Catching up over dinner!

She’d reached out to Sonnie just wanting to hangout. It had been far too long since she got to hangout with her favorite monkey. Should she be wedding planning? Probably. Did she need a break? Oh yes!

Deciding they would need food; she got the grill going. Who cared if it was February?! It was always a good time for burgers and steaks! In case Sonnie brought Fugly, Sera made sure there was enough for him too, and enough for Sonnie to take home to him if he wasn’t with her.

The Nix was casual in jean cutoffs and a tank top, over which she had a long sweater. Was she cold? No! She had been running around the kitchen and grill getting things ready, she didn’t have time to be cold. There was music playing from a built-in stereo in the kitchen, and she was dancing as she was getting things done. Having told Sonnie the front door was open, she focused on what she was doing.

But one thing that was new? Her legs. Or, well, lack thereof. Sure, she obviously had legs, but they matched her hands, they were translucent now.

Did Sera even need to ask? Sonnie was always up for hanging out with her best bud! And sure, it was February, but it was February in California.

So, the Beast arrived at the Emerald Queen's fairy castle house, dressed in old blue jeans and a green pullover hoodie. The hedgespun boots were stowed away in her bag. She was barefooting it today! Monkey toes on display!

Of course, she brought the noble knight, Sir Fugly of Sacramento! The goodest boy was always happy to see his Auntie Sera!

Knock knock!

Thankfully, she heard the door, a remote picked up and the radio turned down.

Bouncing to the door, she flings it open with a big grin, “Hey you!” the smell of grill smoke and various meat coming from the kitchen and open back door.

Sapphires widen, as she kneels down, “And hello to you Sir Fugly!” she coos, making sure to give him lots of love.

Standing, “Come in! I’ve been attempting to grill, and I think I might have mastered it. Well, mastered it enough that the meat is edible!” laughing as she moves into the kitchen. Which had various packages open, some had burnt meat in them, whatever they started out as, was anyone’s guess. But there was some steaks and burgers that were not burnt, plus some sides, chips, candy.

“How’ve you been? It feels like forever since we last talked!”

Sonnie took in the delicious smells coming from Sera's house with a bit sniff. "Ah, I feel at home already!" she giggled. "Hey you, back!"

Fugly was let off his leash, and the pooch jumped to greet the Fairest.

"Attempting to grill, huh? BBQ newbie?" The Beast smirked. "I guess it has been a while since we just hung out. Good thing we're correcting that, right?"

“As you should! You even have your own cereal here!” she says with a laugh.

Fugly gets a hug, and scratches, because he was the best boy.

Laughing, “You could say that. I thought it couldn’t be too hard, turn the grill on and put the steaks on. But, yah, you actually need to watch them and I, well, didn’t.” laughing, “But it was a good learning experience, and thankfully an experience done outside. Cause something tells me the fire department would have been here.” Shrugging with a laugh.

“I was able to get some grilled though, plus some burgers in case you didn’t like steak.” Cause always better to have too much food. Getting a chip from an open bag, “So what’s been going on?” she asks, popping the chip in her mouth. “I also need to tell you about the adorable rabbit hobs Circe and I came a cross in the Hedge!”

"I watch a lot of those cooking shows, including the barbeque competition ones. I kinda always wanted to try it... but my apartment building discourages grills indoors. Fire codes, or something." She shrugged, then remembered something.

The Beast dug in her bag and pulled out a store-bought plastic container, which she presented to Seraphina with a theatrical flourish. "Deviled egg salad! I thought it sounded good, and I wanted to bring something! Ta-da!"

After getting loved on by the Nix, Fugly decided to go exploring the house. His exploration consisted of wandering around aimlessly and sniffing at everything.

"Anyway," she said, watching her dog a moment before her eyes were inevitably drawn back to the glorious sight of the Fairest, "I like steak just fine! So no worries!"

Sonnie blinked, confused for a moment, "Rabbit hobs? Seriously?"

