The Detroit Institute of the Arts was a grand building of white marble which hosted one of the world's most viewed collections in the world, and the sixth largest collection within the United States, and yet for the evening of the Auction, it was closed to all but a select few. Men and women in all black suits stood outside the entrance to the Walter B. Ford Great Hall with subtle earpieces and much less subtle sidearms politely greeted those who arrived. Invitations were collected, coats and electronics were checked (the latter in magnetically sealed bags, along with any other "unmentionables"), and the doors to the museum were opened wide to welcome the patrons of the Auction inside...

The entire museum was open for guests to peruse, with extremely expensive furniture situated throughout, though it was the Great Hall which was the center of events for the evening. Table after table overflowed with delicacies, two full bars had been set up, and waiters circulated to take orders from all those present. Yet, most importantly, it was in the great hall were all 15 items being auctioned were on display in specially constructed plinths shrouded in protective glass.

Some items appeared to be nothing more than priceless relics or works of art that would attract your run of the mill art patron looking to launder their money, and yet other items appeared to be something far more...

Lot 2: The Book of Dead Names

This tome is bound in worn black leather, and was once inlaid with silver and rubies. A relic of the 13th century, The Book of Dead Names was scribed by a heretical priest with the intention of recording the names of the dead so that they might be granted Salvation through Absolution at a later time. Such a project was eventually discarded, and yet the Book of Dead Names has survived, and has notably been found to be central to the Spiritualist movement of Europe and North America in the 19th century.

    Lot 7: The Blueprints

These yellowed pages are the sole surviving copy of the blueprints for the Glass Mansion, the infamous construction which was reported to have been destroyed in a boiler explosion, though no evidence of such has been found to be credible. Hand copied by the architect himself, with personalized notes in the margins, these blueprints have been found to utilize an astounding understanding of advanced physics, as well as sacred numerological tenets, in a truly astounding work of architecture and engineering even by modern standards.

    Lot 9: The Bronze Wheel

This bronze, circular object has often been referred to as a wheel, though its true purpose remains unknown. Beneath the exterior, a series of intricate gears resides in a complex, though seemingly purposeless pattern. Sumerian cuneiform writing has been carved into the bronze, though it is unclear if this writing was added later, or at the time of its creation. Additionally, attempts to carbon date the item have failed, often signifying an age somewhere between 30,000 to 50,000 years old, a truly impossible measurement.

    Lot 10: The Chamforte Letters

This collection of over 109 letters from the 19th century consist of correspondence between one L. Chamforte, and one R. Hraefsborg, discusses seemingly irrelevant events, though several cryptologists suggest the contents of these letters is actually a cleverly coded discussion of early American political events that do not appear in even the most arcane history texts today. Past bidding on these seemingly inconsequential letters has risen as high as 22 million dollars.

    Lot 13: Unknown Carving

This unique carving has been sealed for the protection of everyone present. Some theorize that a currently unknown toxic element has been used in this ancient carving, as severe neurological damage has effected every person exposed to the carving without proper safety procedures in place. Nevertheless, this carving is also comprised of Jadeite, blue diamonds, pink diamonds, emeralds, and alexandrite, whose raw worth is estimated at somewhere around 4.5 million dollars. Considering that this carving has also been successfully dated between 18,000 and 19,000 years old, this might well be the earliest evidence of human art every discovered.

Fortunately, you are some of the first to arrive, allowing you to not only take note of the items up for auction, but also the other guests as they arrive...

For ease of play, we will say that you have all agreed to go as an impromptu Cell working together out of necessity and posing as Pennington's entourage to get you through the door. Feel free to discuss any concerns or questions in the original plot call:

    Otherwise, please post your entrance!

Wits+Larceny if you would like to bring in anything that is not a pen, paper, mechanical watch, jewelry, make-up, or health products.

Kate evaluated the parking lot and mentally moaned about leaving her backpack in the back seat of her Ridgeline. Kate did not even pack any thing of use in the back pack that was staying behind as she was wary about the security here. She flipped open the compact mirror and checked her appearance, ensuring her neutral lipstick and green eyeliner were passable. She tucks this into her small leather purse, which contains her wallet with her investigator ID and some cash, her make up, a small notebook and a few pens. She pulls out her phone and texts Monty: I'm here, where are you?

