Tomfoolery Abound!

[Mhairi Ankaa]

Following Coco 's ominous, but completely asked for words, the pair found a store. One Mhairi didn't frequent and therefore wouldn't really mind getting banned from.

Butterflies were still fluttering however as they left the cab, sprits still high as the teasing didn't abate in the car they'd just exited.

Adrenaline tumbles with a tangle if thoughts is this really happening!? paired with is coco actually here!? drove the wisp forward.

"Ahead lays the path to our quest!" Mhairi raises a hand and throws it in the direction if the automatic sliding doors, "Are you ready?" was she?

[Coco]

"For such a dangerous trial ahead, we must prepare," Coco declared dramatically, her left hand raising high into the air, fingers spread in a snarled claw as though she were a witch grasping a moldering skull, and slowly she drew her hand down, channeling the energies of the Wyrd and hardening her mask.

"We want to cause a scene, but not too much of one," the Wasp shared a moment later, shooting Mhairi a wink before she went skipping off toward the store, caught up in the energy of her role.

Of course, by the time they both walked through the doors of the store, Coco had assumed an entirely new role, that of the happy, laid back young woman out shopping with her friend. For a blissful twenty minutes they went all around the store, slowly filling up their cart, joking and chatting about all of the things the next week might bring, until, at least, they rounded the corner leading the registers. As if heralding their doom, all of the lights shining gaily above the checkstands began to wink out, one by one, leaving them with no other choices. Whatever was about to happen, it would happen in front of every other shopper trying to pay and get the fuck out of the store...

"This is going to be good," Coco whispered impishly in Mhairi's ear. "Just play along."

"Aye, that we must," said in a grace, yet horrible Scottish accent. Absently wondering if she should expel the glamour to harden her Mask like Coco had (and wasn't weird to see the women without her antennae and multi-faceted eyes) but shook her head, she didn't feel like it and the only people who'd notice was the not-as-waspish-wasp at her side or....other....Freeholders....

...fuck.

Onward they strode, chart acquired, because they were totally needed more then what a basket could carry.

In went ice cream, and chocolate and chips and candy. Pop and energy drinks, Rockstar for the Vodka she already had at home.

Then comes that ever ominous reminder of their true purpose here, and after twenty blissful moments of energy and not caring about their wallets and what wouldn't reside within them soon.

Gods and Demons, "Okiedokie." Mhairi swallows, bracing herself.

With a supreme effort of panache, Coco managed to keep a straight face as they took their place in line. It wouldn't do to break character now. After all, it was...

Show Time!

One moment, they were standing in line, the next Coco was tugging on Mhairi's arm.

"Hey, hey. Mhairi! You know what I saw? Take a guess? You know what I saw?"

A skewed, slanted smile spread across the Wasps lips, an expectant look entering her eyes. It was almost too much, even for the Wasp, but somehow she managed to stay in character.

Anticipation and fear twisted a d twined making for a heady mixture.

They were in line. The tills with their cashiers mindlessly scanning items and bagging them acordenly. Slowly the snail pace of the line inched them ever closer...

Then. Coco's tugging her hand.

"I don't know." she says, pushing the 'I don't care' known to parents and elder siblings everywhere. "What?" seemingly disinterested, but willing to entertain a grown women-child.

Mhairi fought the urge to close her eyes, people were already covertly peaking at the weirdness coming from them, and she tries to swallow the nerves induced nausea.

[Coco]

Coco drew in a breath with such exaggerated vigor that everyone in a 15 foot radius must heard it, and then she held it, lips parted. Already, she could see people cringing.

LET IT GOOOOOO!

LET IT GOOOOOO!

I DON'T CARE WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO SAY!!!!

If only effort and enthusiasm were enough to make beautiful music! Alas, Coco was painfully tone deaf. She didn't even have to try to make her singing bad, she was so naturally horrible that it was almost astonishing in its own right.

"Frozen!" she chorused afterwards, clapping her hands and bouncing with joy. "Can we buy it? Pleeeease? Pretty Please? Ooooh! Or how about the soundtrack? Can I have the soundtrack?"

It was so hard to do puppy eyes while trying not to laugh...

Ears ringing from that off key belting of that infectious earworm of a soundtrack for a movie she's never seen, but hadn't managed to flee from the songs playing all the time, starts to cheerfully play in her head.

Thanks Coco.

"Sweety," she turns to the women who's tugging on her arm. She plans to respond with the planned and resolute 'no!' But then her mind sneaks in something biting and clever. She softens it, while shaking her head internally. Coco hasn't even been back a day and she's already buzzing about her ears. "I didn't think you were a fan of blond snow queens."

[Coco]

No matter how masterful of an actor the Wasp sometimes thought she could be, she couldn't help it. Her left eye began to twitch as she fought to maintain character, though to one of the unfortunate mortal observers, it probably just served to make her look even more unhinged.

"So can I have it, please?" Coco began to bug, defaulting back to the script that she'd made up in her head. "Please please please? I promise not to play it at midnight, or while you're trying to do yoga with the neighbor next door!"

Mhairi had to fight a smile at the obvious twitching of Coco's eye.

"No sweetie." said with infinite, endless patience of someone who's days are spent around hyper little monsterskids. "You already have a new movie. Besides don't you want to spend time with your friend instead of watching TV?" because they had a cart full of junk food.

[Coco]

For a moment, all was still, all was silent, but everyone waiting in the store new that it was just the calm before the storm.

"BUT I WANT IT!" the Wasp screamed, stamping her foot. "WHY CAN'T I HAVE IT!? IT'S NOT FAIR! YOU ALWAYS GET WHATEVER YOU WANT, WHY CANT I HAVE A SNOWMAN, AND A FUZZY MOOSE, AND A SISTER THAT CARES ABOUT ME!"

No matter how embarrassing this could have been, the sudden rush of annoyance, and pity, and chagrin, and so many other subtle flavors the swirled up inside Coco like little explosions of sugary glitter.

Of course, the rush began to fade, the connection to the brilliant sparks of emotion radiating out from her impromptu audience fading as the cashiers hid back behind the facade of their uniforms and the other shoppers suddenly remembered a few more things on their lists. It was time to beat a hasty retreat and leave Mhairi to soak up the pity of those that remained.

With fake sobs, the Wasp sprinted out of the store, making sure to knock a display over on the way out, and pelted off into the parking lot...
