Jacque discarded yesterday's date from his wall calendar, revealing it was Friday the 15th of November, 1957. A flip of the switch and the whir of industrial electronics filled the oversized room. Row by row lights kicked on revealing several lab machines on stainless steel tables and refrigerators within proximity of the equipment. On the opposite side of the room there were several chalkboards, filled with formulas, equations and crudely drawn cell structures. Lining the wall beside those were shelves upon shelves of kennels, cages and aquariums housing various species of animals.

The weekend had come which meant the nearby population once again left for the city, not to return until Monday. He donned a lab coat and opened a fridge, pulling out three vials of blood and promptly placing them in a centrifuge. While waiting for that to process, he made his way to the record player and flipped it on, emitting Mozart from the speakers in the room.

"Tonight is the night," he muttered under his breath as he scanned across the chalkboard. "...I'm going to beat you this time." A click was heard as the centrifuge finished and Jacque turned back to the work, quickly prepared slides from each of the samples. He put each under the microscope in turn, jotting down notes as he stared into the eyepiece. Then came the final slide. He did a double take, then checked his notes against the corresponding vial. "Fuck." The blunt reaction fell from his lips as his eyes widened, staring in disbelief. "It still reverted. How?" He looked back to the fridge completely lost in thought except uttering the word once again, this time with the tremble of fear in his voice, "...fuck."
