Puck's eyes narrow and lips purse as he feels the attempt to manipulate him. He rather consciously avoids looking at the others and focuses his attention on the tree that seemed to hold the stage together. No glyphs was good, it meant whoever had the sense to cloak his manipulation. Still, the fact the hook tried to snare four awakened wouldn't end well for whoever was fishing.

At least the public appeal made sense now, thought the nature of the threads he had viewed made him think a very specific problem was arising. One he had to destroy.

White noise was common in Guru’s life, the pulse of sound stuck out for a few beats before it was filtered into the background with everything else. He felt that cold trickle of fear run down his spine as his heart began to beat more quickly. He looked at the tree before leaning back and continuing to face forward as his eyes peeled across the room looking for the source of that magic. He didn’t see any obvious signatures or flares just yet, he’d have to dig deeper push through his own frustration to see a result. He let out a deep breath as his initial distraction had pulled him away from it, his attention wavering for a brief second before he managed to make any sort of connection.

Kaze is alerted to something...not being right. Something just tried to...mess with his head. Magically. He's sure of it, though he can't say exactly why. Nonetheless, he's taking this intuition seriously. Not just because he knows that he's better at unconsciously noticing little details that are off and putting them together into spontaneous conclusions, but just because...it feels right.

    2 successes

He stands up. Just because the thing trying to mess with him is being subtle, doesn't mean he is better off playing by the same rules. Besides, what's the worst that can happen, the people behind him complain? The ushers show up to usher him out? Doesn't seem like that's going to happen....

He looks around to spot anyone else--especially Phoenyx, Guru or Puck who seems to also have their mind under their own control and whether anyone else is up and moving or anything else not seeming right on a purely mundane level in the environment?

With the help of her Supernal Vision Phoenyx was able to notice any Magic on stage - or for the most part, the lack of it. The air was heavy with emotion: sadness and hope and relief and whatever else the Sleepers in the room were feeling were colouring the air and the tendrils coming off the tree were moving more frantically now, caressing and engulfing anything they could reach. It felt like they grew more solid as time went on. It was not a spell, however - not in the way she was familiar with. Some vines reached out into the audience, slithering over shed tears, into open mouths and touching clamped hands.
The only trace of Awakened Magic on stage was on Romeo, the hot topic model. Blue strands laid around his torso, masterfully woven and barely noticeable like a suit of armor.

Puck also saw the tendrils' reaction to the audience. His Sybils Sight didn't get the emotions or the traces of Fate on the actor, but rather the extend of connection between what was happening and the people present. The audience was like a spark for the tree, a means to an end, their destinies barely tied to it in a substinantial way. The actors' connection to this something stood in stark contrast: before the Acanthus eyes it grew ever so slightly more solid, the tendrils tightening even more around the people.

The Shaman kept his attention on the tree, with little more success than before. Guru could at least tell that the piece of metal and scrap wasn't the source of vitalitynonvitality itself. The energies and resonance were focused on it, but it seemed more like an antenna or amplifier. The actual source of the tendrils was- no, with what was going on around him he couldn't clearly tell, but it had to be nearby.

Kaze , alerted by what was happening to him stood up and surveyed the area. With how far behind he was sitting he didn't really cause any fuss - most people were attentively following the play and the actors were also pretty into the zone. Romeo, one of the actors, couldn't help but look at the sudden movement. His eyes searched the dark for a moment before he turned his attention to his colleagues again, but that was everything. Without an active Mage Sight he is unaware of what exactly was happening around him, but he clearly noticed the result: most people are strongly reacting to what they were presented, silently crying or outright sobbing. Somehow the message resonated with them, and seeing this Kaze could imagine how the buzz about this evening came to be. A few people, the other Awakened among them, were unimpressed and reacted in confusion or concern for their friends. Of course with how dark the audience was, it was hard for the Obrimos to make out anything more detailed or noticeable.

With most combinations of dialogues between the actors done, the play seemed to get into its final stretch: Malcolm, by now accompanied by deep, steady drones and nothing else gave a final monologue. A passionate speech about how they've changed, how they've grown and learned to accept each other. About how people being different didn't mean that we should be afraid of them, about how in the end nothing even mattered and that it was really okay to just end it all and be done with the complications and the suffering.
Despite the turn in content his tone stayed positive, persuasive, charming. The others sitting in the back listened and smiled along, as if they weren't really listening to what was being said.

"In the end, we are all the same. We shouldn't care about our backgrounds, heritage or sexual orientation. In fact, why care about anything at all? Why hold onto life if there's nothing worth living for?"