“I didn’t know you watched those shows!” she exclaims, “But if you really want to try, I have some left-over steaks and chicken in the fridge. You are welcome to attempt to master the grill!” she offers, wondering if Sonnie would be any more successful then she was. “And don’t worry if things on it catch on fire, closing the lids seems to help.” A sheepish, if somewhat embarrassed smile.

“Oh!” eying the container, “It does sound good!” and she quickly digs out some plates and silverware, “You find the most amazing side dishes!” very eager to try it.

Sera was unconcerned by Fugly exploring the house. There was nothing that he could get into that would hurt him, and if he had an accident, she didn’t care. It was easy enough to clean.

“Great! I cut into them, to make sure they were done, not knowing how you liked yours cooked. So there are a few that are on the more rare side, and some in the middle.” Kinda the best of both worlds?

Sapphires widen, “Yeah! So, Circe and I decided to go into the Hedge and try and find that Spider Market for some trades. And she decided we needed a truck, which, does not do so well in the Hedge by the way. But we might have accidentally ran one of them over, who got stuck in the engine. Thankfully, we were able to calm it enough to get it out and fixed up. I bandaged him while Circe found some healing fruit. Poor little guy, but he’s fine now! Its mother was so sweet too! Was so tempted to bring them home.” A slight pout, “But wasn’t sure how well they’d do in a house, and taking them from their naturally environment seemed wrong.” But they were so cute!

Hoping up to sit on the counter, being tall had its benefits, she picks up another chip, “So what is new in the world of Sonnie?”

"The Food Channel is quite soothing. It's good to have on in the background while I do stuff around the house." Not that she ever turned her television off, but at least she was playing stuff she liked. "It does have the side effect of making me hungry, though."

What didn't?

Bringing the deviled egg salad into the kitchen where Sera was producing plates and cutlery, Sonnie smiled. "Coincidentally, it goes great with BBQ! Hooray for happy accidents!" Yes, she actually said it as Bee-Bee-Que.

Fugly was housebroken, of course, so there was little to be concerned about with him, anyway.

"Oh, I tried to find the Spider Market, too! Didn't... um, didn't find it. Just some weird Hobs... one of which had a weird fetish for my legs." She shuddered a little.

“It is?” she sounded like she didn’t believe it. “Guess I’ve never watched it. Maybe I’ll have to take a look sometime.” Then she laughs, “I can see that. And if you didn’t get hungry after watching a channel dedicated to food, I’d be a bit worried.” Cause, seriously.

“There isn’t much that doesn’t go good with BBQ. At least, I don’t think there isn’t anything.” A thoughtful look, “Hmmm.” Shrugging.

“Wait, a fetish for your legs?!” looking over Sonnies legs, “I mean, they are very nice legs, look really toned. So one on hand I can see it.” Sure, everyone had something that did it for them. “Were you look for stuff trade? Cause I know Circe and I were both looking to trade. I believe she wanted spider silk and I wanted some ingredients for a new Hedgespun I’m working on.” So neither found it. “Wonder if it moves to different locations for the Seasons or something?” she wonders out loud.

“But Circe did get me dagger!” and she jumps off the counter to rush over to her purse and she pulls out the golden dagger. Showing and offering to the Beast, “I’m not like, really good with it yet, but I’ve been taking classes.” She seemed proud of that. "So I won't accidentally kill myself with it, but I don't think I'll really hurt anything yet."

"It's a great place to find recipes! I may be a master chef already, but there's always room to learn," Sonnie winked and laughed. She then had to nod in agreement with Sera's sage statement. "Hm, yeah. That's true. Everything goes with barbeque. I wonder why that is?" Something to ponder, for sure.

"Yeeeeeah, that's what he seemed to think. My legs are fire. He was mostly just a weirdo, though. I had to keep a careful eye on him." She shook her head. "No, I just wanted to see the giant spider and climb around on it. Sucks that it's gone."

Life was a series of disappointments.

Her eyes widened as she marveled at the Fairest's new possession. Not only did she like melee weaponry, it was also shiny! A double-whammy for Sonnie! "Oooooooooo! Circe made it for you? Nice work. Very sharp-looking." The Beast grinned, "Ah, I can teach you how to use it!"
