The Plague Cat tittered.
"As you wish. We shall not harm them."
Caroline paused, shivering.
"We will need to feast on those that carry the silent taint at some point, but for now your protection is... agreeable to us."
Something in Caroline's speech pattern finally brought pieces together. The use of "we" when seemingly referring to herself. And this 'silent taint' had him curious.
"We have an accord," he smiled to Caroline. "So, let's get to know each other better better. Maybe you can tell me who 'we' are? Hmm? There's just one one of you and three of us. What's this silent taint you need to eat?"

Mable has so many questions. Who are the We Caroline kept referring to, who chained her, and why? And Mable still wondered about the mirrors. those bothered her greatly. She would have to go back at some point and examine them. Kreig had asked about the we. Mable didn't want to confuse things.
When Caroline stopped and shivered, from fear? Mable walked over and put a protective arm around her. Maybe it was a bad idea, but it was what she felt she should do. "We will help you."
Davis did not like the direction this conversation was heading. Not one little bit. He had witnessed the effects of smallpox, malaria, cholera, and other epidemics that spread in the country's past. If Cat here was a Typhoid Mary, she needed to be put down. If she was a plague eater of some sort he felt no form of relief from it.
"Is she implying she is some sort of sin-eater?" Davis was honestly in uncharted territory. He had heard of practices amongst the slaves of old that involved an elder medicine man who would visit the sick and dying and claimed to eat the sins and ill spirits from the afflicted.

"We are Caroline the Plague Cat. A little god of death trapped at the door. So it is. We hunger for the desperate and the diseased; the lost and those bound in sorrow. There are other gods of death, dead living. They move in secret and you see them not, for all of your power. We yearn to return whence we came. But not yet!"
Caroline might well have continued but Davis spoke up. The Plague Cat paused mid breath, turned slightly and surveyed the Daeva with narrowed eyes.
"Sin Eater. A name. As good as any."
"I'm impressed Davis. Good logical deduction," he congratulated the Daeva. He turned his attention back to Caroline, "This is incredibly fascinating," Krieg admitted. As a member of the Second Descent, anything related to the Underworld sparked his curiosity.
"Please go on, tell us more. The more we know about you, the better we can help you."

Mable was amazed listening to John, Krieg, and Caroline. This was a fascinating find. Mable decided to keep quiet and keep offering Caroline her support. Whatever she was she had been treated badly and Mable would make sure she wasn't while in her care.

ST NOTE because I missed Krieg ErlangShen rolls...
Krieg will study Caroline the Plague Cat and either conclude that 'Caroline' has been totally taken over by an alien spirit or entity of some kind, because her mannerism's are just not natural or normal. Much too still, or else quietly exaggerated. The lack of blinking is disturbing; if the woman's eyes were dilated perhaps he might have surmised a heavy dose of drugs... but they are not.
Krieg's occult knowledge does not help him much. He has absolutely no idea what a 'Silent Threshold' is (but thanks to his Skill level he can probably make a number of wild guesses or assumptions, none of them good. After all... Threshold is part of a Gateway...). He does know that some scholars and seekers have classified the shades of the dead into loose orders from time to time. At least one of the names given to certain orders of underworld shades is The Silent - those whooped in desperate need, extremis or through being ignored.
