He cannot see either of his order mates. They were either too busy or had eschewed the staleness of Consilium in order to pursue more worthy goals.
Pleasantries away and done, the Guardian slips to the rightmost wall. There, under a blanket of shadows, he lights a cigarette.
"It's been a while"
Gonna open a side thread
Anima is shocked into silence for a moment realizing he'd missed the presence of Abacus. Seems the Acanthus has undisappeared. He nods and opens his mouth to respond to Guru when the Arrow speaks up. His mouth hangs open for a moment and then closes as he takes a seat.
"Quite a way to start the meeting." the doctor mumbles under his breath
"I appreciate the structure. Beyond the threat still posed by our infestation of Abyssal spiders I'm not aware of other imminent threats."
With things quieting down, she looks around, eyes settling on Winter. Some might not enjoy his company, but the Shaman always enjoyed talking with him. Once you got past the gruff outer shell, he was a pretty nice guy.
So she gets up, dusting off her pants and walks over. Black pants and floors were not a good match.
Campanella's head snapped around as Anima spoke.
"Abyssal Spiders?"
The Moros frowned.
"That is... disturbing. How has your investigation been going so far?"
He looked around - the initial conversation around Guru and his artefact appeared to have simmered down. No doubt the Shaman would be able to find confederates for his work once the Consilium meeting was over.
"As long as the Artefact is safely stored, it should be okay to study," he offered. For now. Perhaps he could induce the Apostate to hand over the item - or better yet, draw him into the Mysterium's fold. That left this... infestation.
Campanella turned an attentive gaze toward Anima
Naga looked to Skye when the Arrow approached her. An eyebrow arched curiously.
"I suppose we can meet to discuss whatever your issue is," she said with a nod.
The topic of Abyssal Spiders drew her attention next, her eyes going to Anima and Campanella.
"Pixel has not been seen," Phoenyx replies to Winter with a half-shrug. She didn't care for the younger magus. "He left without any notice. During your absence I suggested usign alternative methods of govening, given the number of Councillors are... frequently less than full and make up a dispropotionate amount of the concillium. I was goign to adress that issue last."
She looks across to Campenella. "The area has been calm enough, and it does not lie within the territory of the Veuiled Threats. We have a plan of attack to destroy the creatures. The issue is in hand." She sounds calm, to the point of nonchalance. To her, it was. She had a plan of attack, and all that was needed was the strike.
"Unless there are any questions, we should arrange the research for Guru's artifact. I recommend doing so here, at the Circle, as a neutral ground with the most magical protection."
If running things was simply telling people what was logical, perhaps it wasn't all that difficult. As ever, act like everything is under control, embrace the challenges, and grow.
Yumyumcrow re we planning on another half of Bad House, or shall we consider it done?
“Nature of the curse, if it’s actually a curse. Makes sense.” Then the tingle of magic washed over him sending a shiver down his spine the hairs on his arms straight before he held up a hand. “Yea I didn’t bring it with me, I didn’t wanna, like, jeopardize everyone here especially without their knowledge.” He didn’t get a chance to address winter before he walked off.
As Phoenyx basically took over the meeting is when he finally sat back down, though his foot kept tapping under the table. The energy had to go somewhere after all, then he saw the spark out of the corner of his eyes before they went wide. “We can smoke in here? Good to know.” His attention returning at the mention of the spiders.
“Note, when you blast one have a means on deck to blast all the little spidies they explode into. That’s an important note. Life mages to purge toxins help too. I dunno what else happened downstairs, I was busy battling tinnitus between my shotgun and Kaze’s shout. We need a plan of attack for sure.” He nodded agreeing with Phoenyx.
“That’s a good suggestion, no problems at all doing it here. Lotta people asked questions about it’s Arcanum, don’t know the major thing that stood out with it was the flaw in it that seemed to shatter magic. I have not studied it independently out of caution so it’s locked up for now.
“So we can do it here at the Circle when there’s no meetings being held I have no problems with that. A wide variety of Arcana and experience is welcome to try and decipher it. As a note the “creature” was being hunted, don’t know if it was because it was abnormal, the item, or something else entirely. I just don’t want to, like, have folks blind sided if I can help it yea.”
So yeah. Abacus is back, and he's more interested in Guru's cursed item than in where Pixel went. Maybe he knows something? Or probably he's just more interested in the idea of a magic thing to poke at and study. Like most of the people here. And especially Winter, offering to 'help' with the item, the first day back from cheating in a duel...that was about keeping hold of magic items, right? Yeah, seems like that's his addiction.
Phoenyx makes sense, though. Not sure just what the plan is for the spiders, and isn't that just like a spidery thing to do, like when you see one, and lash out, and you think you got it, but...no body? Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see if anything comes out of a discussion about leadership, specifically how to decide who is leading the Consilium, and make it stick.
Kaze listens. He has gotten used to not speaking at the official meetings, and finds it's actually pretty relaxing, just listening and taking it in. He wonders if Abacus is going to be around a while this time. He is Councillor by default, it seems like.
I am willing to continue the plot if other people are interested. It's a modular story so you can drop it, and pick it up again, whenever you wish.
If you wish to continue the Spiders storyline, please indicate in your next posts and if we have a minimum of four (4) characters willing to hunt Abyssal Spiders, I'll put something together.
If you do, please be aware the house istoastcleared of Spider influence.
In the absence of anything to analyze, and the all too present magnitude of Guru's entire personality, the Enchanter dismissed his Sight, eyebrows furrowed in mild annoyance and slight disappointment.
The mentioning of Pixel does strike him as odd. But it didn't alarm him. Unlike some, Occam's Razor was a simple concept to him. It's late August, and Pixel is among the youngest of the Awakened in this Consilium. He is also the only one that Abacus is aware of, that is currently matriculated in an undergraduate program.
"School's starting up soon. It's entirely reasonable that his absence is for completely mundane reasons."
There was the matter of those Libertines out of San Francisco. It's entirely plausible he got wrapped up in their aged rebellion to the sound of the Grateful Dead pumping out of an RV. But Abacus was not so sure. It did draw a smile out of him though.
"Where is Magus Tyche?"