Kate dresses up a bit in a gray sheath tank, olive green blouse and black dress slacks. She wears dark gray flats that she hopes she can run in as everything tends to go sideways. Her brown hair is styled in loose waves. She wears her iron charm necklace, unconsciously touching it as she looks around the parking lot for the rest of the cell.

Montgomery’s Cherry red vintage corvette pulled into a parking spot at the Detroit Institute of the Arts. He stepped out of the car and pulled his jacket protector from the passenger seat. Unzipping the protector he pulled a stunning expensive black suit jacket that completed his upscale ensemble.

He heard the distinct ringtone of “Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!” indicating that he had received a text from Katherine Port . Taking a moment more to make himself presentable he reached into the car for his phone. Reading the text he fired off a quick reply. Just waking in now.

He made his way to where he found Kate. ”Hey. Good to see ya, this should be fun.” He said to Kate take a second to capture them in a selfie style photo. He motioned to her indicating that they should head in and called out to the first black suited host with an ear piece he found. ”Pennington party, I have a block of seats reserved.”

Leaving the stuntman in the car, with a negligent wave, Tasi strides to the entrance, tall, confident, a smirk plying her lips.

Right and left snug and cold against her thighs, her chain she has around her waist, for now a shiny, if somewhat chunky accessory. Pairing with her dress, a fitted black number, flaring out and draping elegantly with cold delicate chains hanging, draping down her back. Wig, slivery to match her chains, and braided and piled upon her crown to keep out of their way. Her heels, sharp enough to kill a man, with the signature red of their Louboutin soles, a bloody echo upon the floor.

Her phone she passes to the security, but keeps her makeup and her clutch. She's wearing a full face, obviously she'll need to touch it up. (Though underneath she has several clear zip ties, you never knew. As well as a small penlight)

After her cloak's given over to the check, her eyes are already roaming.

Being forced into this evening with a pair of Zeros, well. Tonight was already promising to be interesting.

Will Reed’s ride was a far more practical one than one might except from a wheelman. It wasn’t a flashy sports car, it wasn’t a vintage automobile. What it was was a car that could handle all kinds of terrain and take a beating while remaining functional. The additions to it were the real shine, roll cage for collisions, handbrake for drifting, there was still a lot of work to be done to it though and he had big dreams.

Tasi was an interesting one for sure, and since they were part of the same club he was glad they got to ride together with more time to chat in the future. Conservative was definitely not in Will’s vocabulary, fast was never fast enough, and high was never high enough. There was always a new thrill to chase and the Abbey had so many new thrills to offer.

He stepped out of the car with a soft whistle seeing the security and cursing lightly to himself. Gun was probably a no-go because it was too big to hide. He couldn’t disassemble it into enough pieces to smuggle in either. If anything popped off he’d just have to use the security as meat shields. His skin itched as that naked feeling came over him from leaving the gun in his center console while cursing to himself.

Buy a smaller fucking gun idiot. Not going to be able to bring a fucking hand cannon into a secure event. Play it cool, hopefully the other ruckus will be enough of a smokescreen to get your shit and go.

He at least could bring his picks, just in case they were needed. Disperse the set in the lining of his jacket, in his shoe, all over his body. If he needed them they were there and he could recollect them later for use. He tugged at his jacket, arms out to be frisked as he passed by security.

The security procedure seems to be almost entirely based upon trust. This is an exclusive event, after all, and identities are verified. What's more, given the incredibly lucrative nature of this auction, and the rather anonymous nature of both the host of the auction and the clientele alike, anyone who breaks faith will likely face a less than judicial punishment should they be caught...

Alas, it seems as though there isn't currently any danger of that, as security politely does a cursory search and waves the party through.

