desire to meet you, which I am rather pleased with."

The gears in her head were already working, at such a lucky meeting speeding up Wei Lin's plans rather nicely.
