Blue Birds 2: Monkey Boogaloo

[Sonnie Wu]

Sonja, busy smiling for the camera, was startled by Titania's announcement. She looked over at the doors and blinked in surprise. "Wait, what? No, it's not. Just... just push." She walked up to the grand doors to demonstrate, and was just as stymied as the Fairest. Sonnie frowned and turned to the crew.

"Okay, which genius locked the doors to the library?"

The supernumeraries all looked at each other, uncertain how to answer. Sonnie facepalmed, and then pointed at one of them. "Just... just go unlock it. Use the service entrance."

The 'intern' shyly moved to the wall by the door, clicked on a stone, and a small door slid open. She disappeared inside, and the door immediately shut behind her. After a couple of minutes, there was a louder clacking sound coming from behind the large doors.

Sonnie coughed, "Okay, take two! Places! Quiet on the set! Aaaaaaand, action!" she pointed at the Telluric, as did the camera.

[Titania]

"Li...Like this?", is her tentative answer as she tries to unlock the door.
Sonnie's dreams, because they were still in her dreams?, grew stranger by the minute. What was really puzzling, however, was the reason behind their trip to the library. They had found Rhodes... well Fraudhes really, and the poor fellow had met a grisly and quite unworthy end.
Still, since she had a crowd to entertain, she decided to follow the script... for now.

The doors swung open after a second of resistance. Behind them... the intern supernumerary was standing awkwardly in the shot. Realizing she was 'on camera,' she yelped and scampered out of the way.

Behind her... was the library. It was very much like Titania and Sonnie remembered, similar to the actual dream archive of Rhodes' mind. The same size and layout, the same bookcases and windows. There were minor differences in the smaller details, if one could spot them. This was, after all, only Sonnie's recollection of the original. It was quite well done, regardless of the monkey's memory.

"Ta-DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" she gestured grandly towards the interior. "So, now what? Was there a particular book you wanted to check out?"

[Titania]

She exchanged a brief and apologetic look with the supernumerary, then her dubious gaze started to wander from bookshelf to bookshelf. The reconstruction was somewhat accurate, and it would have fooled her if it wasn't for the feeling of ersatz. Would the books in this fake Bodleian be loyal to grammar or - like the silverware at the table of the Nouveau riche - would they fall short of the originals?
"Hmm, Victorian era novels. I suppose", her lips pursed at the monkey, wary of any potential deceit. Surely there was a trick.

"Right this, way, madam!" Sonnie gestured forward and took Titania's hand in her own, leading the Telluric through the tall bookcases. Rows upon rows of them, filled with musty tomes that smelled of ink and bygone days. Oh, the Antiquarians would have a field day in this place. It would be heaven for any bibliophile... if it were real, and not the product of a mind beholden to animal instincts and Emerald lusts.

After wandering the stacks for a few minutes, they came upon a row bearing a bronze plate. Upon this plaque were the words Victorian Era Novels.

"Here we are!She waved at the shelves of leather-bound books, their titles embossed upon their spines in gold lief.

Victorian Era Cooking, said one. Victorian Era Love Stories, another was named.Victorian Era... TV Shows? Wait, what? They... they all appeared to have titles starting with 'Victorian Era.'

It seemed possible that Sonnie could not think of any actual literature from that time period and was simply filling in the blanks for Titania's benefit.Did she even know what the Victorian Era was?

Open one of the books and inside was... yes... yes, it was all ripped bodices and heaving bosoms and something about handsome, bare-chested pirate captains. The Beast's monkey brain had filled in the passages with smut from cheap, grocery store romance novels.Sounds Victorian to her!

She pulls a book off the monumental shelves: Pamela; or, Virtue undermined. Curious, she thought, there's a mistake. And Gosh she was wrong. It wasn't a case of editorial oversight - as she had first imagined - no, it really was a wholly new chapter of the trilogy, one so apparently lewd from the illustrations that even Richardson himself hadn't dared to publish. How did it end up populating Sonnie's mindspace, she wouldn't know. One thing was certain, those rakish pirates were yuum.
Ahem, she didn't really think any of that. Yes! As soon as she had flipped the pages open, her eyes had grown several times wider and her face had taken the warm hue of a spicy tomato. So, clearly she was absolved of any public impropriety she might have been accused of, and Sir light Rhododendron could stop covering her eyes, since the light was starting to burn her retinas and she certainly wasn't trying to sneak a peek...
She looks back at Sonnie, sparing a glance but no words. Curiously enough, she doesn't put the book back, rather she keeps it close to her chest. Ahem, yes. Had they stumbled upon a comfirmed original work, it could have been a discovery of great scientific significance.

While the Bright One searched for whatever it was she wanted, Sonnie occupied herself by enjoying some of this classic literature herself. Pulling out a tome entitled 'Captain Rodrigo and the Heiress,' the Beast grinned lewdly as she flipped through the pages, hungry, golden-colored eyes scanning the paragraphs of smut.

"Mmmmmm. Now, that's what I call a cutlass!" she nodded to herself approvingly. Glancing up, she saw that Titania had apparently located the book she sought. With a smile, she put her own find back on the shelf. "Ready to move on? What else do you seek, Lady Starlight?"

[Titania]

"I was originally bent on solving the mystery of Jack's murders", she bit her lips, "however, the only crimes I've witnessed so far were those against public decency", and then, boom! It comes out of the blue.
"Do you have a boyfriend, Miss Monkey Lady Sonja?", it might have been abrupt, but in light of the circumstances, the question - the prying really - made sense.

Sonnie looked down at her Tomb Raider outfit, "I know the shorts are a little tight, but I wouldn't call them indecent." She wiggled her rear end and laughed.

The next question was certainly unexpected, and left the Beast slightly confused as to the sudden (to her) shift in topic. She cocked her head to one side, looking curiously at the Fairest. "Boyfriend? Um, no. Why do you ask?"

[Titania]

"Well", she opened her arms wide while she still held unto the promiscuous book, as to enclose the space surrounding her, "I might be imprecise in my assessment, but do I detect signals?"
