All That Could Ever Be

There's a variety of reasons that prompt him to gravitate toward the Clock. Some are quite predictable given his affiliations, professional, one could say. Others - given his fluid views of morality - more personal. Luckily, the first set of conflicting views is prevailing. Even though the temptation grows stronger.

He superimposes the Aetheric winds over his more mundane senses, attuning his sight to the small fluctuations that still excite the Supernal pattern of the Artifact. Quickly bricks of mana assemble into structures, mandalas over a small landscape of truth.
He lights another cigarette. The stick bobs up and down in his mouth, as he hums a tune.

The new Herald made it his business to keep up with the goings on at the Circle. No surprise then that it was only a matter of time before he showed up in his typical ragged clothes with a messenger bag.

"Hey." He smiles and waves as he moseys over to Winter. He stops with a few extra feet between them, watching the cancer stick bob for a sec before returning his attention to the smoker. "Wassup?"

A pair of golden glyphs dance about him.

Hs other senses precede his mundane perception. "Oh, it's you", he says turning his head to the newcomer. "Herald"
He waves the cigarette between his fingers like a conductor's wand. "Just admiring the Eye", he gestures toward the clock.

Beady eyes bob up to the clock and back to Winter.

"Eye?" His expression is blank as he stares at the Guardian. "I thought it was a clock."

His eyes widen as fear seeps into them.

"Oh man, is that what it does? It spies on people? Is it spying on us now?"

His attention splits between Winter and the clock, panic clearly visible.

"Chill", he says, turning his attention back to the artifact, "the clock is just a shape. A form if you will. The Artifact's true name is the eye of the Ouroboros", he adds flatly. "I personally brought it back from five centuries ago", as if he was talking about shopping for groceries. "It is not a spying device"

"Oh neat." A calmer tone emerged, though his attention remained split. "So how did you time travel? Is that a normal mage thing around here?"

If the Guardian was expecting a stronger response he might be disappointed. The Free Councilor was either aware of time travel or just lacked the understanding to know how that was more impressive then creating portals or artificial intelligences.

"It's complicated", he answers, "We haven't studied the artifact in depth. But in theory time travel is a bit more hazardous than spatial travel - like moving through a room - you have the normal dimensions, but then you also need to work through sympathetic ties that might have been erased", he takes another drag from the smoke.
"Imagine going from A to B in spatial terms. Say you wanted to walk over there", he points at the other side of the courtyard, "you'd be just performing an operation through a geometric plane. When you add time to the equation... multiple layers. It's a higher dimensional process, one that is fluid, as you're at the same time affecting and being affected by the flow of causation. The result is that things are never set in stone. So, the answer to the question is that the clock does what it does in ways that we still can't understand. Not only it does, but it did and it will do. It's a continuous action requiring its existence both in the past and in the present and perhaps in the future. As for the crudest applications, I could probably give you a demonstration"

Some narrative. Sorry for the delay.

The Clock / Eye of Ouroboros is currently inert. That is to say, inactive. The Resonance given off by the Artefact is still tremendous and even after a year it is still quite solid and distinct, should one wish to study it. The Clock stands out to their Sight, quite distinct from the Sanctuary.

Its a circular pattern write through the fabric of floor. Stone and tesalated tiles are not so much part of the floor as fabric of the device itself.

Pixel nods along with what the Guardian's explanation. It was fair to call it more complicated since Pixel understood Space and not Time, but application would always be preferable to theory.

"Sure!" He smiles at the mention of a demonstration. "And then maybe we can take a look at the clock? I got Space, Mind, and Matter I can take a look with if you want a particular perspective."
