Having asked her ghoul to look into locations for the greenhouse, Karen begins on the search for local vegetation that has the proper...temperament for her research. The first stop is William Pond Recreational Area, with a few other places saved in her GPS. She heads into the park some time after it's officially closed and does a slow walk-around, keeping an eye out for anything unusual.

Karen doesn't notice any really unusual plants - nothing she hadn't expected to find - but as she prowls around the wooded area where she met Konstantin, she notes that she doesn't find some things she had expected. A moment's thought reveals something interesting to her... this area held no invasive plants, nothing that wasn't native to this part of California.
This is exceptionally unusual; in many parts of the US, including some parts of California, invaders have displaced native vegetation to such a degree that the native plants are a minority.
"...well, that's interesting." Karen mentions to no one in particular. She makes a mental note to check for the same phenomenon in the other local parks.
She then looks for one of the older trees in the area. Upon finding it, she places a hand on the trunk. "Old one, I have a question to ask."

Karen feels a pulsing from within the tree... the movement of sap, in response to her rousing the tree. She knows she has its attention.
Karen smiles as the tree stirs. "There are no foreign roots here, old one. Does someone keep the ground clear for your and your brethren?"

The tree transmits to Karen vague but nonetheless pleasant sensations: the feel of soft skin against rough bark, and garbled but nonetheless musical sounds - someone, or perhaps more than one person, probably female, singing. Karen understands that the tree doesn't understand the words, but picks up an impression that it appreciates the attention and on some level appreciates the singing.
"You do have a tender, then." Karen nods, making mental notes of what the tree can recall of the music. "Does she come when it is light or dark?"

Karen catches different sensations, sometimes of sunlight falling upon leaves and bark, other times of cool nighttime air.
All Karen can catch of the music is a melody, plus meaningless syllables. Her guess is that this individual sings, as opposed to humming, but the language is completely meaningless to the tree,
If you'd like Karen to try to figure out the song from the melody, you can roll a relevant dice pool at -4. Since this is a memory/knowledge task, the Gangrel clan weakness applies.
Karen needs also to roll Wits + Empathy.