In they step to the Great Hall, with the items up for auction on full display, elegantly lit, with a brief description of each item and their certifications of authenticity and ownership histories on display ( William Reed )

    The Artifacts

All that is left to do is inspect the artifacts, discuss goals and strategies, and of course, observe the targets that might be stepping inside after them...

About a dozen guests slowly trickle in (it is fashionable to be late, after all) before the hunters spot the first person to pique their interest. Or, rather, they spot their known quarry and let deductive reasoning do the rest. For, while many predators of the night use the blessings of the dark and the shadows, there are those who instead wield their presence like a flame to draw in the moths and are all the more visible for it. After all, when a unknown man or a woman strides into a room with the confidence and allure to make even the most beloved film stars appear dim, it might be more than a coincidence, particularly when in the company of a suspected murderer.

Before tonight, Katherine Port , Monty Pennington , and Tasi Morgan had been on the trail of a particularly brutal bloodsucker, and the only lead they had was a thrall that they had managed to trail. They'd found evidence of an invitation to this event in the thrall's phone, and they'd come hoping to catch a glimpse of the thrall's monstrous master, and who else could it be, but this woman?

Well, that was for them to determine.

    __________________________________________________ ___

Others trickled in, until the next quarry stepped through the door. The Accountant, suspected apprentice of a brutal Warlock from the East Coast, and the only lead that ( Xander ) Lucas Boucher had been able to follow...

The ball was now in the Hunter's court...

The security seems to be flawed. No contraband is flagged, everyone makes it inside clean!

"Hey," Kate greeted as the others joined. "I am Kate."
She clarified. She checked out Tasi's outfit appreciatively. The full face of make-up was noted. Perhaps she should have made more effort.

Katherine searches out a catalog for the auction to read over the details of the offerings. She opened the catalog and reads through, pulling out her small notebook and pen to jot down the auction number of what was of interest. Or what the target was interested in and paying attention to.

She ticks her eyes to Monty to gain his attention and cuts her eyes to the item that the potential target is looking at. Never looking at the mark directly, but tracking movement over the catalog that she was browsing.

Lucas was last in the entourage, following silently behind Pennington and the rest of his impromptu cell. He arrived in his Altima, and was dressed in a black suit and tie. He didn't bother bringing anything more then a pad and pen inside . Seeing the armed security that lined the building? He doubted there would be trouble, much less any trouble he had a chance to defuse before he had enough lead in him to function as a pencil.

Rather then check out the items he sticks with the group and watches as people file into the building. When he spots The Accountant, he leans into the cell. "We got a plan?" His voice is just above a whisper. As Katherine walks off, he turns his attention to the remaining group. "Uh, split up I guess?"

A somewhat nervous look is traded with his companions.

Equipment- Nissan Altima, Beretta M92 (In the car), Smartphone (in the car), Laptop (in the car), Pad and pen.

Monty gave a slight nod to Katherine Port to indicate that he understood her look. He took a deep breath before turning his attention to Lucas Boucher ”Plan is simple.” He said with a wave of his hand. ”Keep your eyes open, let me know if you find anything weird and most importantly, enjoy yourself, I am going to mingle.”

He took a moment to spare a glance William Reed and Tasi Morgan I don’t like coming out with three untested people but my sources vouched for each of them so I guess that is something. As long as they don’t screw this all up I will be happy.

He plastered a smile on his face and walked toward a group of arriving guests. ”Greetings folks, Nice to see you all. I hope you all are as excited about the auction as I am and you are ready to spend some money, because I came to buy.” He joked with a pleasant friendly laugh.

He tried to keep an eye on the mysterious woman without looking like it, while he created his distraction.

Kitty(Katy? Kathy?)'s making eyes around the room. A blatant signal, that everyone can see, never mind their prey. Monty decides he's in charge and heads away to the other guests, leaving Tasi, Will, and what was his name...? Doesn't matter he's pretty to look at. She makes to loop her arms through theirs,

"Now, boys. I know where my leads lead." Tasi gives the fucking queen, (god Tasi would let that women step on her) a healthy once over, smirk sharp, as she looks her fill, "But for yours...?" looking away and towards the boys, excited, delighted, expectant.
