(Mission Impawsible) Furocious Fracas

[Saber Sloth]

With every breath a growls forms from the dog's throat. Shoulders heave against the bars on the door, a growling borf, with and snuffling of his snout. It sounds akin to a laugh.

"You'd be stupid no matter how hard you'd try. Ape." the deep resonating growl forms words. Slowly between a maw full of fangs. "I need not your help, hireling." he growls out, ears pinned back, as a shoulder heaves against the bars again.

The Beast smiled wanly at the hobgoblin, not interested in taking his shit. She sat down, legs folded before her, a couple feet in front of the cage. She continued whispering, not caring how much growling he did. "Oh, you're an asshole. How delightful. Should have guessed, given your activities up till now." She watched for a silent moment as Boy struggled against his imprisonment, "Yeah, you're clearly doing so well on your own."

"Listen up. This isn't your world, so I'm gonna lay out the facts for you." Sonnie took her smart phone out and did a quick google, "You're fucked. That little girl you maimed? Her family is downstairs, right now, demanding action." She found what she was looking for, and showed the talking dog the phone screen, which displayed the details of rabies tests. "In case you can't read, they're gonna test you for rabies. That requires cutting off your head and examining your brain tissue. They'll probably get started soon. Even if they weren't going to test you, they'd have you destroyed for attacking a child, anyway. That's how violent stray dogs are treated here."

She put her phone away and looked at Boy, her expression relaxed, "Face it, chum. I'm you're only ticket out of here. Now, you wanna listen to my proposal, or do you wanna keep being a dick?"

Boy snarls, lips peeling back and showing his fangs. His growl doesn't stop as his eyes narrow at the pictures on the screen. He doesn't back down, he isn't cowed by Sonnies words or her proof.

"Let them try!" a deep resonate rumble, words over boulders, "If they had not underhanded tactics I would be free! Let them face me in open combat!"

Sonnie sighed softly, rubbing the back of her neck with one hand as she glanced at the ceiling.

Maybe I need to work on my presentation?

She looked back down at Boy, and had to admit to herself she'd be pretty afraid of him if he wasn't locked up. She gave a nod, "Okay, I get it. I don't scare you. I'm a monkey, not a gorilla. But what I said is still true, and that should scare you."

Now what? She'd hate to disappoint Mama. Maybe give it one last try to sway the hobgoblin? So, the 'Scrambler went forward and made her offer, anyway. This time she poured Glamour into her personality, exaggerating the feral side of it, as Beasts like her could do. It was all or nothing to save this jerk dog's life.

"You'll never get a fair fight. You're a proven threat. They'll just tranq you in that cage first. Muzzle you, too. You'll go out with a whimper, Snoopy. And honestly? I'm of a mind to leave you to your fate. But I like your mother. She's nice, and I don't want to break her heart by telling her you're dead. Do you want that?"

"Here's my offer," Sonnie forged ahead, "I unlatch your cage, and open a Hedge Gate for you. Boom, you're free and safe. In exchange, I have two requirements."

She held up one finger, "One, you release the brother of the girl you bit from whatever deal you made with him. Undo this His-Family-Can't-See-Him bullshit." Then she raised a second finger, "Two, you go straight home to your mother. No detours."

The Beast lowered her hand and shrugged, "Swear to this. Everybody wins." She glanced at the door leading to the stairs, "A staff member could come up here at any moment. If I hear them coming..." she jerked a thumb at the open window, "...I'm gone. Limited time offer. Think fast."

Sonnie waited for Boy's response. If it didn't work this time, she'd just leave. She honestly didn't know what else to do.

This time, Sonnie can see the effect her words have on Boy. His snarling snear leaves, his ears droop, as his tail stoops low.

"Cowards!" he cries, "Dishonourable curs! Free me ape and I'll - " the growled words stop, the hobdog's shoulders curl, a barking chuff, "Thorn in the pup's paw. Take it out and burn it."

"Now, free me ape!"

To her credit, Sonnie didn't look smug about her victory. Honestly, she was just relieved that reality had set in on Boy's attitude. And while she didn't think he really deserved to evade punishment for his crimes, she was doing this for his mother. Not him. So, the Beast merely nodded in response and placed a hand against the door to the cage.

"Open sesame," she breathed, channeling a touch of her Glamour into the wire frame. Then, she unlatched the door and presented the hobgoblin with his means of escape. The doorway of the cage itself was now a small Hedge Gate, big enough for him to pass through.

"I'm assuming you can find her by scent or something. She's waiting outside our Tavern. We should be there soon to check in with her. Now hurry, Clifford." The gate wouldn't last long.

WP point is bookkeeping from the first intimidation attempt.

"My thanks," He rumbles out, staring into Sonnie's eyes for a long moment "There's no debt between us, Ape." he growls, "Remember, Thorn in the paw!" before bounding into the hedge with a howl, he leaves his forepaws and runs on his hind legs, gaining a more humanoid appearance the further away from the mortal world he goes.

His howls chain off into the hedge, echoing and calling for others of his pack. Boy had been returned home, or as close to home as the hobdog could be brought, at least without an escort.

New knowledge roves through Sonnie's mind, now alone, within this small quartinteen area.

She nodded as Boy passed through the Hedge Gate, "No debt. Go back to your home planet, Poochie."

The Courser watched as the hob vanished into the local faerie wilderness before closing the pen door, sealing the Gate once more as the Glamour that powered it fizzled out.

"What an asswipe," she muttered under her breath.

The Spring Courtier used her sleeve to wipe fingerprints off the latch, just in case, before returning to the window and (after making sure the coast was clear below) exiting the room.

Sonnie descended the wall as easily as pie, her fingers and toes finding and using crevices and imperfections in the wall that mortal digits could never manage. She did so in silence and as low a profile as she could manage. Once back on the ground, she glanced around then headed back around the building to rejoin Reed and Titania.

It was time to free Jason of his curse. Then, they could all go home for ice cream!
