(2003) Getting to know you

A single nod, “In my years here, there had always been one Winter Monarch, Sasha. A Fairest Dancer who owned a wonderful jazz club. She was a fair Monarch, always had a kind word and would do anything in her power to be of help. A couple months ago, she left.” A note of sadness in her tone, “We’re not sure why, nothing was said. So Winter has always been held in the highest regard within the Freehold, and Sasha helped lead us against a mighty foe when I first arrived.” Sasha had been a wonderful friend and Monarch. “We didn’t have a Winter Monarch this past season, and there are repercussions we are dealing with. But I have no doubt that Winter will continue to be a cornerstone for the Freehold.” There was two of them now. The question now was, would both stick around?

“I don’t see any reason why we would not welcome you. We don’t have a Freehold Pledge, it hasn’t seemed to take hold when we attempt it, so you’ll be Pledging with me.”

A look was shot at Sonnie Wu . This was not the time nor the place for such an outburst.

The smile returns as she looks back to Angel. "Seems someone is a bit anxious to party." she jokes with a laugh. "But back to the pressing issue, the Pledge. Should you find it agreeable, we can swear to it, and all join the party and make it a night to remember." a wink added to Angel.


"Do you promise and swear not to knowingly aid the Gentry and their agents, to keep secret our Freehold for the Season, and in doing so to assist others with a small gesture of faith? In doing so, you shall find your endeavors prosperous, generating a small fortune, so long as the Pledge lasts. Failure, however, will bring about misfortune in all you attempt, that which you once coveted will turn against you. Will you swear to this Pledge?”

Task: Lesser Forbiddance -1 (will not serve the Gentry or their agents, nor harm each other or Freehold members)

Angel politely ignores the ruckus and keeps the queen in focus. It's not difficult to allow the monarch to consume their attention after all.

"That is most agreeable your highness.

Angel's back goes rigid, chin held high with pride and respect to the gravity of pledging oneself to a queen.

"I promise and swear that I will not knowingly aid the Gentry or their agents,
to keep secret our Freehold for the Season,
and in doing so to assist others with a small gesture of Faith"

The weight of the words, of a pledge made, is reflected in the tiny clouds of air with each breath. The fog Angel's breath creates thickens until the word Faith is spoken. It is done.

Angel curtsy's to the monarch. "Thank you for the opportunity."

Give Caesar his due, the Queen could word a Pledge. She nods along as the newcomer signs it with the blessing of the Wyrd.
The things you have to do to keep the County Safe.
But as they had already discussed, she wasn't all that convinced by the virtues of Oath. The Red Poppy Company accident was eye-opening.

With Angel saying it was agreeable, Sera infuses it with her own Wyrd, sealing it on her end.

“And thank you Angel. I look forward to working with you and getting to know you better.” Her smile genuine. “Should you find yourself in need, don’t hesitate to call. Perhaps we can meet soon over coffee or tea and chat.” Getting to know people, it was one thing she greatly enjoyed.

“If you’ll please excuse me, but there is an announcement to make. Please, enjoy the party, there is more outside.” A gesture to the door leading outside.

Sera nods to both woman and rejoins the main thread.