And with that, the drones swelled up until they became almost too loud to bear, then they suddenly stopped and the stage turned black.
After a moment the audience erupted into roaring applause, speckled with yells and sobs of people who were still progressing the last hour. The light turned on again and the actors gathered in a line again, ready to take each others hands and bow. Becky only barely managed to tear her hands from her cardigan to shakily accept the hand of her colleague and after one round of bows something seemed to get to Rosa, the Latina. Her professional composure broke and she burst out in tears herself. She tore herself free and hastily through a door presumably leading to the backstage area and dressing rooms. A flicker of annoyance hushed over Malcolms face but it disappeared as quickly as it came.
Although the applause wasn't close to die off anytime soon, after a few rounds of bows the actors waved the audience good bye and also left through the door. The lights got turned on and the tomboy opened up the doors again. She didn't seem to be impressed by the resonance at all and simply left to the front of the house, probably to man the concession stand again.
It took a while, but soon the clapping stopped little by little and people started to leave the auditorium. Soon there were barely any people left inside the room - almost as if people had no particular interest in staying any longer. The Awakened were left behind with the empty stage, a closed door leading backstage and the phantom sensation of a finger running down their spine.

The Arrow leans into Kaze as the applause rises. "Does something about this feel strange to you?" she asks quietly.

The bursting to tears has her confused. "It wasn't that emotional," she mutters to herself.

The show concluded, she moves with the audience back out to the entrance. She keeps an eye out for any clues that might tie to the weird feeling, also looking for Romeo for a chance to scrutinise the spell.

Tonight the three mages of Sacramento got to see what might be a once in a lifetime show. Not the garbage on the stage mind you, but Puck. As the show drew to a close and took it's sharp turn from mediocre liberalism to blatant nihilism, Puck's reaction would be the real show for the mages. The final words of the show didn't make him angry. No. For once, Puck was simply upset. The oscillation between challenging difference and celebrating it was one of the things that kept the crucible of the Assembly alive and dynamic. For most of the show, the sleepers had clumsily grasped at it's ideals as closely as the Quiescence would allow. But then it took it's turn, and as the tendrils of whatever had reached out took control, the audience rose from their seats to celebrate it. Not the differences and identities that Puck and the free council would celebrate, but the utter futility of meaning.

For his part, Puck remained seated. He wouldn't dignify this Lie with any form of approval. The look Malcolm gave Rose seemed to highlight the threads he had seen before, even if he had stopped concentrating. Rather then waste time mingling with the audience he makes his way over to the others.

"We need to talk to Malcolm and Rosa. Separately. Maybe break that fucking tree."

The Enchanter seems a bit deflated as he spoke, almost tired.

Yeah. Breaking shit helped when people were bothered right? Puck definitely needed something to spark a little rage at the moment.

Guru examined the tree and kept looking it over, an itch at the back of his mind. Inspiration, his eyes moving up to the branches the droning sound crashing against him almost oppressively. Then he began to nod his head, his heart racing. It appeared to be basic hypnotism amplified but what was the source? He took a look around the room quickly for stacks of speakers.

If the Droning was oppressive, Malcom's words cut through it like a knife. Guru felt his heart beat in his chest, feel the rage build in his stomach again. He had to swallow bile and take a deep breath, and collect himself. The best he could do was keep it there tied in a knot, like a rubber band stretched too tightly. When the applause came, Guru stood with everyone else but clapped slowly along. He looked at Malcom, the normal cheer gone from the hippies face replaced with contempt.

Guru didn't have much of a poker face, his hand clutching much too tightly on the seat in front of him as Puck came over. "Yea, what was that nihlistic bullshit at the end? My fucking ass." He let go of his grip and rang his hands together, trying to push the tension out of him. "Amp, haven't found the input yet. " Guru's primary concern had been finding the source but Puck seemed to have an idea, he raised an eyebrow. "Better than my idea."

"Definitely." Kaze says, agreeing with Phoenyx. "Something definitely tried to mess with my head. It was just a feeling but I am totally sure."

He listens to what Puck and Guru have to say about it also.

He nods. "That Romeo guy...he was the only one up there that seemed, I don't know, alert. In control." He says. "Something's going on here."

It didn't take long for Phoenyx to realize she was the only mage that had left with the others. Didn't people leave auditoriums when the play was finished?

She moved over to a side, watching the people as them left. For such an emotional reaction, people had left somewhat abruptly. Were they milling or continuing vaguely to the exit?

The feeling like a finger along her spine was uncomfortable and making her irritable. The effect had tried and naturally failed, to take effect on her mind. But if there was a connection between things... maybe that could be followed. At least it could tell her if she had made a mistake in coming outside.

As a rule, the Arrow tried calling on Fate. She had learned early that leaning on it heavily often caused it to snap back at inopportune times. But this needed a more subtle approach. Reaching for her will, she silently forced the spell into existance.
