I will be wrapping this scene in a couple of days and moving forward.
Stepping away from her conversation with Twist and van Valen, Lina bowed to Prince Alessandra Antinori, try-try-trying to not glance at the place where what remained of her law enforcement rested. Nods were given to others of rank, and a wave was spared for Clara E. Verne .
What could she say? The Whip had done well.
Closing time. She didn't have to go home, but she sure couldn't stay here.
Lina Moretti exits Court.
All things were impermanent, and this night, the Kindred of Sacramento had seen that though they were near permanent, circumstances would remind them that even immortals could fall. Ashes lay where Kindred fell, and though the dead were gone, the horror of their demise and the lessons would be imprinted - forever a change, however large or small, in the minds of those who had witnessed it.
Court, too, was impermanent. As the minutes and hours passed, the vampires of Sacramento found their way home to safety and shelter before the rising of the sun.
