Okay, so maybe the Accountant didn't want to the statue after all. Nobody said Lucas was good at reading people. This right here? This is what a fish out of water looks like.

Eyebrows scrunch together and rise apologetically to Tasi and William. If they had any parting shots this was the time. Especially since the actual auction part of the night was about to start. The mark just seemed to be generally well informed. Which meant Lucas didn't have a heads or tails on what the guy was after. The best bet was probably to peak a license plate number or tail him out. If nothing else Lucas had a face for the money and teammates to find it with.

With a sigh, his eyes begin to scan the room and the security once again. He knows it's a slim chance he can sneak somewhere in time to avoid the booths. A mostly joking pouty face was given to Tasi as he disentangled himself from her and made his way to the nearest booth.

Unless directed to a specific one, Lucas will enter the nearest booth when the auctioneer says to.

"But isn't that half the fun?" she teases their shaven headed friend, with a smirky-pout. She tosses her hair back, with a laugh, "Sir to be making assumptions upon our character!" she tuts, clicking her tongue. Though continues on with the evening.

The auctioner's voice comes over the PA system and Tasi watches everyone hurry off to their booths, heaving a put upon sigh when L-uuuis, no Lacus. No, Lucan, yes, no. Lucas, pulls from her arm. She presses a hand upon her heart in her bereavement, then in an instant she wiggles her fingers in a silent goodbye, taking another way to where she was going. Or well, appearing to.

With everyone huddling into their booths, it's a perfect time to sleuth about.

There was something about the guy, that smug attitude, that air of superiority, just something that twinged at the back of Wills neck. Will just smiled ear to ear as the man talked down to him, the whole time just imagining the man dragging from the back of his car with a belt wrapped around his neck. Your friend's powerful, you're just the fucking bag man bitch. Luckily anger management wasn't Will's problem. The tedium of polite conversation though? That was getting to him.

"The Nameless huh? Got a name for it already. Got better labs than Nasa, remarkable." He gave a short snort, a brief bit of amusement. Then he made the estate auction drop, Will knew a threat when he heard one. He's made many like that before...maybe a bit more crass. At that he coiled up like a viper, eyes looking over the other guy as that smile curled in at the corners. Tasi's jokes helping to break the tension. "She's right, nothing worth having doesn't come without a little risk. Should come to Vegas with me, I'll teach you how to play Poker a little better."

Waving goodbye to their compatriots as he feigned slipping into a booth trying to remember the positions of guards and cameras he'd seen to help keep him out of sight apparently having similar thoughts to Tasi about it. He knew the thing was probably alarmed, and he was a shitty safecracker at best. Oh and don't forget the kill you if you're exposed to it bullshit underneath. Need to take the whole fucking box.

Katherine Port, Monty Pennington, and Lucas Boucher will continue in the thread above.

Tasi Morgan and William Reed will stay in this thread. The marble tracker is therefore off, and should be entirely ignored for the next 2 days.

The Accountant smirks at William, but before he can reply, the Auctioneer informs everyone that it is time to move to their booths and that the auction will begin.

"Another time," the Accountant promises, moving back towards his limited entourage and heading towards their booth. Security materializes to help guide everyone, though for Tasi and William, they see an opening. The bathrooms are unguarded, and as Security is distracted by other guests, they slip inside. They wait for a several minutes for the flow of people to die down, but just as they are about to slip out, they hear something in the distance. Something that sounds like...screams.

Yes, that was a scream, a man crying out in abject terror and pain, but cut brutally short, the silence punctuating the sound of a man dying.

For moments, everything is still, then there are several quick pops, punctuated by another brutally short scream, and all is silent again.

The screams came from deeper in the museum, away from the booths. And, of course, the artifacts lie in their cases, only a few dozen meters away.

Security is nowhere to be found.

What will Tasi and Will do?

Eyes wide in sparkling, anticipatory delight, Tasi's smirk morphs into a grin. Wide and toothsome, she hikes up her dress, and palms her knives. Pulling them free of their sheath, she lets her dress fall, and heads directly to where the screams had come from.

"Fuck, I'm unarmed." He hissed out in a whisper that carried the agitation he was feeling. There was fun and excitement about and he was left to play backup. Guess he'd just throw shit as a worst case but he'd love to have his gun now. Speaking of, where the fuck was security? Did they not hear this shit or were they the ones screaming?

Did a bunch of fly's just step into the fucking spider's web? His lips curling up in a vicious scowl at the thought. Well, he wasn't opposed to a bit of wanton destruction when the mood called for it. Though he couldn't help but give a passing glance to the items. Likely alarmed plus the glass, not that stupid. Besides Tasi was the closest thing he had to a partner right now, couldn't let her have all the fun.

