"Ah fuck, Babymama is gonna get loose! Quick, we have to get to Satan!" Morgan blurted out, the adrenaline pumping through her veins flushing any consideration for the fact that Backpack Man would have no idea what she was talking about. Which, of course, was her 80's musclecar, still blasting Sun 0))) into the area.
1 success
Phoenyx dashes down the stairs and out the front door. There's the sound of something behind her, but the Arrow dares not look back, trying to slam the door shut behind her.
Yumyumcrow I figured this will be a roll of some kind, but I'm not quite sure what.
1 success
Phoenyx dashes down the lobby to the front door. Something is definately moving behind her, but the Arrow doesn;t look back, trying to slam the door shut behind her.
@YumYumCro, I figured this would be a roll of some kind but not quite sure what.
Close call, yo.
"It went after her!" he yelled, torn between dashing back into the house and... common sense. Also? Can't help but shiver a little at the thought of hairy spider-lady thingy touching him. There's at least a dozen ways he'd rather kick the bucket than getting aggressively cougared by that. Sure, it's an assumption that there's going to be a big gas explosion, but when the metallic whump is all there is, baleful green eyes flash a look at Anima.
Okay. So that's 'a thing'.
Now that he's not in danger of getting blown up, the angel takes off at a run towards the front of the house.
...What the heck is 'Satan'?
Star and Morgan are scrambling, moving quickly from the back yard to the front.
Anima breaks into a walk as he makes for his vehicle. Kaze spins around, searching for enemies - and see's something inhuman hard on Phoenyx tail.
The Arrow seems to know it, too, and attempts to snap the front door shut as she clears the building....
There's something exhillerating about this. Being on the edge. Knowing it is your skills against another. Sparring is fine. But this... this is the live show.
One wrong move...
The Arrow grabs the door and wrenches it behind her.
2 successes
A commotion behind him causes Anima to turn.
Holy Spider-Woman
Backing away he tries as best he can to get as much information as he can out of his glimpse at the beast through his spirit sight. Which is to say, nothing, as the Arrow tries to slam the door.
failure
Kaze runs towards Phoenyx, prepared to block for her if she is in danger of being caught by the thing chasing her!
See -
There is a thing that happens when someone hasharnessedtrained their body to the extent that Phoenyx has. A sense of awareness that slides beyond the subconscious.
Phoenyx simply knows there is something behind her. And her honed reflexes snap into motion. She twists, slams the door shut, as if she were brushing away a fly.
It is only when the door slams does she actually become aware of her action. And of the inhuman face at the door's little window - a face now warped and expanded beyond recognition as the mandibles part revealing grinding mouthparts closer to a locust than that of a human.
An eerie keen echoes through door, reinforcing that the creature is most definitely not human.
Danger contained - I'm thinking this is a good point to wrap. I'll leave the scene open for the weekend so you may post concluding comments.
And we can either end the story or continue it further at your desire.
Apologies - I thought we would get some combat that time.
He figured since they went in the back, she'd go out the back.
It's only when he's halfway to the back and hears the door in the front that he realizes the mistake. Makes sense? Cars were out front. If you parked outside the front of the house you're breaking into. But it still, piled on top of Puff the Magic Did A Thing, helps this all seem like a Keystone Kops/Mr. Bean operation. He doesn't mind. It's like the awkward first kiss of bumping noses or, worse, teeth. Better yet? Just killing the... thing... wasn't his first choice. Like, sure, it probably needed killing -- but that didn't account for the spirit.
But he knows more about spirits in a bar than spirits in... wherever spirits are.
Course reversed, he jogs back to the front.
"So, like...," he peered at Anima, "We need to totally talk about what yelling 'I did a thing -- run' means?"
