The words of Truth flow out of his mouth effortlessly. With a nod to the Hierarch, The Guardian steps into the circle, his vision open to the bright flames of the Aether. "You take everything personally. That's exactly your problem", regardless of what Shodan does, the Guardian wants his declaration to be heard last, to give them closure.

The Shaman approaches his fellow Libertine.

"Greetings Shodan, good luck on your duel this evening. I've come prepared to dispense aid once the duel ends, both mundane and arcane. Should you fall today you will be remembered for your bravery in defense of knowledge for all. That being said, should something happen to you, could I study your brain. Purely for academic reasons, nothing untoward of course, and I'll treat it with the utmost respect" The shaman gives his best warm smile.

Whoops, apparently not entirely invisible.

Long fingers point at himself, then he even turns to look behind him. What? Him? Star could be a popular s'name, ya know. Arms immediately fold like someone whipping out a cross to ward off an evil spirit. Remember: pretty girls are mean, yo.

"Hi. Hello. October? No relation to July, I hope?" Probably not, unless she got the looks and he got the stupids. Imagine that, though: A family of at least ten. "We'll, uh. Just have to make do. Sticker-less." A weak smile was offered in return. This illusion of sociability was the worst one yet. "Thanks. Yeah. Great movie. Uh. I like your name, too. Good month. Halloween. Poetry Day. National School Lunch Week..." Wait, what? Who celebrated school lunches?

The recital of dubious holidays is interrupted by another surprise.

Take note, everyone: Campanella doesn't like foreplay. Weird, right? He looked like the kind of guy to spend an hour swirling wine around and sniffing it before taking a swallow. The angel was hoping for a formal recital of concessions, but apparently that was already known? S'all good. Goggles are on, let's watch the show.

A snicker escaped at the bald guy's request. Loved you in 'Shazam!', bro.

"Slow your roll, Dr. Lecter. It's at least eight hours too early for creepy anatomy questions."

[Kaze]

Kaze smiles and winks at Mobius in a reassuring way, possibly thinking she looks a little nervous. He smiles more slightly maybe even wistfully at Phoenyx in her all business, duty and vigilance demeanor.

Kaze nods and smiles ina low key, friendly response to October's social acknowledgement. He listens to Cosmo and Hierarch Campanella studiously taking in their words and implications.

He clearly identifies Papillo as a definite 'new guy' unlike that other guy whose name doesn't seem to fit him and is all the harder to remember for the incongruity, aren't stars supposed to shine bright or have a spotlight on them?

Kaze nods to Papillo and says softly, "Kaze, Obrimos. Apostate."

Kaze gives a schooled, supportive look in the direction of both Shodan and Winter, doing his both to be in tune with the spirit and purpose of the gathering. He doesn't try for eye contact with either one.

Anima's last quick plea for the sake of science right at the end there actually brings a thoughtful, unconscious nod from Kaze, and then he chants softly and casts Supernal Vision on himself, focusing his full attention on the duelists.

All things considered, she had no real desire to see what was about to happen. Something about the clash of two wills made her uncomfortable, even if it was the law of the land. It was as if with there was no way to surpass human nature, all the while controlling the world like gods. Kaze's wink did little to make her feel any better.

She wandered her way closer to where Star and October were speaking, surprised really, that the quirky guy from Starbucks was clearly something more than.. quirky. Otherwise he wouldn't be here.

"I don't mean to interrupt." she says quietly to the pair, "but you've really gotta get him to tell you about the secret menu." she says without elaborating, wondering if Star would remember her from the crowd of faces in the coffee shop.

[October]

And just like that, the circle was squared and the Duel could begin.

She calls upon Fate to open eyes to spectacle she was about to witness. Two Awakened battling it out, one for honor, one for foolish pride. But who would walk out the winner? She honestly wasn’t sure.

Then Star was talking, and she looks to him, shaking her head, “July? Nope. The months a little too warm for my tastes.” She jokes. “Thankfully, our group is small, so I don’t think anyone will forget your name. And if they do, I seriously question their intelligence and ability to wield magic.” Cause Star was an easy enough name to remember. Chuckling softly, “National School Lunch Week? That’s a new one for me, I’ll have to add it to my calendar.” She didn’t feel like taking much seriously today. The Duel was serious enough, a laugh, joke and smile were needed.

Then the unassuming one approached, one she’d seen here before, but had yet to talk with. Seems now is as good of as any.

An eyebrow quirks at the girl, then looks to Star, “Did we get a secret menu here? If so, then I’m really disappointed no one let me in on it.”

And then magic was flying. Eyes watch as the messenger bag was set down.

[Cosmo]

Cosmo would watch the duel if he weren't surprised by just how many mages didn't already have their sights up. He watched in a mixture of concern and wonder as multiple mages including a duelist and the Heirarch throw up their sights just before beginning the duel. Were people not curious about the nature of the world around them? Was there some warped notion of humility that they would abandon the insight of the unveiling practice for Sleeper experience? The Ladder worried about them, but for now he was content to chuckle at Star's response to Anima and October's jokes.

"Anything good to drink on the menu?" Eyes stayed fixed on the duel, but his head turned in Star's direction. "Just watching makes me parched."

[Phoenyx]

Phoenyx watched the new people be met and greeted. It was nice - it meant she didn't have to do it and could tend to her duties.

The smiles and nods were returned in kind to Kaze and October.

The Arrow kept her Supernal Sight on all the time, so there was no need to cast. She moved slowly around to get the best view of the duel she could, something excited and keen in her eyes. While the conversations batted back and forth, the Arrow only had eyes for Shodan and Winter.

"Yes..." She says, entirely to herself, watching the flames and ripples of gravity lurch back and forth.

[Star]

Waiting, waiting, waiting...

"...At Seerbucks," he finished pointedly for Mobius . He gave her a grin and resists the urge to lean and bump shoulders. Take one part Avis, one part Tuesday, blend and pour. Voila. Instant surprise comfort zone. "You can't leave that part out. Then I sound like someone selling stolen watches. Or a gigolo." Insert gentle cough. "That being said, if anyone's in the market for a gently pre-owned Patek Phillipe..."

Just kidding.

Blue-green eyes study the Duel, but interest quickly fades. Did he nail this guy on head or what? Again, Shodan's lost, knows it, and won't stop. The heck with 'Wisdom'. This guy is flat out stupid. It's the sort of Duel that needs to be stopped, something said... if he didn't get what the other Guardian was doing. It was a painfully literal display of pride's blind perseverance and the Libertine was more fully exposed than just losing a Duel could have ever done.

"Behold. I give you a modern interpretation of the Battle of Agincourt," the angel whispered quietly.

Don't, don't, don't pick fights just to impress the girl.

"As I'm sure you've both discovered," he continued quietly to October and Cosmo , "We're in the middle of nowhere. Food Junction off of Howe isn't bad? But we always used to eat before we came out here. For a quiet pub ale, I'd go with Fox and Goose on R at 10th."
