Kaze plunges into the building, grimly aware that it is waking up.
Figuratively, not literally.
Kaze has listened well to Old Ben's tales of this place: the blight on the area; the place the police go only in force; haven of criminals; home of addicts; fortress of vagrants. This is the domain of the disposed and downtrodden. And they are waking from their slumber to chase out the interlopers on their 'peace'.
Kaze will arrive just as the mob start moving, converging on the stairwell and the landing, looking for... trouble!
Cosmo and October race to the base of the stairs and stare at... naked walls and empty space.
Nothing.
But Shodan is moving. The Prime Mover see's where there are... other chambers. Other chambers hidden away and probably down in a sub level between floors. The presence of the hidden area is advertised as a faint glow disappearing below and into one wall. It is enough to show him where the hidden door is, but this door is hidden by more than just cunning architecture.
Fortunately for Shodan, when the Libertine moves he gives a focus to the efforts of the Thearch and the Apostate.
Amid the rising clangour and chatter as the mob makes its move, the mages frantic fumbling activates the secret door, which swings open with painful slowness. A small landing is revealed, connected to a narrow stair seemingly cut into the fabric of the building itself. A stair that leads down into...
A sealed off sub level.
Living Stone looks upon the the secret door then back to the stairs up he looks upon the other mages and waits for them to move into the secret door when they do he intends to move in last to make sure if the mob follows they have to time to descend trough the stairs he thinks then of looking closer where they were touching on the walls and gives a quick closer look so he can touch whatever was touched as they descend to to close door behind them so the mob is slowed down

Unknown mob or unknown space? Both could kill the ladder, but one was closer to their objective.
Once Shodan has shown them where to look and the way is opened Cosmo doesn't waste any time in charging into the sub level. Caution may have been advisable, but they had not a lot of time for at least five people to make their way and close the way behind them before the mob gets to them. Not wanting to slow that process, the Ladder rushes down to the sub-level as swiftly as possible.

And like Cosmo, makes the decision to enter the unknown door to who knows where. But whatever lay beyond it was better then losing a fight to a mob. Though if it was a good decision would remain to be seen.
So, Shodan couldn't find the door on his own... but if not for him, October and Cosmo would not know where to look... go teamwork! But it's not yet time for high-fives.
If there's anything he knows about secret treasure vaults built and maintained by villainous mages hell-bent on enslaving humanity, it's that:
a) the electricity bill was probably not paid since, like, 1850
b) there might be traps built into the whole thing. Or if there aren't, just fall from the stairs in the darkness and you are dead anyway.
Fortunately, Shodan has recourse for both. Just before he descends the stairs, the Prime Mover casts a cantrip to help him see better. It's not as powerful as he hoped, but - beggars, choosers, yadda yadda yadda.
And as he moves, probably after Cosmo and October, but before the Arrow, Shodan looks for traps or other hazards that might be hidden here. If possible, he'll also look for a closing mechanism, so that they can seal off the way behind them. If he finds it, he'll point it out to living stone and nod. Kaze and Phoenyx'll be alright. Hopefully.

Things happen fast...
Cosmo Shodan October and living stone flee into the comparative safety of the hidden stairwell - and whatever lies beyond. Living Stone hangs back and sets the door to close once the others have passed through.
The door grinds shut: stone on stone, leaving the group in a close, dusty, darkness. At this point only Shodan can see the way ahead - not far, but enough to take the lead.
I will open a new scene for the Hidden Sanctum
Kaze and Phoenyx are seasoned fighters but even they know when it is time to withdraw. Neither of the mages make it to the stairwell, let alone the secret doorway, before the mob arrives.
Sometimes it is easier to run away - or in this case, run a distraction for their fellows. The two Awakened draw off the mob and escape back into the comparative safety of the street. They arehoundedfollowed by a gang of caustic vagrants into the next neighbourhood, but they are safe.
