(Loyalty Is,) El Rancho Motel

[Rhodes]

Rhodes is absorbed in the bottle, but the hand on his arm gives pause. "Mmm? Sorry, what sweetheart?"

He follows her hand to the shadow. "Huh. Curious. Well... I don't suppose a quite look would hurt...."

Rhodes answers his phone.

"Circe, darling!" he says brightly. "We're nearly done here. How're things for you two?"

Sloth Edit: These events and the phone call are happening in tandem.

[Saber Sloth]

"Tip," a voice says from around the corner, contrary to expectations the shadow on the floor stays where it is, seemingly painted on the floor, even as the person comes closer to the Lost. "You see something, ya, maybe wanna check out. Maybe, y'know. Whisper."

It's the man they saw in the mirror, cuts and bruises, less prominent. Healed from the time the mirror saw him to now. He's wearing a shirt declaring him an employee of the motel. He has a mop held loosely in his hand. Like it had been when they saw him in the motel lobby, the mop's bucket isn't in sight.

"So, flowers. Scales - sorry Seraphina, how you wanna do this?" The man rolls his shoulders.

[Seraphina]

She had to smile and shake her head slightly, amused at how intrigued he was with the bottle.

As she looked back to the shadow, maybe deciding how to investigate it, it seemed Rhodes got a call from Circe.

But then came a new voice, and Sera looks at the man. Now familiar thanks to Rhodes trick with the glass.

“Oh, did we disturb some of the guests? I didn't think we were that loud, but I am very sorry if we were.” Answers the Nix.

At the mention of the Dread Lords flowers and her scales, then her name, she feels her muscles tense. “Excuse me, have we met? And my name is Sera. And do what? Explore a motel? Return a motel key? Pretty sure we know how to do both. Though if we’ve gone over our time, I’m more than happy to pay for it.” She wasn’t sure who this guy was, but if he could see who they were, he could be a Lost himself. So playing it off seemed the best route for now. If not? Well, cross that bridge if it happens.

[Rhodes]

As the voice comes from ahead, Rhodes slips the bottle into a pocket. He tenses slightly at something heard on the end of the phone.

The tone drops all pretense of good humour, and there is a notable pause. What the hell did he do?

Then: "I see. We're around the front. Meet us here and we'll get ready to head out."

He waits for a response, then puts the phone down, eyes never leaving the shadowy figure.

The Dread Lord arches an eyebrow. "So does naming random objects, friend. I'm sure you overheard us in the lobby, since you were there skulking around - we're just looking for an acquiescence we heard had been here," He offers a smile that conveys no mirth. "We just want to find him and be on our way. If you can help, so much the better - though I'd like a little assurance if you'd be truthful or not. If not, we were just leaving. Didn't find anything worthwhile in the room anyways." He injects a note of frustration into the comment.

"Nothing worthwhile huh?" he clicks his tongue, stance, relaxing at the Dread Lord's announcement. Though not entirely, as the phone conversation continues. "But I got somethin'" He smirks back at the Treasured. "Sera." He purrs, "Puttin' your name on your ID. Ballsy. I like it."

He moves in closer, "Well. Some of us, got a job to do. Mind if I do mine....?"

Must have been either Circe or Abraham on the phone. Which was good, cause something was up with this guy.

As Rhodes talks, her eyes don’t leave the guy, wondering what his deal was.

Shaking her head, “Nothing. Starting to look like he ran off to start a new life or something. Our friend will hate hearing that,” a shrug, “but that’s all we got.” Oh please let Circe or Abraham be on their way.

At the smirk, an eyebrow raises, but she doesn’t say anything. Though she does decide to look into a new identity after this.

When he moves closer, she shifts her weight to her back leg. “You’re right, some of us have a job to do, and ours is to now report to our friend that there are no traces of her husband here and she needs to move on.” Eyes look then to his mop, then back to him, “Broken glass can be dangerous to clean up, please be careful.”

Rhodes finishes the conversation on the phone.

"We'll clean up, but we need you here first."

The Dread Lord watches the shadowy figure with an expression of bitterness. "Sure. No rest for the wicked."

He looks to Sera. "We should go, drop these keys off."

At least I still have the bottle.

[Saber Sloth]

The Shadow Man, nods, stance relaxing further. "Shame."

Moving closer now, "Best tell your friend, and make sure she knows there's nothing here. Her man's gone. She need to stop bothering us here." and closer still, aiming for the door. "Sure, I'll keep that in mind." shaking the mop in hand for a moment. "Not like I'm defenceless against some stray glass."

"Please do," he says, "Shelly'll be happy to take the keys back." he says, opening the door and stepping through the doorway.

It takes a moment, but his shadow eventually follows.

But nods to Rhodes, “Yes, I do hate to be late returning things.” It was a matter of principle.

Shame? Nope, definitely not. While she wants to know what his deal was, she wasn’t stupid.

Instinctively, she feels her hands tighten, but she wasn’t backing down. It would show weakness.

Sapphires don’t leave the guys eyes, “I’m more than happy to relay the message.” Though something was weird about this place.

Shelly. The name was filed away in case.

“Have a good day.” She says simply, more than happy to head for the front desk to return the keys, and meet with the other two.

[Rhodes]

The Dread Lord watches the the Shadow man slink away, making a note of the name.

Rhodes gestures to Sera to follow, away from the direction of the shadow, and frowns. "I'm afraid I have bad news, darling," he whispers softly. He offers her a hand, and keeps heading away.

[Circe and Abraham split up. He's dead. We need to return the keys and get out of here, now."
