The pull had been there. In her heart and head as she went in Dreams night after night to heal others.

The desire to increase her abilities. To make herself a more powerful healer, to be able to help those around her more.

And They had been there, the Guild, her teachers. Beckoning her to let them teach her more.

And yet, she held back. For weeks, and months, she ignored that call, pushed it aside. Focused on the task she was there to perform.

When she was awake, the urge would be there again, pushing her towards greater things. And she would look at her hands, well, through them, ball them into fists and push the thoughts away.

It was a difficult place to be in. To have that desire and urge to do everything you can to protect and help those around you. The ones you cared about and needed in your life. And yet when you had been told your whole life that all you were good for, and all you had to offer were your looks, it was hard to watch them fade away.

Could she still be loved and wanted if more faded away? She could bring the gloves back to hide the hands, but what else would fade? How much could she hide?

Most importantly, would he still love her? Still want her around?

But fear gripped her heart. She had something she had always wanted, love. But was she about to lose it?

In the end, as it was time to wake, she knew, the fear had won.
