Tipping the Hourglass

[Winter]

The small light gets brighter, invigorated by each drag he takes. Like a small candle burning its wick.
He's standing there against the wall, on the stair of the inner courtyard. Salt and pepper against the grey marble, basking under the liminal lights of the sunset, as dusk gives way to the evening, and the chilly Autumn winds brush against his parka.
His eyes half closed.
"Peaceful", he mutters under his breath.

[Campanella]

A Moros appears, resolve out of the shadows that now bloom around the courtyard as the lingering day descends into night. Campanella is still dressed for summer, in a light beige suit with a jacket. He wares a tie that is covered in a series of abstract designs: they are not Atlantean glyphs, but they do come close.

He encounters the Guardian as he comes up from the cellars which the Mystagogue's have claimed as their own.

Rather than disturb Winter's peace, Campanella simply waits quietly before finding a suitable pillar to lean against.

When Winter acknowledges his presence, the Moros greets him.

"Yes. Peaceful indeed."

If the Guardian wanted to talk, he would.

[Winter]

He doesn't open his eyes, but he recognizes the familiar presence. Moros or Morose? Funny how a vowel can make a world of difference.
The Guardian doesn't reply immediately, rather, he basks in the full glory of a world gone twilight for one last moment. He takes another drag, it's only then that he speaks.
The Obrimos definition of quietness may vastly differ form that of a Moros'. Different points of view. The Moros' might be a lot more final.
"How are you faring. We haven't had many occasions to talk"

[Campanella]

"I have been well."

Campanella shifted his weight.

"Starting to revel in a sense of freedom. No weight of responsibility. I had become so accustomed to it that I had forgotten it was there. As a result I've been feeling surprisingly light of late."

A delicate pause.

"No. We have not. I have missed our little chats. I hope your confinement was not too much."

Campanella had not visited the Guardian during his confinement. There was rumour and conjecture that Kaze had had guests during his. A sorrowful wince creased the Moros face but he did not look away. He respected Winter too much for that.

"How are you faring? After all that..."

He made a second attempt at continuing the conversation.

[Winter]

They're never truly beyond responsibility, it's the unwritten burden every Awakened takes on himself, the downside of having your ignorance burnt out by the truth.
They both know this, the weight of their unsaid words lingers between them.
"I'm good. Isolation has a way of bringing the best out of you. Forces you to think. I guess I needed a bit of time to reflect. So, the civilian life is treating you well?"

[Campanella]

A smile shimmered into existence on the Moros' lips.

"Well, yes. Actually. I've had quite a successful few months - very profitable. And not a scent of anything arcane. I've been running the business almost on autopilot. Quite possibly a good thing, too, considering the weighty things I have been contemplating. And the correspondence. I don't know who is more flowery and verbose: Moros masters, luminaries of the Mysterium, or Moros masters who happen to be luminaries of the Mysterium."

[Winter]

He didn't expect the Moros to be this cheerful and talkative. It was a sign that really the burden of responsibility was dragging him down.
He listens and nods, contemplating carefully his next words.
"We live in the Lie, at the same time we shouldn't forget that the part of us that is still deeply entrenched within the Illusion is still an active piece of ourselves.
I can relate with the feeling", he stares in the vast emptiness of the courtyard, "so, business is booming, uh? Strange, a lot of missing faces at the latest Consilium. No traces of Star and Tyche. Pixel was absent too", he states in a matter of fact manner.

[Aurora]

There were times when you sought the solitude the Circle could provide. Why she felt she needed it? She wasn’t sure yet, but it was where she found herself.

Hearing voices from the courtyard, she makes her way over. Others were here?

The sound of her heels announces her as she walks out, happy to see Winter and Campanella talking. Smiling and raising a hand, she continues to make her way over,

“I hope I’m not interrupting anything.” She says, stopping a respectful distance away, in case she was. A little more dressy than usual in loose fitting dress pants with a fitted black tank top, she had some folders in her hand.

[Winter]

Aurora demanded attention like an addict craved heroin. It was hard to not notice her, or refuse her company for the matter.
He observes her for a second, noticing the choice of attire, odd given the chilling evening. Though, with masters of life you can never tell.
"We were just chatting. How are you?", he says acknowledging her. He leaves some space on the stair where he's sitting, if she wishes to join him.

[Kaze]

Kaze wanders into the Circle, just checking it out, wondering if anyone new in town might have shown up looking for a community to anounce themselves. He's wearing a black solid short sleeved shirt and black trousers, and athletic shoes.

He notices the telltale smell of Winter's vice.

Following his nose, he hears voices in conversation, Winter, Aurora...someone else. He comes to the edge of the courtyard and sees the Former Hierarch chatting with the Shaman and the Guardian.

Kaze pauses, thinking he should probably not linger and move on, but who else would he talk to, Phoenyx? No, if he was going to get shot down, he'd rather it not be so personal.

"Hey." Kaze says, quietly announcing his presence before he can overhear anything they wouldn't want him to.
