It’s one of those lessons in life that no one prepares you for. One of those lessons you had to learn the hard way. No words or books were going to help you, you had to go it alone. And that was what made it worse.

A couple nights ago the world she had become accustomed to, the one that had helped shape her into the woman she was today, ended. It had been one of the most terrifying yet fulfilling relationships she had ever had. One in which she found a strength she never knew she had.

She knew the day would come; it was never meant to go on as long as it did. She wasn’t supposed to fall in love with him, and him with her.

But she’d been offered her dream job, a top level one trauma hospital. And him? A dream job in England, finance. Neither wanted to walk away from the opportunity these jobs offered, and the talk had been painful.

But now it was over, they had said their goodbyes and she was on a plane. Headed for a new city, a new hospital and maybe a new start. But there was an empty place in her heart, and she wondered if it would ever be full again. Could she find someone like him, someone who understood her and accept her?

The voice of the stewardess brought her back to the here and now.

Leaning her head against the cold window, she sighed. Even if she couldn’t find someone like him, she could at least explore other parts of herself, see what the city had to offer. A new Awakened community always held promises of something new and exciting.

A faint smile appears as she realizes she would be ok. Time healed all wounds, or so she’s been told. And he had built within her a new strength.