Though as he followed a few paces behind he kept an eye out for security, the security room, or anything resembling a weapon.

Tasi Morgan and William Reed slipped away from the Great Hall, leaving the artifacts alone in their cases. Their footsteps echo gently over the polished marble floors, the statues and paintings in the museum watching impassively as they moved towards where the sound of death had echoed.

The anticipation built as they moved through the museum, with not another soul in sight, just the two of them, and their heartbeats, and a host of imagined nightmares as they neared the sight of another person's death.

When they rounded the corner, they found they'd entered the Egyptian wing of the museum, a host of sarcophagi, canopic jars, and ancient deities staring down at them as they came upon the devastation. It took a moment for their brains to process what they were actually seeing, though slowly, they began to put the pieces together.

An arm here, torn off, yet still wrapped in blood soaked black cloth with the hint of shattered humerus peeking out.

Hips trailing a segment of spine, with only one leg left attached.

The upper torso that had been torn off, the rips splintered and pried open, a mess of organs and partially gnawed sweetmeats lying inside.

A sig sauer still clutched in a hand.

Drag marks through the splatters and sprays of blood.

And all of it sitting in front of a display case that looked as though it had exploded out from the inside, fragments of plexiglass and ancient pottery laying all around...

I will gladly accept int+investigation or int+medicine. Additionally, the sig sauer will use the following stats: Pistol, Light 2L 20/40/80 17+1 2 1 •••

They get to the Egyptian wing, and Tasi spends a oohing the exabits, before her eyes fall naturally on the Jackson Pollock of human limbs.

"Well, well, aren't we lucky. Someone's left us a present." comes a delighted murmur. Heedless of the blood and other assorted human goop, Tasi struts through the scene, looking, and oohing some more.

    Eyes keen, mind bright.

"Oh, and," looking up at Will, "The gods are good, they've left a gun for you darling." fingers waving towards the firearm still clutched in that poor unsightly, unmanicured hand.

Rolled Occult instead, will roll one more die for the investigation difference.

"Man are they gonna be pissed." He couldn't help but chuckle as he eyed the carnage strewn all about. The pair of them standing over an evsicerated corpse, blood and viscera all around them hardly batting an eye. If anything it got Will excited, the scent of blood in the air causing the hair on the back of his neck to stand up a soft push of adrenaline into his system as the Hunt really started.

This, the anticipation of the kill. It's what he lived for, nothing else quite compared to it. Not cocaine, not base jumping, not racing, nothing. Nothing was the same as finding a creature and being the hand that decides if it lives or dies. For one singular moment you were God, you were that creatures God as you sent them straight to hell. He shuddered a little as the high filled him.

As Tasi was examining the corpse he went over to the hand, trying his best to avoid the pools of blood around and knelt down next to it. Prying each finger loose until the gun came free in his hand. He checked the safety, flipped it back to on before pointing the gun away from them and checking the clip and chamber to make sure it was still loaded. Feeling like an idiot as he had to tuck into the waist of his pants making sure it was secure before moving.

"What we got? Think it was Mummy?" Fucking vampires, kitsune, ghosts, spirits, and more were real so why not a fucking Mummy.

The grip of the pistol was still warm from the flesh of its previous owner, though the bullets sitting inside the gun attested to the fact that, whatever had killed the security guard had done so before they could fire off even a single shot. Which meant that, perhaps, some of the body parts strewn around belonged to someone else, but either way, only following the drag marks through the splatters of blood would be able to lead them to the answer. William Reed

Tasi Morgan , on the other hand, is more preoccupied with piecing together the clues that she'd found. Was it just morbid curiosity, or was it something else? Was being this close to edge of life and death, that most primeval, existential ordeal that was able to rouse the higher parts of herself that were normally weighed down by all of the bullshit constantly pushed on her? Regardless of the answer, Tasi knew a few things to be true.

    1) The display case that had exploded open had housed a "guardian statue" discussed in the Book of the Dead. The statue would have been far smaller than even a child, based off of the remains of the plexiglass.

    2) It wasn't a simple explosive device that had caused this carnage. No, there was evidence of a brutal struggle, simply one that happened very quickly.

    3) There were in fact 2 security guards present, as evidenced by bloody foot prints smeared over the ground.

    4) There were more prints found in the bloody drag marks. Tens of them. No, hundreds. Hundreds of prints about the size of a dog's paw. Not the shape, though. No, the shape was all wrong, indicative of something hard scraping through the blood on the marble, something chitinous, perhaps, and based off of the spread of the prints, it was clear they had been made in a rippling, coordinated means of locomotion.

Something had carried off a fully grown man on hundreds and hundreds of chitinous legs...and they were in the same building as it was.
